Goldcoast Pirate Faire-Ojai CA-Who's goin mates?!
Red Maria replied to TalesOfTheSevenSeas's topic in September
I'll be performing on stage with New Providence and maybe the Tryal of Anne Bonney & Mary Read as Anne Bonney. Looking forward to seeing all you scalywags! :) -
It was great to see you again Cascabel and great to meet your lady. I hope her troubles are behind her. Thank you very much for reprising your role as Tizzy for the play. It was great to be onstage with you. Hope it happens again someday.

Yes they do. But as a PRP applicant you can camp at the PRP encampment. There is an area for non period tents there. Also this place has showers! -
Weather Cahnnal Had the tempeture on Sunday at 110 degrees and Sunday a cool 108 degrees. Talk about a trial by fire!

Yes it was hot! But I found this glass blowing booth that was selling bodice chillers. Sort of a glass vase with out a base that can be filled with ice and slipped between the breasts. It made Sunday a bit more bearable. It was great to see me mates BHP and RR and to meet some of you and put a face to names. Billy Bones you looked great everything a pirate should look like. Petee it was great meet you and thank you for listening to New Providence play. And that goes for anyone who stopped by and listened. I keep on trying to find you Killin but never was sucessful. New Providence had to perform 4 sets on Saturday and 3 sets on Sunday ( We weren't told when or where they would be till Saturday morning) at 1:30, 3:30, 5:30 & 7:30 Sat and 1:30, 3:30 & 5:30. There were reports that it was up to 110 degrees. But nonetheless people recived us very well and desipte the small turnout we made some money in tips! On top of that I was recruited at, literally, the last minute for portray Anne Bonney (the lady who suppose to play her unfortunately her husband fell very ill and she had to take care of him) for the trial of Anne Bonney and Mary Read. Luckily I've done the role before so I knew the part. Mary Read was wonderfully played by Gale Selinger . I hope some of you met her at the faire. If anyone has pictures please send them to me as I forgot to have someone take them for me. It was dog hot but great fun. I hear the man who runs it will be moving it to early November next year. Thank the Gods! I lost 2 1/2 pounds over the weekend. I do not recommend this as a diet! :)

Congratulations on your win Gary. Having sailed on here I know she's fast. See you at Dana point! I hear New Providence will performing on her while she's docked there. :)

As a belly dancer I have been told that there will be no belly dancers at this event. The reason I was told that this faire is set in the Caribbean hence no belly dancers. Yeah I know other faire are set in England and there should be no belly dancer there either. But what I can I say? I'm not running this event.

There might be a Parrot Squaks (club newsletter) before the evnet otherwise just look what comes in on the list. See you there!

Just go to the website and e-mail the secretary to make sure your application was received. Always good to check.
-
If you're an applicant to PRP you are gatelisted with PRP and can camp there.

I would trust anything unless I hears it from Iron Bess herself. Otherwise it's just rumour. She has said again and again that the writers have not written anything for Keith Richards and there is no place in the scripts for him. That's good enough for me! :)

Contact Jamaica Rose, Royaliste. She's one of the organizers.

Take whatever is the best way for you to get to the 91 Fwy and take it east. From there check the website for off ramp etc. Or try Mapquest.

Look forward to seeing you again then Cascabel! Will you be reprising your role as Tizzy?

The times and which stage will be posted when I get them. This will be our first paid gig so come out and cheer us on! Why the name New Providence? This looks like a real good one for British naval history. I might even have to buy one myself! :) The command of the ocean : a naval history of Britain 1649-1815 / N. A. M. Rodger. London : Allen Lane in association with the National Maritime Museum , 2004. ISBN 0713994118 (hbk.) Here's some more info on it: http://www.wwnorton.com/catalog/spring05/006050.htm Some very good sketches of common seaman's garb.
