  1. I have posted more photos on my myspace site. A part of the pirate raid on old St. Augustine, I was not able to take photos but we had a parade from the Fountain of Youth to the Old Redoubt where two opposing pirate groups moved down St. George Street with opposing groups quarreling about the treasure till we reached the Plaza where another battle was engaged for the public to enjoy till we parleyed and split the treasure chest which was filled with gifts for the children watching the pirates.

I can hardly wait till next year which promises to be bigger & better.

  2. Did not have a lot of time to take photos but here are a couple as promised,

Here is Tiger Lee and me

    Maiden's Pub...early in the evening.

Many Pirates attended the Captain's Meeting and there was an outbreak of sea shanties....We did a pub crawl afterwards...if the rest of the gathering is like today it will be a great event.

  3. I do not think that will be a problem...they were looking for more parade participants when I talked to them last......If you are a ticked participant you will be able to talk to the organizers at tomorrow nights Captain's meeting at the Fountain of Youth 7 pm........if not email the contact at the web site

  4. Another question about St. Augustine, are we allowed to have weapons? Capt. Stingray has a replica pistol however, I have a sword. I will have a safety ribbon in place of course but I was wondering if it will be allowed on the streets of St. Augustine during the parade, on Fri. night or at the park?

Why a true pirate would be naked with out their weapons...they have encouraged us to wear our arms.

  5. Does anyone know when the camps have to be set up by on Friday? And how late can we set up on Thursday night or how early on Friday morning. Have tent... need setup time. :)

    -- Hurricane

The Captain's meeting is at 7 pm so I would think the camps should be set up by them but you can ask

Captain Mayhem at his myspace site.

  6. A question about participating in the parade. After extensive efforts to "add to our crew" aka pressing...... there are now 16 that will be attending and wanting to join in the parade. Does anyone know who to contact or where the parade begins? What time we should have our crewe gather and where. The Capt. and I will be there Fri. evening but the others won't sail in until early sat. AM.

    Thanks,

    FLmermaid

The Floats are staged at 9 am on Magnolia street then the parade begins at 10 am.

  7. We are a newly formed pirate crew from Daytona Beach. We call ourselves Pirates of Disapearing Island. Stingray and I have attended Pirates in Paradise last year with our crew of misfits as well as Pyrate Con. This year our entire crew will be in St. Augustine and most of us will be at Pirates in Paradise. We're looking forward to seeing everyone. We were going to sail the Hannah B up but because of time constraints (work) we have to us more conventional means. We will be bringing our hand drums and hope to get a drum circle going as well.

    Happy Sailing

I'll Look for you .....and the drums!

    Live Long and Plunder Well!

  8. Just a reminder:

It is getting near time to go a pirating with the area's largest pirate event. A three day gathering (November 14, 15, & 16 ) of pirates, buccaneers and scallywags...We welcomed all pyrates be they paper, plastic and authentic, so come dressed in your best pirantical pirattitude and help us celebrate the "Golden Age of Piracy". This year's event will be held at the Fountain of Youth Archeological Park, along scenic Matanzas Bay in Historic Saint Augustine.

Visit the pirate gathering site for more detail.

  9. I must admit I love reading this thread and seeing all your bloody marvelous accomplishments... now if I could just clean my lousy office....

Well Captain...it is a labor of love and an adventure to see what we can come up with next. You begin to look at things like...now how can I use that in my pirate project...lol...it is much more enjoyable when you can create your own world....

as a fellow told me "The Imagination is a wonderful world in which to play".

  10. For the sake of keeping the topic of Piratical decor from falling off the edge of the flat earth..

    Bump

Here is my contribution to keeping this going.....although it is not completed here is a link to what I have done so far to create my outside Pirate area. We live next to a protected area so it is a never ending effort to keep the vines and brush cut back from taking over the yard....still we wanted a place to entertain our pirate friends......we still have much to do but the constant rain and humidity limit the time we can spend working on it.

Will post more photos as we progress.

  11. I dunno bout this one I don't. I mean like, what if lit'le Johny alls out? What Sally gets a splinter in he hand? Suppose's ther be a loose nail sticking out? What if termites eat the flooring and it falls through? Or if lightning strike it?

I don't think these 'Tree houses' be a proper PC thing at all I do not; perhaps build it on th' ground, then we can call it a 'Ground house'.....

Me neither........I am looking around for an old wooden boat 10 - 14 foot that I can convert into a yard pirate ship as a display and play place for my grand children.....it would be nice if I could sit on it once and a while too.....lol

I tried searching on the net for a sample for what I have in mind but can not find one...most of those I find are more like large homemade backyard pirate ships.

If anyone finds one like I want please send me the link.

    Thank

    Joe

  12. I have been doing the Piracy side of this hobby fer a while now and have decided I wanna play both sides of the fence sort of speak and find reenactment clothing to be a British Naval Officer during GAOP say just before Woods Rodgers was commissioned to go after pirates.. So I am looking for some pictorial sources and some links to purchase this type of clothing..

I did find one cool link though..

    http://www.kipar.org/piratical-resources/p...c-uniforms.html

Those are really nice looking uniforms........mine is more from the Master and Commander era......but the wool is much too hot for Florida summers (and the 30-40 day winters we get) It was made by a local civil war seamstress.

That is why I started with pirates garb...then fell to the Dark Side...lol

  13. One of the new hats I just finished, sorry for the size of the pic

    Picture014.jpg[/img]

It is a fine hat for sure....looks great....my friend, Mad Dog, makes his hat s out of old felt cowboy hats.....don't know how he does it but they look great!

You should be proud of your work...it is always more fulfilling when you make something yourself....well done!

  14. Ok we need some input on how much to sell these for

All Profit is to go to Breast Cancer Research

1&1/2 inch Lead Free Pewter pin

    DSC00244.jpg

I work with the American Cancer Society’s RELAY FOR LIFE each year. I design the T-shirts and posters for the fund raising events. You have a great idea and design however when looking at it, the pin is not immediately recognizable as a cancer fund raising item. Perhaps if it had something like “Help Stop Breast Cancer”, Pirates Against Cancer or “Stop Cancer” it would be recognized and attractive to more than re-enactors. On the other hand it be good plunder for pirates. Good luck with your project. If I can help in any way let me know and when you get the final pricing down I’d like to place an order.
