  1. One more thought, I am fairly sure that most of the men attending wouldn't mind iffen the wenches play with their costumes just as they are...lol

I would not mind either but the wenches said something about extra petticoats....darn...drat!!!!!!

  2. I must say, the Duck Race site is looking good! Looking forward to being a part of it. I put it to our Captain and his mate about being there for the event. No promises but, they will see what they can do.

They did a great job on the site, especially the pirate page.

We had our weekly meeting tonight and when I mentioned the Cursed Few again they were very excited to be seeing you folks again and mentioned adopting you folks as a sister group...we did play nice together at the Pirate Gathering.

The Ancient City Privateers are really getting into the Volley Ball Tournament....the wenches are trying to figure the best way to play in their garb dresses. That should be interesting....lol

  3. I wish I was near Florida! I can beat a duck, even with full gear on I could, been chased by many 'n naught a one catch me...well, a wee yellow one once came neigh but as I told he'm "neigh only count in horse shoes!"

Here be a tip for all ye pirates partake'n in th' Duck Race - have yer self a pocket full o' corn seed, just before th' blunderbuss be fired empty it all out on th' ground, then run like heck!!

Best o' luck with yer event, wish I could be there!

    Thanks MadL

    Appreciate the thought

  4. Those came out great....

It would be a pain to get them as layers in Photoshop, but if you had the top layer as the inked lines, and then "washed out" (adjusted the transparency of) the colors a little more, they would almost look like hand tinted prints.....

Hummm..... <new Layer>... then trace the black lines with the pen tool ....

<new layer> and color fill..... then <filter> and water color.....

Then adjust the transparency on the colored layers..... over the original....

    then flatten everything.....

Patrick...you know too much...lol....might give that a try cept I do not have a pen tool...but still might be able to do it.

    Thanks for the tip

    Joe

  5. Very nice effect indeed!

Very nice stuff. So.....why didn't you sign up for the PTC exchange?.......

Thank Ye Ma'am...I'll have a man posted in the crosstree ta keep a lookout fer ye and yer crew.

Thank you for supporting our fight against cancer.

  7. I just looked at the Black Raven site. Looks like she is goig to be grand. I can't wait to see her up close and personal!

The drawing I saw shows her to be a fine looking vessel......hope they were what she was built to...She should arrive Late February or early March.....I have a meeting tomorrow night and will ask if she is still on schedule.

  8. I’d like to thank all the pirates who are joining us for the “Photo with Pirates” to raise funds for the Relay for Life fight against cancer. The event is Sunday April 19th from noon till 5 p.m. Since fighting seems to come natural for pirates we are sure to help win this one.

They way things are shaping up it is starting to look more like a pirate event than a Charity Duck Race.

The activities are the Race, Photo with Pirates, Volley Ball Tournament, Games for the kids, Door prizes and Hot Dogs n Hamburgers. All to help fund the cure.

There still is lots of room for any pirate who would like to drop by and pose with the public with all the profits going to the RFL.

A Special thanks to the pirates coming from Georgia to support this fund raiser for the cure. You are Very Special People.

    Thank You so Much.

  10. If you are coming to Florida or live in North East Florida or South Georgia you can now have your Pirate Family or Group photos take by Tiger Lee. Tiger has recently settled in St. Augustine and opened his Pirate Photos N' Treasures shop on old St. George Street. I went down to visit and his shop is shaping up very nice. Drop by if you visit St. Augustine and say hi.

  11. The St. John's County, Florida Relay for Life (American Cancer Society) is having the Greater St. Augustine Duck Race and other activities to raise funds to help find a cure for cancer. on April 19th noon till 5 p m

The Duck Race committee has asked if we could find some pirates to pose with the general public as one of the money raising events. The events will include Duck Race, Volley Ball tournament, games, gift drawings, food and photos with pirates.

If you are a pirate who might be interested in donating some time and have some fun while helping us fight cancer please let me know if you can spend some time posing in your garb with our guest supporters.

I thanks ye all for any help you can give.

  12. A BIG New Piratey Treasure chest has found residence in me cove..

An Early Christmas present it be... It presents a new project to make a false bottom and

build it up with foam and carve it so that trinkets and gold coins ect can be glued to it..

The foam core I make will have a base color of Gold as well..I think I will add a skull with a sword thru it..

One constraint to making this is the prop has to be made in such a way that I can flip it upside down for transport. The reason is so the Mound of treasure can be of a greater amount when on display... We will have a grand Guild yard with this and Willie the dread Pirate ( Statue ) and the Barrels.. Speaking of Guild yards ..The Rum Runners is the best! Sounds Like a subject for another thread.... Any way here be a few pics of me new treasure Box..

WOW!...me thinks that would hold all my treasure!...perhaps I should begin helping you on that tunnel..... from my end! Great Chest Mr. Eye!

  13. How many buckets of dirt does it take to get to Oderlesseyes Cove

from yours? eagh eagh......Looks like ye was gettin a start!

Too many buckets, I am afraid....perhaps I'll hire some lads ta dig for me....lol

Which way be the Spanish Main? The signage is a great idea! LoL...

"A Mash Unit fer Pirates!" eagh eagh...

OOOO does kinda look like the sign on MASH.

Ye mentioned Hurricane..How bad was it?

lots of wind and rain...blew down some branches.....lost the roof to my boucan...I think the three weeks with poison ivy was worse....makes me afraid to go back outside...lol

  14. I needed a different hat style for the St. Augustine Pirate Gathering...and I needed something quickly so I took the $18 hat I loan my son when he goes pirating with me.

    hat001.jpg

    and reworked it to this

    hat002.jpg

It was very easy to hand shape......I stitched on either side of the fore peak......worked fine.

Now I have to find Patrick a new hat...lol

  15. With Christmas coming, buy some of those new LED flickering lights (we got some last year) and place them among your canopy top. Those won't get hot like the regular kind and are safer.

That will give you the ambiance you are looking for especially in the summer evenings.

I have the white tree lights under my canopy...they look great and give just the right ambiance like a dimly lit old pub......I could not stand the blinking one but these are perfect.

All daytime shots and the project was temp. stopped by the last hurricane and a bad bout of poison ivy but I'll get back to it soon.

  16. It was great seeing you sir, and an honor as always. Diosa thanks you for filling her treasure chest with your books.

It was an amazing event and we've already signed up for next year - you can't beat playing with guns and cannons in St. Augustine and camping with some of the best people I've ever met...

    -- Hurricane

It was a pleasure to see you and your group again.....Diosa"s charity is dear to my heart...I am glad to contribute to the cause.

It was indeed a great event with lots of fine pirates. I talked with some Bling Pirates from one of the West Florida groups who were impressed with the historical flavor of the event and swear they will tell their groups how much better authentic events are.....The committee is already working on making next year's event even better....one improvement being investigated is making the event more accessible to increase access for the general public ...that should improve vendor sales.

Let us know when you make your next raid on St. Augustine and we will try to meet up.

    Best

    Joe
