  1. Mission- That was only a couple of the pic's, but I have loaded the rest of them now. If I get some time later this week I will have some video clips from each of the sea battles.
  2. Tallship Lioness: Ships Site The Lioness is operated as a training vessel by Youth Services Agency, which works with at risk youth. "The Lioness is a 70 foot replica of a Spanish Galleon, square rigged sailing ship. It has a steel hull and was built in 1986. It has a beam of 18 feet and a draft of 7.6 feet and a tonnage of 50 tons. While it is ocean worthy, YSA plans to use the Lioness in the protected areas of the Delaware and Chesapeake Bay areas. When in the bay areas, the ship will be powered by a 6 cylinder Volvo engine. The Lioness is used by all of our programs to provide an additional facet to our adventure programming. YSA clients are given the opportunity to experience all aspects of sailing such a large vessel, under the watchful eye of our trained staff." She is NOT USCG certified for carrying passengers and cannot be chartered. Most of her sailing rig is roller furled. She carries two carriage guns in the waist that are about 2 pounders She has 2 rail guns near the con that have about a 1" bore. Duncan
  3. Black John- It was a pleasure to have your guys there and you are sure to be invited back next year. After the huge success this year there are definitely plans to expand the encampment & living history events next year. I have not had a chance to follow up with the folk from the Pride yet, but I know that the Captains of the Lioness and the Farewell had a blast and want to be back next year. 4. The Juryrig crew very much enjoyed being a part of this event again this year. The Ball Friday night far exceeded last years. Saturdays events were a blast, The Kalmar Nyckel hosted a wonderful participant dinner and the camp shanty sing had a some great performers in attendance. Sunday . . . well it wouldn't be Hampton Festival without rain I must say that the 7 of us that weathered Tropical Storm Barry and stayed in camp till Monday had our fun, and we got to go home Monday with DRY canvas Special thanks to Blackbeards crew for hosting the event, QM Glass for coordinating the reenactors and Pyrate Pete for all his work with the vendors. It was also great to finally meet Captain Gary and spend some time on the Royaliste. Thanks again Gary for the hospitality. I have a ton of pictures to sort thru, and I hope to have some posted by the end of the week Duncan
  5. The Juryrig Crew had a lot of fun working this event and we really hope they have it again next year. Our pictures from the event: The Juryrig's Charleston Tallship Pictures Captain Duncan McGuyver The Juryrig
  6. Well a proper right up of the event will have to wait, but I do have a selection of pictures posted: The Pictures Many thanks to all of the folks that helped put such a GREAT event together. Everyone went the extra mile to make sure that we were taken care of. Special thanks to John Glass and the rest of Blackbeards crew for cordinating eveything. To Cascabel, Braze, Mitch, The Devil Men and All Of The Blackbeards Crew let me say thanks for a great five days.
  7. I will be making it up, but not till Pirate Weekend July 22/23. BTW, MDRF's Pyrates Royale will be playing there that weekend, and there will be a bunch of MD people will be up there as well. Duncan
  8. Aye, the "ship" will be loaded on Thursday and we are casting off around midnight. If all goes well we should be onsite between 8 & 9AM Friday. Can't wait to see everyone. Duncan
  9. It's been a long week, so I am a bit late getting this out . . . Wow, What a weekend :) The rain was a pain, but it wasn't enough to stop the crowds. The party in camp Sat. night was the best we've had in years, and everyone had fun all weekend. Many thanks to Blackbeards Crew for hosting such a fun event every year. Pern, Steel, Billy, John, Karen, Bart, Stan, Grace, Pete, Will, Mingo - you all made for a hell of a fun weekend. It was also fun to catch up with Callenish, Silkie, The Brigands, The Ships Company and all the folks from MD that made their way down for the weekend. Our pictures from the weeknd can be found here: Juryrig's Pictures From Hampton Blackbeard Festival 2006 Duncan
  10. Mick- Refer to this site for a easy to read breakdown of PA's gin laws, as well as any other states: NRA State Gun Law Listing I too live in PA and have not had any issues. I- Transport port my pistols in a locked pistol case in the back of my truck - well out of my reach. I transport my powder in a seperate locked powder locker - also out of reach. If questioned I would fall under " However, no license is required: (2) when engaged in target shooting or while going to or from shooters` places of assembly or target practice, provided the firearm is unloaded and the ammunition is carried in a separate container;" It just so happens that in my "target shooting" / "shooters place of assembly" I shoot without a projectile I personally have more of a issue when I work offsite at secure facilities and the explosive doggies get very excited sniffing my truck. I alway end up having to go to one of those after I have been out having fun with the cannon and pistols. Duncan
  11. Yet one more reason not to like "The Disney Ren Faire" I do enjoy Celtic Fling, but outside of that if it's a decision of Revel Grove or PARF - Revel Grove will always win. That said there are a bunch of wonderful people up there that I love to see, it's just the fair itself that I don't care for as much. JMHO
  12. Glad to hear you are making it down! Will you be @ Hamton this year?
  13. Gute- I put a post up about this on the ships board. When I get back in town Monday I will let you know what the response is. I know at least two of the other area Captains have been reading the post (Chelle & Chaos) and I will put a word out to the ones that don't get over here. Duncan

  15. I wanted the "Build Your Own" kit, but everyone was out when I was shopping. I ended up with a complete one from Dixi which I have been happy with. Make sure to post how your assembly goes.
  16. Does anyone know when did the collars change over from a verical collar to one that folds down? All of the shirts I have looked at online for the period show the fold down style. Also any patterns out there? Again, all the patterns I have looked at online have the fold down collar.

  18. I am looking to give my Queen Anne some company, but I am having a hard time picking a new piece. I like the Royal Navy Sea Service Pistols Found here: (and other places) http://www.militaryheritage.com/pistol1.htm but the earliest dating on this model is 1756 - post GAOP I also like the English Lock Doglock Pistol Found here: (and other places) http://www.middlesexvillagetrading.com/PDOG.shtml but is seems like it went out of production before GAOP (not that it wouldn't be around). Does anyone else have any suggestions for GOAP pistols, preferably bigger than a Queen Anne?
