  6. Well the festival wa a smashing success again this year. Hats off to the Blackbeard Crew for hosting the event, and allowing some of us "visiting pirates" to join in the fun. It was great to see some of the PP people there, in particular Stinky Tudor (and family) and Indigo Jack and Jim. I will have the pictures I took during the weekend posted shortly, and will provide a link. EDIT The Pictures Are Up: The Juryrig's Pictures From The Hampton Blackbeard Festival
  7. It'll be good to see you folks - it's been too long!
  8. There a least six active crews based at MDRF, so the pirate invasion weekend is always a bunch of fun. Although it has not been discussed by the Captains yet I am sure we will do a repeat of last year with a pub crawl and contests between the ships. Any of the crew planned activities will be open to all the visiting pirates as well. The Juryrig will again host a pyrate encampment at the local KOA, about 10 min. sailing time from the faire grounds. Once we get closer I will be posting details on the board.
  9. Thanks for the update and the amazing pictures
  10. Will discuss with others this weekend at Ft. Frederick Market Fair and try to come up with a date. Juryrig's invasion weekend of 6/11 is possible. More info next week. When are you going to Fort Frederick ? I will be there with some of the crew on Sat.
  11. The Juryrig's invasion date will be June 11th
  12. The weather was truly most fine last year - other than that rain on Friday night Hopefully we will be so lucky this year.
  13. Some of the crew went down last year and we met up with Stinky and Paisley. We had fun, but it is a very small soft site. The crew will be going back again for one of the Lake Anna dates - I just need to pick one. Best suggetion is go with a group. Duncan
  14. Pyrates Royale be performin' both days. Damn - now I am really sorry I am missing it !
  15. I'll be in New Orleans that weekend, but I'll post the info on our crew site in case anyone might be interested.
  16. Irving Johnson saved ! SFGate.Com Article Salvage crews on Thursday freed a grounded sailing ship that became stuck earlier this week while entering Channel Islands Harbor in stormy seas. Beachgoers cheered as the crew tugged the San Pedro-based Irving Johnson out of the sand bar. "The boat is free," said Chris Grisafe, a spokesman for the U.S. Coast Guard. "She's seaworthy for the immediate purposes." Salvage crew members were inspecting the boat to assess the damage, he said. Teams emptied the water and dug a temporary berm on the shore side of the boat so that waves breaking on the beach would instead bounce back and push the boat to sea. Salvagers planned to tug the boat five miles to Ventura Harbor, Grisafe said. Twenty passengers and crew members were aboard the 90-foot brigantine when it hit the sandbar Monday. They were rescued after they fell or jumped into the chilly waters. Three of them were treated for hypothermia.
  17. Aye, I will be going back this year, but I don't have any lodging suggestions. I am sure one of the members of Blackbeards Crew on here will pick up the thread and provide one. Hope to see you there Duncan
  18. The Juryrig will have at least 6 crew members there that weekend.
  19. Why does this sound suspiciously like something I'd do? Would / Did / Will Do Again . . . And Again And Again :)
  20. Hey - I had the honor of taking the last bottle from Perkeo's Pub last Pennsic - but damn, Creme DeMent is not your usual party alcohol. I am looking forward to visiting the Pub again this year, and I will have lots of my choc. covered grain cherries. :)
  21. My mistake - the Dixi gun is steel jacketed, and they have a ball mold for it too :)
  22. Thanks for the link to the one at Dixi - thats a nice looking piece too. I'll have to give that one some consideration - one thing I noticed is that there is no mention of jacketing. The one from Wild Imports is jacketed if I remember right.
  23. Yeah - I've been scouting out local places I can take it to for some real fun. BTW - Did you get the optional casting kit ?
