  2. Everything that the officers, warrants and their mates needed done. The common seaman did the cleaning, painting, repairs, overhaul the sails and rigging, transferring of supplies, cargo and passengers, stowing cargo, refill water casks, manning and, rowing ship's boats, etc. The sailors were never idle for long as they were the ship's labor and craftsman.   8. Aye Hawkyns, yes it was a splendid night and the lads were in rare form indeed. I skipped the rum but had a few sips from the keg.

  10. As Hawkyns says many events are run for maintenance of the facility year round. One that I attend is a maritime museum of which I'm an annual member. Although entitled to two event freebees a year I still pay at the gate as this money is used to keep the museum profitable and open to the general public. I go in kit to add to the pirate feel of the event and because it's a overall fun weekend.
  11. Thankee Mr. Brand. I'll be looking forward to her producing them. Today is the first day that it was warm enough not to wear a Monmouth Cap in almost three months.
  12. I just ordered a KnitKriket Monmouth Cap for the raffle to be held at the Pirates 4 Salty Ball. Kristen was kind enough to enclose a Gunniston Purse as an additional raffle. Her work is top shelf. William - Is she going to start making the whalers caps???? Jas. Hook

  14. I was in a local supermarket yesterday an ran into a lad working in the meat section. As he was wearing a black knit beanie cap with an embroidered skull and crossbone I said that I liked the embroidery and asked if he was into pirates? He explained that he was wearing the emblem because of his schooling. He explained that wasa two year mortuary art student therefore the skull and bones. Jas. Hook
