  3. Again to the practice. When the arms chest was brought up and pistols loaded and passed out I wonder how much prior practice most had before facing an armed combatant. Jas. Hook
  4. My opinion in the GAoP were talking one shot at body mass, hit 'em or make 'em flinch, with a follow up with blade or axe that was in the other hand. Comparing then with now multi-shot pistols and revolvers I don't feel that the combatants had much time to take up any formal stance as there was no second shot or 50 foot accuracy. Jas. Hook

  12. Actually, in Tim Power's book On Stranger Tides a regenerated Blackbeard (now called Edmund Morcilla) does return shortly after his death at Ocracoke. Interesting if they'll work something like that into a POTC-5? Jas. Hook
  13. Kind of like when Israel Hand went up the mast after Jim Hawkins in Treasure Island. Jas. Hook
  14. D - In Swashbuckler, the knife thrower Cudjo (Goffrey Holder) wasn't mentioned as a pirate only a previous acquaintance of Nick Debrett, that had a talant for throwing knives perhaps as an entertainer (given the knife carrying rig he wears) with a checkered past. Although common in movies as a quick way to dispatch an enemy sentry or pin a pickpockets coat sleeve to the wall... the question remains why throw away a perfectly good knife? Jas. Hook
  15. Ye could always hold a 'sack' race. Jas. Hook Actually, I'm reading a book on lost treasures in America... one chapter has the Mormons very interested in lost Spanish gold and silver.
  16. Eye - Oi, she not be one o' 'em free swimn' nasties left over from POTC-4 On Stranger Tides, be she?????? Loverly creature though. Jas. Hook Be wary young sailor of wind and high water The sea has a secret, the sea has a daughter She'll swim along starboard and capture your heart With a swish of her tail soon she'll depart
  17. Swab - Much smaller than the cannon ball downrigger molds, under saltwater fishing Google molds for Fluke Balls. You might find something close to what you need as they come in a number of sizes, just mold leaving out wire eyes. An alternative is to contact Hilts or Do-It molds directly. di Jas. Hook
  18. Dark lanterns I've read about were being used in small craft during cutting out raids against an enemy ships or positions. Used as a shielded or shuttered light source for signals, taking compass bearings, light fuses, etc. No MiniMag lights or Zippo lighters then. Jas. Hook
  19. WRW - Having watched the Youtube clip it sounded like something else but in regards to supporting the Luna. Jas. Hook
