Unaware of that series... don't tell me that there's yet another 20+ book nautical series out there.

Just checked... only 17 in the series... piece of cake!

Hummmm... I picked up a booklet for my great nephew yesterday. It is a National Geographic publication How to be a Pirateby John Halam. In regards to your baldness question the author and the illustrator (Dave Antram) chose about 10% of the pirates illustrated as being bald.

Haven't got a clue as to value but it's a neat sword. I wonder if the scabard can be restored?
The rivet washers on the handle are they some type of coins? If they are it's a neat idea.

To those readers of the Aubrey/Maturin Series by Patrick O'Brien who have enjoyed it, you can also continue on very similar reading in Dudley Pope's Lord Ramage Series and Alexander Kent's Bolitho Series.

I guess it depends on what image you want to present. Short because you wear a wig, or look like Pintel in POTC or Mr. Bowen in Cuthroat Island. A lot of pirates were shown having top-knots.

I couldn't get to the museum site link listed by this knitter.
It would appear to be a generic type of hand knit woolen cap called by various names depending on its national origin or port-of-call where the cap may have been obtained.
