The Friends of Fort Frederick State Park and the staff of Fort Frederick State Park are pleased to host the 28th annual 18th Century Market Fair. The public are welcome Thursday, April 25 through Sunday, April 28. Public hours are: Thursday through Saturday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Sunday 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Participant registration will begin on Wednesday morning, April 24th. See the Event Information 2024 document on this website for gate hours. VOLUNTEERS: Market Fair volunteers please read the 2024 notice to Volunteers AUCTION to be held on Saturday! Come to historic Fort Frederick, an original stone fort built in 1756 during the French and Indian War and travel back in time to an authentic 18th century market fair. A whiff of campfires fills the air. Colorful entertainers are found strolling about the fair. There are over 100 sutlers (period vendors) selling 18th century wares: pottery, tin and copper ware, clothing, material and patterns, books, fireplace and cooking hardware, flintlock muskets and accoutrements, horn wares, paintings and prints, lanterns and other camp gear, etc. Blanket trading is conducted in the camper area. See hundreds of fair-goers of all ages dressed in colonial clothing: artisans, soldiers, ladies & gentlemen, Native Americans, longhunters, traders, servants, etc. Free entertainment for all. The Fair is open to sutlers, traders, street vendors and entertainers as well as individuals, groups, military units and American Indians portraying the appropriate time period and geographic area, representing eastern North America from 1730 through 1790. The Fair is a Juried Event for camper and sutlers, but open daily to all visitors. Attending Market Fair is a wonderful way to increase ones knowledge of the period, particularly the French and Indian War period, and the role that historic Fort Frederick played in that conflict and in protecting the Maryland frontier in general https://friendsoffortfrederick.info/market_fair.html

  5. Well, here's one for the record books. The Pilgrim in Dana Pt is no more. It sank in its birth in 2020 and was demolished after determining it was unsafe to lift. https://www.danapointtimes.com/pilgrim-demolished-no-determination-cause-sinking/
  6. Billy always has that look of "I know something that you dont" and that sparkle in the eye!
  7. Just talked to "Aaron" of the Alliance of the DoubleCross. Not sure what his pub name was but he was excited and we talked about his upcoming retirement and the fact he would be able to do a lot more pyrate events. He also mentioned some possibility of a local gathering. He was prompting me to reopen SlopsByChaaps... all I can say is we'll see...
  8. I've been mostly shipwrecked since the pandemic. But I'm looking forward to new adventures in travel. we'll see how it works out...
  9. THAT lends a whole new meaning to a message in a bottle! just imagine picking that up on the shore of France and reading the scroll inside that the pub is back!
  10. I reached "Mission" today and we talked about Historical Pyracy, goats, the pub and a host of pyrate related topics. Its really a blast to reach out and talk to these folks, its been too long.
  11. I called "Kenneth" and he answered! I gave him the Pyracy pub opening Spiel and then we chatted briefly. He was excited about the pyracy pub. We talked about logging in to the pub and that he would have to get a login reset, but he can still read without logging in in the mean time. We also talked briefly about new events and getting ready for work.
  12. The only thing better than Chocolate cake is Chocolate cake with a Slanted Jack and PB&J (peanut butter & jelly) filling! BTW I think you need to cut that with a sword...
  13. On this 20th Anniversary of the Pub and its Reopening, I attempted to call Capt Jim, Capt John Sterling, and Iron Jon. But all I got was Voice mail. I left a message for each of them announcing the pub was back up. Obviously none of them recognize my number or they were otherwise "strung" up. Yaaarrrr!
  14. I just want to introduce myself as a new moderator to the Armoury. As MadPete (Peter Chaaps), I've been on the pub and in the pirate world since 2009. You may know me from the Fort Taylor Pirate Invasion, Searles, Ojai, Dana Point, Utah Pirate Invasion, Long Beach, or Put In Bay. Prior to my turning Pirate, I was heavily involved in American Civil War artillery groups, American War for Independence, and general black powder shooting. There are some big shoes to fill here as moderator with the passing of Cascabel. I only hope I can do a satisfactory job... Kudos to our dearly departed Cascabel for the great job he did here in the past. Dont be afraid to reach out and say Hi! I 've missed you all.
