Join the festival fun in 'The Brac' on 30th November and join the pirate revellers around the bonfire at the Kick-Off party. Discover the heritage displays and enjoy the parade and festival fireworks! It's a full day of Cayman Brac culture and swashbuckling fun. Cayman Brac is located in the warm Caribbean Sea, one of a three island archipelago. The islands are situated south of Cuba and northwest of Jamaica. The Brac, as the island is commonly referred to, is the most easterly of the Cayman Islands. The island gets its name from the bluff (Brac is Gaelic for bluff), elevated limestone rock which directly down the centre of the island, reaching its peak at 144 feet. With a total land mass of 14 square miles, the island is small enough to maintain a peaceful, tranquil atmosphere but big enough to have a plethora of hidden caves, winding trails and a unique cultural history. The history and culture of Cayman Brac's people can still be experienced. The elders of the community grew up plaiting thatch, laying rope, making turtle nets, cooking in the caboose or building catboats and schooners and has worked hard to pass on this knowledge and traditions to younger generations. Folklore says Cayman Brac became a prominent home for pirates more than two centuries ago. These “Brethren of the Sea,” as they were called, came in search of places to hide their stolen treasures. Edward “Blackbeard” Teach was said to have been one of the scurvy sea dogs to come ashore in the sister island. untilSunday is Pirate Day Both days will transport you back to the 16th century, in the age of Queen Elizabeth in England, but on Sunday the emphasis shifts to pirates and vendors will bring out pirate wares and many will dress as pirates. Just For The Children Buccaneer Boot Camp is where kids get balloon swords and receive basic training in swordsmanship. This will enable them to safely and accurately engage in sword fights with our pirate crew, using their cutlass balloon swords. As part of the training, they will also learn various sailor and pirate terminologies, enabling them to speak like a seasoned pirate. This activity takes place several times a day at the pirate ship. There is also a children’s play area with games, a daily costume contest with prizes and more. https://ccrenfaire.com/

untilThe Brixham Pirate Festival always takes place on the first May bank holiday weekend of the year. In 2025, the dates for The Brixham Private Festival are 3rd May 2025 – 5th May 2025. One of Britain’s biggest and best (in our humble opinion), Pirate Festivals! The Brixham Pirate Festival began in 2007 when members of the community decided to create an event to liven up one of the quietist bank holidays of the year. Since those humble beginnings, the festival has grown into one of the biggest pirate gatherings in the world, and attracts people from all four corners to partake in a weekend of Piratical merriment! The 3-day festival takes place across the entire town, with its epicentre around the harbour (the centre of Brixham), and the main stage under the Old Fish Market. https://quaysidehotel.co.uk/activities/brixham-pirate-festival/ https://brixhampirates.com/
