Everyone, Just thought I'd drop a line to let everyone know the re-opening of Slop Shop Reproductions will occur here in the next few months. However, we are changing things around a bit. Instead of offering all the various styles that we did beforehand, we have decided just to make the Slop Contract garments. I have been making these style of garments for awhile for my Royal Navy shipmates, just never offered them openly. More details about what slop contracts we will be using and the details thereof will be posted on the website when we can finally get things going. Another change is that we will be offering the garments in runs. This will produce better service…

I usually don't like to post e-bay links but this is interesting if it proves to be actual hemp rope. Sissal, Jute, and Hemp can all look the same from an ebay photo! EDIT: Upon further inspection... I am not sure that I think this is Hemp rope. A lot of folks selling really don't know the difference and the way the ends are fraying makes me think that its sissal/jute. I could be wrong but.... 175 Feet of Hemp Rope

In the bit of cyber searching I have done one thing I notice it that there is a shortage of period shoes. Or I am just a lousy shoe hunter. Seems I can find most clothing items after a fashion. But shoes / boots - that is another story. The time period I am looking at is around 1680 to 1730. At least that is the time period of the crew I have been talking to. What would the average sailor where (not going barefoot) and is there something to be had for less than the $200 - $150 range I have been seeing. thanke mates if it burns blue, drink it

We're thinking of taking the kids to an event, and we're looking for some sort of period cart, like an Amish goat cart or pumpkin wagon. Anyone know of a place that sells them. I've seen them online, but I'm wondering if anyone knows of a store within two hours drive of Baltimore that might have them so that I could plop the kids in and see if they both fit. Hey Merc, you are up Lanc'ster way, have you seen any up there? Thanks

Hi Gals, Just thought I would drop a note here about some boots I found at of all places Walmart. I have big calves and it's tuff for me to find boots but Walmart right has some very soft microsuede boots that accomodate us that have large calves..husssah! They are about a 2 inch spikey heel and are a microsued material that has the scrunch look to it. They are very soft and would make for a nice piratess boot for under long skirts. The best part is they are only 22 bucks. I ended up buying two pairs one a 1/2 size up...I never know when I can find another pair of boots that will actually fit me. They had these in black and a really pretty chestnut brown. Have a…

I recently ordered a pair of thigh high boots. However they do not fit my calves or thigh, being too tight. Therapy has added to the muscle and now I need to see if I can make my boots fit..Besides splitting the back seam and placing grommets to lace them are there any other suggestions?

Yes, I know they are pricey, but this will help give an idea of what we should be looking for for GAoP VERY GOOD COLONIAL PERIOD ENGLISH HANGER, ca. 1680-1720 n overall very good+ condition with smooth lightly toned surfaces to the unmarked, lightly cleaned, 23", single edged, clip-point back-blade: retains 65%+ of its polish with some scattered discoloration and fine pitting. Brass hilt with an oval shell guard embossed with a raised Death Heads angel. The integral knuckle bow, quilon and pommel-cap with an embossed floral design. The curved, possibly replaced, deer antler grip. An overall very good+ near fine example of an Early Colonial Period Infantry Hanger. Over…

Those of you with parrots, parakeets, canaries etc. I need your birds' molted feathers. Colorful feathers are the best. I even use the smallest ones that have color. My stock of feathers is extremely low. I will make you a free hat pin in trade. Please email me. Thanks, Rumba Rue

The Los Angeles based Classical Blade Society offers foil, epee and sabre fencing and training in the classical European style. An interest from many reenactors has led to private lessons in historic sabre, spadroon, cutlass and other weapons, (Not sport fencing). Classes are held in the upstairs dance hall of the historic Glendale Centre Theatre. For more information visit: http://classicalbladesociety.com/
