This was burried in another post... So I thought I would liberate it and add more as I see em' Capn' Pete Fancy can be tricky... as fancier materials generally would call for fancier buttons and trims, which can be harder to pull of well than a justaucorps made out of plainer materials.. Really nice textiles are tricky as "print" patterns are hard to find in a reasonalbly authentic pattern. That being said, I have found some folks that reproduce our textiles and are quite nice.... Check out some of them on my resources page here http://www.gentlemenoffortune.com/Links.htm Take a look at the E-Luxus site, I drool over that Bizarre pattern (that was only around during …

Sailed across these items on ebay and while me own coins do not allow me to bid I do think they look cool. Thar be a french sword, tricorne and other items including an 1812 cartridge box listed by this seller, some as being 200 plus years old, again very cool. Me own novice eyes would not know the diff but I be wondering what some of you who've been in the trade a bit longer might think of these items, authenic or not? I have for sale one early 1700s frock coat. It's the prototype that was used for the photoshoot for our website. It was only worn for a few minutes for this photo: It is made from olive green 100% wool gabardine (tropical wool a.k.a. "summer weight") and lined with natural linen. There are nearly 100 pewter buttons on the front, back vent, sides, cuffs and pockets. The coat is US size 38. I understand that is equivalent to European size 48 (chest ~96.5 cm). It will also fit a woman American size 8/10. The first $250 takes it. I will ship anywhere in the world. Customer pays shipping. PM me if you're interested. I accept money orders, checks in US funds, cred…

As some of you know, I've been pressed into service as a doctor. Under good advice I've begon purchasing supplies and a medical book from Goodwin. In result, I've just recieved said book, a forceps, a scissors and an amputation knife. The sciccors is of standard size and a bit curved. (Basic but to the point) The forceps are of good size and perfect for the crowd to see (About the size of a kitchen scissors) The amputation knife is a curved blade with the blade being curved downward. Said knife is abou tthe size of a good butcher or bread knife. (Sharp too) The book is written in old world english and will be a good study for my personna. Though I believe it was for…

Finished with a couple of leather baldrics. I'm posting them here mostly for comment or creative criticism, but if somebody needs one, I'm sure I could be persuaded to part with one or both -- and at special Pub pricing, to boot. These are both somewhat more roughly constructed than most I've seen. Rather than machine-stitched, these are completely hand constructed, sewn with leather lacings. Everything made by me, except of course for the buckles. It may be a bit hard to see great detail in some of the pics, black leather lacing on a black leather baldric... well... it blends a bit, but does show up more in person. An overall view: A closer shot of the frog arra…

I was looking for a fairly good pirate style cutlass to use at reinactments. I have found several very cheap pieces that will not stand up to even stage combat. I also found a few somewhat expensive pieces that will. ie.... museam, replica... I was hopeing that mabye someone knows where I can get a fairly good blade, that will withstand the rigors of stage fighting on a beach, for a fairly good price. Thanks... The Capt.

This is my latest creation. I made one last Halloween but gave it away. (I'm such a generous pyrate). This thing has 18 yards of ribbon. I haven't yet decided what route I want to take as far as buttons. The last coat I made had mismatched buttons to give it the appearance that buttons had been lost, found, and scrounged through the years. Anyhoo, what do ye think?

We're well underway with issue two which should be out at the end of January. We've had such a demand for the first issue that if Borders/Barnes&Noble/Waldenbooks/Booksamillion or any other chain wants them. . . we may very well have to reprint (which is a good thing. . .we moved the balance of the stock this week to a much smaller holding area. . HUZAHHH!) Anyway, the chance to get the first issue with all the plank owner booty (plank owners = initial subscribers) ends on December 31. I'm pushing now because I know the rest of the first issue is liable to disappear prior to the Xmas rush. . . we just ordered special pirate gift cards for gift subscriptions. If i…

I salvaged a couple of buckles from an almost-completely rotted-away saddle baldric. They were tarnished to such a degree it was really hard to tell exactly what shape they were in, so I cleaned 'em up with some lemon juice and steel wool, and discovered: Unless I'm very much mistaken, the one on the left appears to be copper, or at least a particularly heavy copper mix of brass. The color values in the pic aren't perfect, the actual buckle is an even richer copper-color than it shows here. So, if I'm going to use it for anything, I'll have to possibly find some other copper or coppoer-toned hardware (which, after a quick Google, doesn't seem that likely, to my chag…

So for reasons I don't feel like explaining, I have two pair of Caboots tan Pirates II Jack Sparrow boots (A). I don't know what the A is for, but it's on the description. They're a size 10.5, but they fit me and I usually wear an 11.5. The pair I'm selling has never been worn, in fact they haven't even been out of the box. I've worn the other pair (not for sale) and they are some of the most comfortable boots ever, imho. So if you want a pair of great boots, make me an offer!! Sorry I don't have pics, but if you look on Caboots.com you'll see what they look like.

I picked up "Pirate Soul" last week at a hobbie store. It is much like Pirates and Piratology in that in contains pop ups, small letters you can remove, playing cards, and maps. It reminds me of the "Griffin and Sabine" books on the early 90's that were all the rage. Check it out if you get the chance. It might make a nice holiday gift for a fellow Pirate.

Ahoy mates. As some of you who've been around for a while have no doubt noticed, I don't post here very often. I've started identifying more as a sailor, rather than just a pirate. It's where I've spent most of my time, and it's where my knowledge is. That being said... I've a question for all of you. One of the more common ways for a sailor (and yes, this includes pirates) to spend time was to do rope/knotwork. This was rarely just for practice - there was plenty of that during work hours. Instead, it'd be some personal effect. One of the more common items that I've seen made are sennit lanyards made out of tarred twine (don't worry, the tar doesn't get all over …
