Ahoy!! New member saying hello. The name is Billy Longblades (Bill) and I'm currently marooned in the northeast tip of Maryland, a small port called Elkton. The necks are redder than a month at se would bring ye around here. Me wench and I frequent the ports of Mt. My name isn't really Larry...but it sorta rhymes... Anyway, I'm new here. I'm getting into the whole pirate reinactment thing slowly...joining a local San Diego group...the HMS Stranglehold. Friday was really nice, but by late Saturday the wind had changed and the smoke from the fires was drowning the event and made me very sick. Sadly, we had to pack everything up and come home. We could clearly see the flames from the fires heading straight for Santa Paula and Ojai from the 126. There was a HUGE caravan of firetrucks along 126. We got home around 11:30 PM and finally in bed an hour later. Sadly I was horribly ill, and the Porcline God became my friend for a short time. Heard on CBC radio "The Early Show" this morn of a Vancouver BC household who has a Pirate Treehouse. They've been attacked by petty bureaucrats who say they need to spend $4000 or so for a building permit, even though the treehouse is not visible from the road. Flying under false colors, the city were, since they had told these noble folk that they did not need any permit when they began. I'm trying to find out a link, picture, etc - any Canadian Pirates out there? I think these fool bureacrats need to be keel-hauled - or at least drowned in ridicule!

***PRIZE UPDATE*** We had a glitch awhile back with the first contest, which resulted in some of the votes being deleted. God this hurts! Well, I just got back from the ER! Thurs, I had some pain in my midsection, (1 two many situps or I ran too hard??) maybe even gas??? Wake up at 2am with more pain... Go into work by 3pm, and by 7pm have spasems and mucho pain only now down the right side of the groin. Hernia???? But you can't keep a good Rats down and I finish up my shift then drive like harlot at high-tide to the hospital. So now I just got home after being hooked to a morphine drip and having all kinds of pokes and prods!!! I'M tired, sore and doped up! Man this hurts!! Rats

One of my shipmates has finally finished building his own two seater airplane, and rightfully deemed it to have some Piratical noseart. The problem has been to come up with some sort of Pirate slogan under the Skull and Crossbones imagery... We were thing some sort of "Death from Above!" type of phrase, but obviously with more of a Pirate twist to it. Any ideas? Thanks, Pirate King

I just wanted to say that I have really enjoyed my time on this site. NEVER before have I met a better group of people, on the whole, than those that are here. I have been able to be silly and serious without anyone jumping down on me. Now of romance and reality of pirates, I have seen some of you in Port Washington and though I did not get to meet you I got to see how you acted. The romance is what will bring most of the new commers to this game. Then once in they can choose which to follow the romance or the reality.
