Capt. Sterling Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 Tentative dates Nov. 30-Dec. 29, 2007. Gettysburg, PA... same time as Pip? "I being shot through the left cheek, the bullet striking away great part of my upper jaw, and several teeth which dropt down the deck where I fell... I was forced to write what I would say to prevent the loss of blood, and because of the pain I suffered by speaking."~ Woodes Rogers Crewe of the Archangel http://jcsterlingcptarchang.wix.com/creweofthearchangel# http://creweofthearchangel.wordpress.com/
Cheeky Actress Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 Well, it's really November 30 thru December 2...but close enough. Yes, the East Coast gathering is scheduled the same as PIP, Key West event. Bummer! Member of "The Forsaken"
michaelsbagley Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 That is not going to be an easy choice to make... But I'm thinking that Florida in late November early December will be much nicer than Pennsivlania...
Cheeky Actress Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 Agreed. But November is hurrican season down there. Use to live there when I was very little. First time I realized that God didn't like mobile homes! Member of "The Forsaken"

hurricane Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 Agreed. But November is hurrican season down there. Use to live there when I was very little. First time I realized that God didn't like mobile homes! Sorry, that's some false information there.... Hurricane season officially ends on the first day of the festival. But the main hurricane season is long before that in August and September. Very few hurricanes have ever happened in November, let alone late November and those aren't in the keys. It's unfortunate they chose that date of all dates. I would have like to have gone to both. But I agree with several others - Florida in November/December much better than PA at the same time. Have fun up north... to quote Jimmy Buffett "I'd rather go where it's warm." - Hurricane -- Hurricane ______________________________________________________________________ http://piratesofthecoast.com/images/pyracy-logo1.jpg Captain of The Pyrates of the Coast Author of "Memoirs of a Buccaneer: 30 Year Before the Mast" (Published in Fall 2011) Scurrilous Rogue Stirrer of Pots Fomenter of Mutiny Bon Vivant & Roustabout Part-time Carnival Barker Certified Ex-Wife Collector Experienced Drinking Companion "I was screwed. Capt. Sterling Posted February 12, 2007 Author Posted February 12, 2007 Tis a bloody awful weekend PiP or not... especially in PA. What am I saying?? just got back from Chicago in Feb. From the sound of it this year's RF3 is a done deal, with the paperwork signed and all, but perhaps since you all seem to know your dates for PiP way in advance, Croaker and Cheeky can make sure that Mike B. knows ahead of time when he books for next year. Sorry about that Hurricane. It's been ages (I was 3 years old at the time), the last time I remember bad weather down there. Yes, I do remember it was in November 15th when a hurricane struck the Gulf Coast. Granted, storms (like the hurricane that struck Feb. 2, 2007) don't watch calendars and yes, they are flukes. Let’s pray that the weather will be extremely agreeable for those of us who venture south for PIP 2007! Member of "The Forsaken"
Mary Diamond Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 Yes, I noted the proposed dates for RFIII as being in conflict with PiP, but then I realized - No Problem! They are still holding the one 15 minutes away from me, in February (ish). 2006 PiP was warm (learning that linen is the way to go) but a most thoroughly enjoyable experience for us newbies. Oooh, shiny!
Capt. Sterling Posted February 13, 2007 Author Posted February 13, 2007 I can't tell you how much I would love the crewe to go to PiP, but I know most of us just can't swing it or the time off this year... hopefully next year! hurricane Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 I must say that PiP is beginning to be a real place to be. Harry and his crewe have been doing an awesome job of brining a real focus and purpose to the event and some really great re-enactors and soon to be re-enactors are jumping on board to make it be so. I was impressed with the gang there last year and know that this year will be even better. I can't wait to jump into to the fracus and live life circa 1680. -- Hurricane -- Hurricane ______________________________________________________________________ http://piratesofthecoast.com/images/pyracy-logo1.jpg Captain of The Pyrates of the Coast Author of "Memoirs of a Buccaneer: 30 Year Before the Mast" (Published in Fall 2011) Scurrilous Rogue Stirrer of Pots Fomenter of Mutiny Bon Vivant & Roustabout Part-time Carnival Barker Certified Ex-Wife Collector Experienced Drinking Companion "I was screwed. Capt. Sterling Posted February 13, 2007 Author Posted February 13, 2007 Damnation! Next year it is... please let us know 2008 dates asap so we can make sure RF5 isn't going to be another conflict... two crewe members are key figures in running RF events... I would hate to leave them behind... ahem... so as soon as they know they can make sure MB plans accordingly... Silkie McDonough Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 DAMNATION! I can't be two places a once! I have plans for PiP again! Harrisburg is so much closer than Key West but Key West is so much warmer than Harrisburg in November. I really wanted to go to RF3! Wanted to meet those people. ::sigh:: Additionally, I will most likely be meeting Callenish not far from Harrisburg to join him on the trip to PiP! Why didn't they consult with ME first?!
Cap'n Mad Eye Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 Ah yes...late November in in Central PA...lovely temps in the 30's and who knows what kind of weather to expect. And it's right during PiP?! Sheesh....that's rough.
Gentleman of Fortune Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 Yes, its going to be interesting to see the folks that "quasi-committed" to PiP back out to go to RF3.... GoF Come aboard my pirate re-enacting site http://www.gentlemenoffortune.com/ Where you will find lots of information on building your authentic Pirate Impression!
Cheeky Actress Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 (SIGH) Perhaps Reenactor Fest 3 will not have a strong Pyrate element in 2007 –though, perhaps the Pyrate Brethren will make an appearance. Hurricane, it sounds like a wonderful event. Perhaps I can convince my husband about going deep sea fishing with my uncle Kevin who runs a charter fishing business down there in the winter months, whilst I go enjoying the fun and frolic of the Pyrate event! William Brand Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 Blast. Well, I guess I'll have to shoot for Re-enactorfest IV.
Capt. Sterling Posted February 13, 2007 Author Posted February 13, 2007 Yes, its going to be interesting to see the folks that "quasi-committed" to PiP back out to go to RF3....GoF I wouldn't advise backing out of PiP this year for RF3... being in Gettysburg, PA, ACW folks should come out in large numbers... if the ACW folks of the midwest were against having pirates attend RF2, I can't image the die hearts on the east will like us any better... it will be a proving ground all over again, and a bit tougher, since we had the undying support of The Generals at RF2... honestly, I do not even think I can ask my crew to make the trip especially at that time of year... I may wander up because Cheeky will be there, perhaps I can volunteer in another area... if the PB does come out for it, then perhaps the crew might come but I cannot give the order for them to do so unless Blackjohn's group is set upon it... Shame its not the Lockhouse weekend (since this ended up being only one day) then perhaps we could do both... but... playing this one by ear. Capt. Sterling Posted February 13, 2007 Author Posted February 13, 2007 Blast.Well, I guess I'll have to shoot for Re-enactorfest IV. Honestly the next one in Chicago should be great. Lots of repeat attendees and after RF2 with Pete breaking the ice betwixt all the groups from RF1, RF4 should be the absolute best. Even the vendors were getting into the whole event and really having fun with the non vendors... LOTS of new friendships were made and a lot of respect for each other as well. Captain Jim Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 I second William's comment. Perhaps next time. My occupational hazard bein' my occupation's just not around...

Careful Captain. That was a comment made only by a handful of individuals at one event last summer. Sadly, those of us who’ve been reenacting for ages know that there are those who are less tolerant of other time periods. Perhaps they feel that ‘their’ time period is ‘the only one that matters’ or just plain ignorant to the fact that there are those of us who may show no interest in their time, doesn’t make us any less important in our desire to educate or inform the public of our specific time line. The Archangel Crew set forth to prove to those who questioned our caliber that we can educate, entertain, and put our best foot forward. They did a wonderful job of it! This is also one of the reasons why Reenactor Fest was created. It was not only to have a great time, but also to educate the public and other time periods as well. Member of "The Forsaken"
Capt. Sterling Posted February 14, 2007 Author Posted February 14, 2007 Careful Captain. That was a comment made only by a handful of individuals at one event last summer. Careful my foot! The comments opened a huge can of worms and put unnecessary stress on the crewe, and it came from a bunch of folks that not only didn't know us but never even heard of us... Thank God for the Generals and the other ACW folks like them.
