I'm assuming movie stars are the main focus here.

Maureen O'Hara was the pirate and generalyy swashbckling wench nonpareil. Against All Flags, The Black Swan, and At Sword's Point prove it. Too bad her movies were never as good as she was.

Geena Davis would be second.

Morgan the Pirate is a laughably bad movie, but Chelo Alonso with her wild dancing was certainly the most memorable part of it.

Keira Knightley, of course, is beautiful; she needs to be more piratical though.

That's about all the movie stars I can name. But I'll match the stars of The Cutlass' Daughters - Maureen MacLinden, Mary Tyrconnell, Gwendolyn Rivermere, Celeste l'Arromanchienne, Djongila, and Lily Ashton - up against any other pirate wenches from the world of film and fiction.

Well hmmm.....

-Geena Davis (o' course...Redd has a thing fer the dark haired ladies)

-Jane Seymour (Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger)

-Madeline Kahn (Mrs. Beard in Yellowbeard)

-Caroline Munro (Golden Voyage of Sinbad)

and...not so much fer looks...but true pirates they be!

-Miss Piggy!

-Anne Ramsey!

YARRR! The Oktober be silent now! Just call me "REDD!"

Aye! Miss Piggy be a proper pirate wench!

She be lurin' that frog close with all her porcine charm, then WHAM! he be "sailin'" across the deck.

Maureen O'Hara be one o'me favorite actresses. It takes quite a woman to play opposite John Wayne - and that she did in many a film. Me favorite bein' The Quiet Man.

Captain, we always knew you were a whoopsie.

Rumors of my death are entirely premature.

Lara Croft?

I can think of at least two good reasons why I think she has pirate blood in her. ;)

-Watch her handle a gun.

-She trots the globe going after shiny things (treasure!)

"Don't hate me because I'm beautiful. Hate me because I am robbing you, tossing you overboard, and stealing your ship!"

-the only thing more dangerous than her.. is her needle-

Ah A good question indeed!

It be a tie with all the fine wenches from this here port.

(BOWS)

Then, Caroline Munro from The Golden Voyages of Sinbad

Lucy Lawless from Xena

Maureen O'Hara

That would be my order.

Scupper

"That's the navy for you. Rum in the scuppers today. Blood in the scuppers tomorrow."

Thrist is a shameless disease. So here's to a shameful cure!

"Loyalty, honesty and directness are traits I admire. Insecurity, snipes and disrespect I will not tolerate in the least."

Ah well, Catherine Zeta Jones in Mask of Zorro and Gwyneth Paltrow in Shakespeare in Love would get my votes for top two. Got to think a bit more beyond that.

Hawkyns

Cannon add dignity to what otherwise would be merely an ugly brawl

I do what I do for my own reasons.

I do not require anyone to follow me.

I do not require society's approval for my actions or beliefs.

if I am to be judged, let me be judged in the pure light of history, not the harsh glare of modern trends.

I'll put me own vote in fer Angela Lansbury. Oh sure she may look like a sweet old dame, but she's played some evil ladies in her time. So for her roles of Ruth(Pirates of Penzance), Mrs Lovitts(Sweeney Todd) and the Lady Gwendolyn(Court Jester) and hell why not...also the voice of Mommy Fortuna in the animated Last Unicorn...I raise me hat to yeh from one innocent lookin' evil lady to another.

Jessica Lange... Arrrr, if I were a man, I would find her delightful to look at. A true beauty in my mind and a brilliant actor.

And linked to Sam Shepard... who's close friends with Bob Dylan... they keep good company, eh?

And lest we forget Holly Hunter? Feisty, pretty, talented, TEXAN!

Neither of these lasses have been in a pirate flick, but they could be, I think.

Though I've never seen her in any pirate films, I'd have to say the sexy, smouldering, sometimes-sinister Ava Gardner. And Rita Hayworth- a saucy lass! And I'd argue up hill and down dale for Lauren Bacall- she can keep a lad in order! :)
