DocF225
Me mates and I lament this around the fire at re-enactments all the time. Aye if'n only time travel were possible. I'd love to live in simpler times. That said, remember that many of us (especially those of us with 196* and earlier birthdates ) would be "old". I prefer simpler times, you took folks at their word, put in a days work for a days pay, and could let go and have fun without involving the lawyers. I do, however, like certain modern niceties (A/C, satellite navigation, computers, better longevity and the like) That's why I come 'ere. Doc Wiseman - Ship's Physician, Stur.. er... Capt. Flint
All of us are in a time, placed out of time. As for the simple life we all dream of.... it might be good to remember that each generation sees the one before it as a simpler time. I and my friends discuss what your saying a lot lass, and we alll have our own theories. I just try to remind myself that the time of yore was the most modern then, just as we are at our most modern now. The generations to come after us will most likely say the same of our time. That it was a simpler and better time to be in........ Can you truly picture people two or three hundred years from now re-enacting us and wondering how great it was to be here.. Just a thought... Longarm
Can you truly picture people two or three hundred years from now re-enacting us and wondering how great it was to be here.. Just a thought... The Capt. You bring up an interesting point. Do you really think people would find this era interesting enough to want to try and re-enact it? What parts might they use I wonder? It would be interesting if we could step back and look at ourselves thru someonelse's eyes. We may find out we have it easier than we thought. I love the smell of gunpowder in the morning. To me it smells like....PIRACY!
crimsoncrow
I know those feelings well. Those who call me friend have always agreed that I was not geared for this time. The only time I feel at peace is when I go visit the Big Salty. (And that is a five hour drive from my current berth.) Just about a year to go, and I shall never have to leave the coast again. That will cure part of my ache. Stepping into "The Pub", helps soothe another part . Keep your fin up and when those Lemmings about you in traffic are acting knavish, Just think like I do.
