Gentleman of Fortune
Ok Mission... I have checked all your journals... and have seen a LOT of links. Unless I am going blind, you seem to have missed one that is near and dear to me... a grudge or am I just being overlooked? (or am I blind and missed it?) Come aboard my pirate re-enacting site http://www.gentlemenoffortune.com/ Where you will find lots of information on building your authentic Pirate Impression! Mission
Eh? I always try to link to things related to the text of my journals when I can. What have I missed? Mycroft: "My brother has the brain of a scientist or a philosopher, yet he elects to be a detective. What might we deduce about his heart?" John: "I don't know." Mycroft: "Neither do I. But initially he wanted to be a pirate."
Swalp
Ahoy there mateys! 2009 was my first year at PIP and had a wonderful time....er, except for a few ordeals with the fireants! Thank you all for a pleasant welcoming and I hope to see you all again next year! Here are what few pics I collected on my ventures outside the WH vendor tent, tho that "Auto sutler" thing comes in handy once in a while. Let me know if the link doesn't work! Thanks and take care!!! Sherry http://s49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/sherrywalp/PIP%202009/
MorganDrake
Uh...right. Hey, I have some serious questions for anyone who can answer them from the photos. First, what is the name of the guy who was running the Forge? He's in this pic with Scarlett. What group is he with? ___ Who are these folks -- especially the girl in white and the guy in the sleeveless denim blue shirt by her? What group are they with? ___ What's the name of the guy with no shirt? I think he's with the BIBs. Who is the girl in the straw hat, grey pants and white shirt squatting in the background? Group? ___ What is FM Matt's wife's name? I don't know if it's actually Matt's wife or not, but her name is Sarah. She also works at Pirates Magazine. And I put up some more pics on one of my many pages. u can go to facebook or myspace
Mission
Say, you got some good ones, Swalp. Do you mind if I use some of them for the Surgeon's Journal webpage? This is a great photo of Greg. I've never seen him looking so action figure-ish. What was going on here? What crime was Crudbeard being charged with? (Those glasses remind me of the ones that Nazi agents used in WWII. Wicked.) Jamaica Rose
I've spent many hours last night and today looking over the photos from PiP this year. What wonderful memories they bring up. And images of so much I didn't see while in Florida. I am so impressed. Especially with M.A.D. Dogge's photos - those are simply painterly, looking like they are from the brush of an old master, each one telling a fascinating story. Michael and I had been away from PiP for several years (though we first came in 1997, then came every year from 1999 - 2004), so this year's event was so impressive. Wish I had had more time to meet more people and chat. Next year we hope to drive out (from California), so we can set up camp on the beach in the pirate camp. I took a LOT of photos. But I've been really busy the past month. While finishing up our kid's pirate book, and trying to get next issue of No Quarter Given out, I've been so frustrated I have'nt had time to process my PiP photos. Somehow, I started working on them in reverse. I just got the photos from final day of PiP (Sunday) posted on MySpace. http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewAlbums&friendID=329306395 I welcome comments, and tagging. Stay tuned for photos from the other days (still have over 2000 left to slog through). --Jamaica Rose --Jamaica Rose Editor of No Quarter Given - since 1993 http://www.noquartergiven.net/ "Bringing a little pirate history into everyone's life" Find No Quarter Given ... on Facebook: facebook.com/noquartergiven ... and on Twitter: @NoQuarterGiven

Swalp
Thank you Mission! Help yourself sir, I'm happy to oblige! Greg seems to have that Capt. Morgan thing going on, quite picturesque I thought! As far as Crudbeard, it was punishment time for the redcoats...I believe Barbara was having a good time with it! Sherry Say, you got some good ones, Swalp. Guest
This is where I am right now... and what they say about what I just got.... http://www.pctools.com/threats/view/name/Internet%20Security%202010/?ref=google_internetsecurity2010&gclid=CIL7spqUzp8CFSEbawodnyfE0Q Internet Security 2010 is a rogue antivirus, which means it’s a program that pretends to be an antivirus program, but is actually designed to infect your PC. PC Tools have seen this rogue being forced onto the PCs of users who have unwittingly visited malicious websites. These websites take advantage of interest in current affairs and world events, such as the Haiti earthquake or the NFL superbowl by showing up in search engine results for the topics of interest. When a person clicks on one of the malicious links, their browser is redirected until a fake antivirus message pops up, enticing the person to download the malicious installer file. If the person clicks anywhere within the browser, the download and installation will start automatically.
Mission
Patrick, I think you may have gotten that somewhere else. I checked out the photo page and it didn't trip my virus checker. Nor did it pop-up the window that is associated with the Internet Security 2010 download. The Callahans use one of those photo sharing sites and if they got such a thing, they'd probably remove it quickly. Usually you pick such things up from dodgy sites like game tip sites, porn sites and Microsoft's site. (Just kidding about that last. I think.) I suggest searching for "remove Internet Security 2010." I have to keep the work computers well-fed, happy and virus-free and I find there are a lot of people out there who will give you advice on how to remove such things. Be careful about downloading other people's unknown programs to remove the virus/malware unless you're pretty sure of the source. (Otherwise you may just compound the error.) Also be careful about editing your registry, which this program seems to require. If you mess up your registry badly enough, you're probably looking at "re-format your hard drive" time. You may also have to try several ways to get it off - not everyone knows everything. One other bit of advice to one and all - recent incarnations of Internet Explorer and all the Firefox version I know of have pop-up blockers as a part of their make-up. Turning these on will avoid some of this sort of stuff. (I don't know about the Mac browsers since I don't use it, but I'd be surprised if they didn't have such as well.) N.B. According to this site, which sounds pretty good to me, if you see this: "HOLD DOWN THE POWER BUTTON FOR 10 SECONDS! [ie. Use the power button to turn off your computer immediately.] Seriously. If they really are infected with a real virus, powering off won’t be any worse. Some of these things are tricky and will try and install themselves no matter which way you click, and they look just like a real Windows error message. Powering off is just the simplest and best option..." Mycroft: "My brother has the brain of a scientist or a philosopher, yet he elects to be a detective. What might we deduce about his heart?" Bloody Babara...uh...let's just leave it at that. (Man, I want a pair of those glasses.) Great Scott! Look at that butt! (Of the gun! The gun! Shay of the Keys and her gun.) *Sigh* Where was this photo when I was doing this year's Surgeon's Journal? (No, I'm not going back and changing it.) The lovely RJ showing off her new tat from Ireland. (How does she keep her socks up. Damned if I can keep mine up that well.) Carribean Pearl (I think) and...I don't know who. (Isn't the cross meant to ward off guys like that?) Mission
Jamaica Rose. I want a feather like that. (I have now lost all my original feathers. *Sigh*) Yikes! (Sorry, Indy.) A very nice shot of Mark and Jennie Gist. And one of Michael and Kate. (Sorry, nothing funny is coming to mind, but these are nice shots.) Oreo, getting his feathers ruffled. (Fortunately he always keeps them numbered...for just such an emergency.) Based on the position of the sun, relative to the meridian and with a quick glance at my hidden wristwatch, I'd say it's 11:00. ("Why? What happens at 11 o'clock?") "Oyez. Oyez. The court will now consider the case of who ruffled Oreo's feathers!" Cannibal Chrispy and his flower, Rusty Nell. (It's the bright yellow that makes her look like a flower to me.) Mission
I take it that's your vic... auction friend? I can't really see it in the format that webshots offers you as the standard. (I had a lot of trouble with the photos I posted - I actually had to go back through the first set twice to figure out how to post the larger images.) A thought for Fayma and Poppa - if you're interested, check out Google images! The size restrictions are much easier to take than most other free photo hosting sites and the way to use the photos is far more intuitive. Uploading photos is a little goofy because the best way is to use another program - Picassa - but it's now my favored photo hosting site. Key West...the city of brotherly love. *Ahem* I use Picassa extensively a slick program that I use before I use even Photoshop, After battling Webshots this time I think I will change over to Google to upload providing they will let me upload the massive amount of files that I put up for each event and each year. Went to Webshots because I can upload up to 45k files before I run into any kinda limit. So if I can get an upper limit that exceeds 10k files I will seriously consider it. The 450 video files I can upload is a bonus and working on that for all of The Family. And ahem, yea Webshots is a lot wonky and not very intuitive. Bear with me, while I figure it all out. Hopefully will be able to get a hosted site from Stynky once Fayma gets back on task. PS sorry it took so long to get these up, kept getting distracted by JSF issues with GE. Check out the top folder as it contains the constantly added too folder of art base files. 200+ and counting, these will probably end up being the basis for the posters for 2010. This coming year we will try to greenscreen or set up a few pose places in the fort, bring your props, (and not that modern use of "props" whatever that means). PS if I figure out the site I'll start posting my faves from this year, keeping it under 6meg, hint, hint ((Stynky) special dispensation requested) Pictures on Google at: http://picasaweb.google.com/jamesacallahan100 Itty Bitty pictures here in the Gallery, Soon!
