  11. all right me mates; I be needin the help of those of ye in the Portland/Vancouver area. I have a young lad who wishes to impress a lass o his with the charms of a pirate dinner for her birthday. Do any of ye know of such a place in the area.
  12. Alright mates; I've searched this here forum and other sites on the net and have found very little reference to the origins of Davy Jones. My personal experience comes from the Naval service, and the traditional "crossing the line ceremony". The story was that Jones was a ruthless and notorioius pirate whose crew mutinied and threw him over the side. In retaliation Davy jones now preys upon other pirates ships by rising up on a great whale and scuttling them to the bottom of his realm, where he plunders their riches. I would be interested in anyone else's information about this legendary person we all refer to.
  13. Masterfully done, a very nice piece.

  18. Lass; Thank ye for the wonderful information on yer site. I did notice the absence of hatcrafters in your hat section. their address is www.hatcrafters.com . On pages 5A and 5B there are several tricorns and period headgear to choose from.
  19. Sam Elliot; He's a credit to his profession. I met him at a civil war reeactment in Virginia that we were participating in. He had flown out there from Arizona where he'd been shooting the night before on" Tombstone". Took the red eye out to help raise money to save the Brandy Station battlefield. He spoke with the crowd all day and made his plea in the uniform he had worn in "Gettysburg" in 90 degree heat and 90% humidity .His day was over at 5:00 pm and one would think he would have left to rest, but no he came over to the reeactors area and sat around talking to us and signing autographs until 8:00 pm when he had to return to Arizona to shoot the next day. Just thought I'd share. Sam Elliot, POTC, HMMM naw to much cowboy.
  20. Mate; Tis a fine site ye've created. thank ye for the invite, I'll be partakin of yer hospitality and yer rum.
  21. Mate; While living in another time period I used to carry an original cavalry carbine. I soon learned that even without firing it I was wearing off very important markings and submitting it to abuse that would make it lose it's value. i wouldn't advise even carrrying it for show.
  22. Mates; While ponderin on this knot issue and sailin the web I came across a site of interest. http://www.northnet.org/ropeworks/text/arch.html It had a lot of interactive displays of several nautical knots.
  23. Misery; I've found an illustration of both the fid and marlinspike in my copy of " The Young Sea Officers Sheet Anchor. I thank ye kindly for your assistance. Now if I could find a boarding axe, or do most have that custom made?
