I gotta go with Bilge Monkey on his analysis., The Champion is a superior Boot with a superior price., I love my boots., however I too had problems., 1. There a very Hard boot in the sole (Steel Re-inforced) 2. I ordered a low heel (still too tall 1 1/4 Heel) 3. Tight in width and a little longer than expected. 4. A steep and slippery feeling of going downhill with a slippery sole for unsure footing. My foot sliding in the boot (forward and back) and the boot itself sliding in the grass on the hills at the Renn Faire. Put all that together and you have a 350.00 pain in the Arse. 1. The Boots are Genuine.( the real deal non-costume) 2.The leather is VERY thick and VERY soft ! 3. These WILL probably be the best part of your garb. Now then., I have sold my boots at a once worn 175.00 loss. However I just re-ordered !!! Because they ARE an Awesome Boot. This time I too called on the phone and voiced my complaints however I told them I want to buy another pair but I cant keep doing that we have to get what I want. They were happy to help. If you READ the web site They are FULLY customizable. This was my mistake., I did not take into account all boots are a size "D" width unless otherwise specified. I was in too much a hurry and excited over these boots to do things right..., You must be sure of what you are doing..., READ their web site., and get custom., or you will have regrets..., But..., If you do it right...., You get the very best. NOW I specified. Everything according to more research on MY FOOT at local shops. I ordered the Custom Big Bell Swashbuckler as before...,However I ordered a 1/2 size smaller than before. Also I ordered a "E" width., I also made a change to the Bell for a straight cut no slant.,and no inverteted seam at the back ., rather a flat seam and on the inside of the leg. Also no steel re-inforcement of leather slippery sole., a FLAT Arch., "Roper 1" heel., "C" Toe(french) and a noprene sole softer and non slip. A fully resolable boot when the time comes..., Now then with all these changes we are at $350.00 + shipping..., which is a $50.00 increase., however thats cheap ($50.00) If its what I want. time will tell ?.., They should arrive soon..., I will post an update on the comfort of these new boots. I must say comfort is an individual thing.., In any boot you order online..., Do yourself a favor.., Go to a local boot shop and get both feet sized.., length and width then try on lots of boots.., and You will notice a differance in same size boots. Just buy changing toe styles..., pointed boots generally run smaller in fit than a rounded toe therefore a rounded toe sometimes can call for a 1/2 size smaller boot. Is yer pirate garb ever really complete???
HarborMaster replied to Bloody Charity Kidd's topic in Thieves Market
No it is not . No it will not. The online purchases.,the shopping for just the right buttons and sending them to your online seamstress.,the saving for those additional pieces to pick up at the faires Will Continue. The Facination with piracy will grow. the Swashbuckler boots.,hats and weapons frocks., sashes.,rapier bels and baldrics.,will come from more and more vendors..,until the general public gets the idea of what exactly fashion is..., And it will go on.,an on..,an on.........., Lest it be time for a flogging in front of all the townspeople.........,And the Beatings will Continue Until Fashion Changes!!! Amen ta that ! HarborMaster -
Why we do what we do? For me thats an odd question.., because I have to analyze what it is I am doing.., then there is the explaining of why it is I am going to do what it is I will be doing. And then there is the fact that its all a build up so i can do it later...., WOW !!! Well then., I do the pirate thing for me.., The renn faires and fantasy faire are just window dressing to get me by for now and fill my head with ideas.,What I am really after is retiring VERY VERY young., This is where the pirate comes in.I collect to my Piratical wardrobe alot., tho its not worn much., the weapons and chests and cannons as well.., Modern times is a really I hate..., sound familiar?., let me open your mind.., Taxes every quarter then yearlies? Work work work., Keep up with the jones's ., child support.,divorce.,drugs.,bums and lowlifes.,and other social problems on top of my relentlessy no time for life company..., uhhh 24 hour and 7 day a week on call service for 23 years?., no life., no planned day off?.., shall I go on? Makes me want to escape from an enviroment like this and go bury my head in the sand..,so....., I went and got me some sand to start with. I do the pirate because I want to escape., I work so I can escape., I bought a beach so I can escape., I wear plumbers clothing every every day., I am tired of it. In 3 1/2 more years I will wear my pirate garb every day..., for me its not a Faire or a game..., Its a 350 year old spanish fort looking Home hotel and marina., with Parrots anchors cannons a ship and pirates., teaching Dive courses in S.E.Asia., amongst coconut trees and 7107 islands for retirement and fun...., no-more working for the man day in an day out. Dress like a pirate., take Germans., Japanese., Koreans., Americans., British and any others on 4 day Dive Safaris., leaving out of our own port., There..., thats why I do what I do. Its a dream and ALL about Saving Every nickel.., but I am ahead of schedule..., I am committed., and I cant wait. Having been where I am going many times..., I would start over if need be., I cant wait., it eats on me daily. Imagine if you will getting up and walking out of your house., across the garrison by your gun(cannon) placements., waving to the men taking provisions to the ship as you make your way to the bar over hanging the marina., and having breakfast there telling your dive crew and guest the dive plan. Then returning on a still water night on the ship lit by lantern easing into your marina.., and the lights are on in the bar with kareoke flashing lights and dancing going on at 85 degrees and starry....., yea its worth it. Crossing fingers HarborMaster

By the way I Rather be gettin looped in an easy chair watchin it on the Royaliste than sittin here watchin it !!! That would be the life no doubt ! Yea It was good.., I been lookin fora good deal on Mel Gibson in the Bounty as well., but really.., really what I wanna see is a re-enacted story about Ol' Iron Sides., Blastin the Guirrere and then the Hammering of Tripoli and the Barbary Coast !!! thar is a Great movie untold., in that ship!!! Patrick Hand .,evenin' Sir., I myself purchased a few swords I thought were right fom me., later I found one was top heavy to pack all day., another was Rat tanged and couldnt take a slamming., so....., I eventually took to making my own sword., Its differant? Its straight., short (21" Blade) strong somewhat light and fast to wield. Perhaps you should possibly build one its easy if you cheat(buy a blade( then do with it what you will., read this forum. Main Guage / Short Sword build take Care HarborMaster

Here is what the DuckFoot looks like finished.,its quite a bit smaller than a Sea-Service type pistol which makes it good for carrying around. Lastly but not to be counted out a boarding Cutlass a homemade short sword.,a spanish rapier and a spanish fencing foil. Sea-Service Pistols are always good to guard your treasure chest and tricorn .,from thievin' sea-rovers HarborMaster

Champion Attitude Boots has just released there "Sparrow" version tricorn. the beauty of this is that., just like their boots you can call joey on the phone and choose color .,leather type .,size.,brim width., anything.,(My boots arent even listed.,everything was customed) . there leather is very thick and very very soft. I am looking forward to a hat from them to add to my collection Champions Sparrow Tricorn Here's Rhum in yer eye HarborMaster

The Dixie Kit was simple I highly recommend it., especially if you have a dremel you can shape your handle in minutes and the sanding is quick with 180 grit wet-n-dry. I finally got around to doing a light stain today and a polyeurathane job tonight. I know its not a flintlock.,however it is a welcome addition to my pirate garb.., its to my liking and I value it as a slick piece when non firing replica's are only 20 bucks cheaper!!! The dixie is great.., for my next trick I will be doing the Classic Arms Cutlass Pistol Kit .44 caliber. The Cutlass on the Baldric to the left., the Cutlass Pistol in a little holster mounted to the Baldric. The .62 caliber Sea Service Pistol with belt hangar on the right hip and the Duckfoot in the sashe leaning left for a quick grab should work out pretty well for a day out. Its a start anyway. myself I havent seen any wesco boots that would do a pirate kit justice.., everything I saw was either a biker boot., or a lace up logger type?., Heavy duty., hard as a rock clod hopp'in mud collectors?., perhaps I saw the wrong models? Have ya got a link to a pirate boot made by Wesco for us? HarborMaster

Under the Black flag was good., but Terror on The High Seas has been even better.., I have 2 more chapters to go. If you read terror on the High Seas ., You wont need to read Under the Black Flag. Because TOTHS is basically a more complete and revamped UTBF ..,the same author and same stories of certain pirates. The latter (terror) goes into the middle eastern corsairs..,and shipping all across the barbary coast., southern Africa and Madagascar...,as well as the whole slave trade., Whites as well as blacks .,christians and muslims., A vicious and terrorizing read to be sure !!! and also a much better book..,It brings Piracy from the middle ages thru to modern times., lots of pictures of paintings.,and litho's also. Probably the best book I have ever read concerning Piracy. HarborMaster

I have to agree with all of you on what a rotten pirate he is selling this junk.., however.., the buyers are even dumber. Think about it any bozo out there bidding on it probably isnt worth is salt anyway., sure he is wrong fer doin it.., but I am sure the buyers would blow there money in other ways just as dumb. After all they are bidding..., I know how it werks..,seen it a few times., this jerk wont give a good feedback for the prompt payment until the unlucky winner rewards him with a bravo feedback first. The whole thing sux...,Capitalism?., Its a Democracy? Sigh...,I'll just sit here and enjoy the view as I clean me duckfoot. Cheers to all HarborMaster

HarborMaster replied to TalesOfTheSevenSeas's topic in September
Aye ta that!., in the great northwest events are limited for piratical fun., the fantasy faire is about as close as it gets here., but I am grateful for it. The photos and the party (event) I am sure would have been fun for myself and crew here., Thanks for the photos and sharing.,Awesome!., Wish I was there we are sort of a lone crowd and looking for others at the renn faire when we go. However this Pirate event would sure be a welcome change in Washington. HarborMaster -

a good comeback for a common insult
HarborMaster replied to blackbeard the 2nd's topic in Scuttlebutt
I still say take out the big brother first., the 8 footer..., then offer him an eye patch., then tell him to give his mother a kiss from you when he see's her *Wicked Grin*.., perhaps he will kick yer butt.., but he will be doin it with one eye., and dont stand there till he hits you and dont run.., take your shot first., and make it hurt REAL BAD ., so if you do get your but kicked.., at least it wont happen again from him. HarborMaster -
Stynky's got a good point here., We'd all be enjoyin' some fotos' if'n ya gottem' . Everyone has probably chosen there own colors .,fabrics.,buttons ect.., to ave a look would be the fine way to finish me evenin' Rhum and all. Please do.,please do HarborMaster

For a boarding gig ., and an unlimited choice of weaponry? say from imaginary prizes takin in the past., and you were well on your way to prepping for your biggest prize yet? I would have to say A blunderbuss for the immeadiate crossing of ship-to-ship., dropping the buss and pulling one of four differant Duckfoot volley pistols for each hand *Baldric mounted* ..., then again., then the short boarding cutlass in the right and the front mount sashe held duckfoot in the left., after the volley., dropping it and reaching for the last firearm a sea service pistol / war hammer..., You cant spend the prize you wish to take..., unless you can live thru the taking of it Carry as much firepower as you really can. a good comeback for a common insult
HarborMaster replied to blackbeard the 2nd's topic in Scuttlebutt
Thats a tough one.., I suppose it depends on how old you are ? My self .,I would probably tellem' to ave' a lottle more respect for me..., for all he knows I could very well be his father. Perhaps wink at him and tell him to give yer Mom a little kiss for me when you see her!! Perhaps maybe you should be prepared..., One of my all time favorites., Start with the 8 footer * You'll command a bit more respect this way* Poke him in the eye., then hand him an eye patch an tell'm he has the look of a pirate about him aye?..., I hope one of these multiple guaranteed "Getting of his attention" answers will work for you savvy? Good luck with the problem HarborMaster -

HarborMaster replied to Capt. Z's topic in Thieves Market
I gotta go with the Kings Pirate., I couldnt have posted it better meself., and many around my area know it ta be true., Wenchin' in days of old., and fer me., no interest in it today.., just alotta thinkin about it.., I may be old., tired.,winded an worn., married too...,But I aint blind! Even just give to me I'd say no..., Its too much damn work to roll someones eyes over like a great white sinkin' is teeth inta fresh meat.., Hell I am tired just postin' it... Pass the Rhum ya bloody Buccaneers. I rather be screamin orders., grovellen around the deck an doin me some bitchin' HarborMaster -
I didnt see a criteria that fit me in your analagy..,? Does travelling around the world ..,owning a tropicoal beach.,a boat (no ship yet) having a pretty fair bit of treasure.,spending every minute I can at and in the ocean.., and most importantly shipping weapons over-seas (2 Black powder 45's * 1 .62 Caliber Flintlock * 1 30" old english swivel gun * and 2- 55" 2.25 caliber ordinance rifles {Cannons} make me a pirate? If not I am definitely doing something wrong..., Please Advise HarborMaster
