  1. Capt. Bo of the WTF co. Your one in an outstanding crowd at the Pyracy Pub., another great kit for sure ., Awesome sir. Awesome indeed. He do look the part dont he Liam .

  2. Wow!!! some old faces I hope all is going well for you men. Myself I am finally moving to the P.I. in May. 4 more months ;) . Been a long time coming. This may we will get the bar and restaurant build going. Then in probably August the rooms and the scuba shop. If anyone is interested in how to put a beach together after the tides removed alot of it ., you can see the Sea-Wall construction and the Manor build ups at the website in the gallery at www.tropico.ph .

I dont post much any more , however I do come in regularly to look at new posted photos ;) . I posted this time cause you guys are special (senior citizens of the pub ., like me.)

  3. Whoaaa callenish gunner ., awesome examples ., thats one thing I am lacking in terribly . I few nice linstock end pieces would really do me well to ship off to my armory. Its about the last thing I am really lacking in my collection. Awesome awesome ., good stuff Sir.~ Rich (HarborMaster)

  4. I'd try wes1761's link. Cannon~Mania is not a machinist ., he is a vendor . He will take your money ., the see if one of the machinists on lis list can make it ., and you could be waiting a VERY VERY long time. Better to check on some forums about cannon~mania's repore. Its not good. Been there ., done that.

  5. I fell in love with the doglock they offered, and as soon as I could afford one, I bought it. Best money I ever spent. Nothing quite like touching off a 'buss.

Yes ........., and no. I love my 15" Brass Blunderbuss I got from middlesex in 2005 ..........., But there is touching off one of my six-pack 1.50" bore swivel~guns ...., You know alot of people think the difference between 1" and 1 1/2" is only a 1/2" ....., well I am here to tell ya an extra 1/2" makes all the difference in the world. The 1 1/2" ball has 6 times the weight in ball mass!!! That my friend is when you get Re~Coil !!! *Wicked~Wicked~Nasty~Gold~Toothed~Grin*

  6. Thanks Mission , and Diosa. I will keep the Pub updated pretty soon. Lots of concrete and mortar work starting again in October. If I were to start a post on building a beach where would I put it ? I very much enjoyed Oderlesseye's work ., I cant remember which forum topic it was under tho at the moment? Keeping on topic here ., my current job is seeking materials ^_^).

  7. Aye, too big 'n' too small! I prefer my own (1/3 scale) 6 Pounder. She'll put a 1" ball through 7" of solid oak ..... just need to make a naval carriage so I can make 'er a bow gun :P

    cannon10t.jpg

(For scale, the wheels are 20" diameter)

Yer Bronzee is Bad Arse DeviousDi .

I must agree with Capt Thighbiter . As an active GBO cannon member is familiar with the Nano~Cannons the machinists build there.

hat's an accurate lil bugger, but I believe someone on the GBO cannon forum makes one smaller that uses BBs for ammo.

A caution to all: All cannon, regardless of size, can quickly become a pipe bomb instead of a cannon , unless designed and made properly.

Tartan Jack I do believe you you are right .

I thought the biggest one was the one in the Kremlin in Moscow.

Though, it has never been fired and the balls made for it are wider than the barrel . . .

And finally as we ALL know thats not the worlds smallest Cannon.

Its the worlds smallest Mortar LOL. Its not shaped like a cannon ., its more of an interpretation of a Civil~War Dictator~Mortar and carriage. THE SCHWERER GUSTAV is definitely no slouch ! The Gun in India is pretty cool Black~Hearted~Pearl !

My personal favorite for the worlds largest gun sits at the Yuma Proving Grounds in Yuma AZ ..., They call it Nuclear Annie ..., I think you can all figure that one out :P

  8. Kinda makes me want more info.....

Cannons don't "just blow up" for no reason. In the pic, there is nothing left but the wheels. Makes me wonder about the load, construction of the piece, etc........

    >>>>> Cascabel

I have to agree. Most of these annual "Cannon Failures" are not really cannons at all. They are pipes and or the like labled as cannons . When one of these accidents occurs lawmakers do seem to jump more and more to outlaw CANNONS. There are rules to cannon construction. Too bad the backyard mechanic doesnt do his homework , and too bad some people make ornamental cast iron yard trinkets . A true cannon has a wall thickness of one caliber minimum in all directions at the breach and must be made out of approved metals.., with a correctly constructed breech . The research is actually quite easy. Its the cost of doing them right that gets expensive. However a cannon built right ., attended by people who know proper loading and CLEANING procedures isn't very likely to come apart ever. Proper cleaning procedures also include bore and breach inspection and a whole lots less metal corrosion. BP is very corrosive and will ruin anew cannon quickly if not properly maintained. CLEANED and OILED . If you cant afford to do it right ., downscale and be safe. but don't ruin it for others.

  9. vintagesailor Have ye still got said mortar ? I know I am late. Anyone interested in a.60 Ketland trade pistol ., a good shooter in fyne condition ., for the right price and good negotiations . I would be willing to throw in a powder measure and a few flints ect ., ect. Oh it has the slight flared swamped brass barrel and other brass fittings and hardware. Send me a PM if interested.

  10. I will look for some Spanish links. The crown made me think English , but that is based on nothing as swords are unfamiliar to me in the sence of historical knowledge. Perhaps French then too ? Artillery short sword ? Wherever its from artillery short sword is the look of it. Thanks folks.,any other ideas please jump in . Oh ., one more question..., could it be Napoleonic wars ., or too new for that?

  11. I am hoping someone here can help me to identify a sword I recently came into possession of. There are alot of damage marks to the sides , edge, and back however there are also some possible ID markings. I dont know much about swords and am hoping to find out what it is? I will post pics as soon as I can take them.

  12. Who we are is kind of a broad based question. Some here are in a group and seek rules and authenticity . Some judge themselves and others by their own rules. Others are into it just for fun and not authentic at all. Others think its a party. And others believe its about sailing ., (tho most dont sail ) . Others think its an extension of freedom or an escape from reality.

Without a group club or charter to follow ., I am enjoying being me <_<) . Who are we ? I think its apparent in our actions and way of life in our daily routine. How you rise to the occasion of life itself and how we live it defines your character really. What do you live and work for ? ., what are your dreams ? ., your passions ? and are you aftering them ? And whats more important are you living it?

This has been a pretty good read for me ., Since we are all different I enjoy the different points of view.

    Just some thoughts. <_<

Hurricane I admire your last post ., I am so there brother.

  13. A very interesting and worthy topic indeed ., Its about time. Thank you Hawkyns for bringing this to the inquisition. I am enjoying this one from afar. I cannot comment on this as I am not a living historian ., its simply a fun thing I do for myself in a little world I have created for myself. I know why I do what I do., but it is interesting to understand what drives others.

  14. If I remember right ? Johnny Depp, and Penelope Cruz did pretty well together in " Blow " . Myself I find her sort of un-attractive , a sort of trashy looking Julia Roberts . Penelope was a rough customer in that film. Perhaps her character in the film will surprise us all ! I'll bet it turns out better than it sounds?

  15. Is it possible for good rum to go bad? /quote]
The alcohol content of "good rum" is too high for it to spoil and there shouldn't be a great deal of sugar content left for a culture to grow ...so I think you're safe with it. /quote]

This is why it is "Good Rhum"

Rhum is good LadyBarbossa ...., (Yes) Cork down for long periods ., I've had rhum and tequila evaporate thru a dry cork ., about an inch to two in a few years.
