The first few years I hardly had any accent at all, and no one seemed to mind - I did try to throw in some nautical terminology into my speech as would be natural of a sailor (that was fairly easy for me having been in the Navy) here are a few glossaries if you really want to do some home work - still I promise you by the end of the weekend you'll find the lingo creeping into your everyday speech... before long your co-workers and neighbors are going to wonder what your up to LOL read this a few times and you'll find ways to work these terms into everyday conversation: http://users.aol.com/sailgower/lexicon.html this is a good one has more of the "pirate" specific slang: http://www.thepiratesrealm.com/pirate%20talk.html Oh and should you really want to work on an accent I found reading this helpful: though eventually I chose to go more Cornish with my character -- t a lot of sailor were from Bristol it was a really large port.. reading this dictionsry a tongue twister at first.. http://www.thatbebristle.co.uk/dictionary/ and if you want to listen to different accents I googled - British Regional Accents Audio Sample, here's one of the many: http://web.ku.edu/idea/europe/england/england.htm And don't kill yourself getting ready - getting there is half the fun.. come play with us and you'll find the hang of it in no time. Pyracy Pubers who want to take the express get in touch with me personally and i might be able to work out a group rate. The Key West Express and Bone Island Buccaneers, along with the help of the Callahan's just did a marketing push to get more people from SWFL to go down for PIP to enjoy the festivities. round-trip booked 8 days in advance is 124.00, full price is 154.00 If the campaign goes as well as we hope... I MAY be able to get some kind of group rate for re-enactors. No promises- but I'll see what i can do it all depends on the numbers, so please if your interested let me know ASAP. Rusty

HUZZAH - so glad we lead you here..... as well as PIP. Nice to have you on the Pub! - Please go to the PIP sight and get in touch with Harry at Fort Zach there are re-enactor registration forms you can fill out on the sight and let him know who you are..what you have and how much room you'll need and he'll find some space for ye. And regarding period correct... Hurricane is right we camouflaged our non period items during the day and it was fine, we all do our best but sometimes when your camping that long comfort is important - no one needs to know there's an inflatable mattress under that burlap bag. If you decide to travel light and take the Ferry down for the Fest? Or are you bring the whole kit and kaboodle? so glad you got our invite... look forward to seeing you there! Ahoy there Red, nice ta meet ya lass!. I have to agree with everyone in encouragin ya ta stay at the Fort, it truly is half the experience, that fancy hotel room will go wasted, you'll not want to be going back there once you get to the Fort, prying me away at the end of the thing dirty and ragged is near impossible, asking me to leave for a bloody shower WHY thats rediculous, thats what the ocean be for. We look forward to meetin ye, and regarding garb, we run from OH MY GOD IT BLACKBEARD in the FLESH to, is that Errol Flynn? of course there are always a few of those "ooooo girl look at those pink thigh highs!" This festival is all about us, having fun and really living it for a weekend. Can't wait to meet ya! Rusty Nell Riley Bone Island Buccaneers

Rusty Nell Riley's me name, rum's me game. I hail from Cornwall, England, a little town called St Agnes, in the Carrick parish. It's a port town ya see, of fisherman, farmers, and tin miners. Me mate, Dead-eye say's that makes me a bloody cornish hen. bahhh.... HEN!!....I've bloodied him for that I ain't no chicken!. I can hold me own! Saved me pub enough times from skallywags startin a rowe. So don't you be startin any trouble wid me ye see. Singin's another one o me talents, keeps em in me pub fer another grog. And I can soothes em when they be getting to rowdy fer their own good. Like me moder I learned to wield me whiles like they was a sword - woo' em wid a lullaby an they won't see ya coming she say's. So I use me songs when I needs to, especially them sailors, they loves a good sad song to take their mind off the sea. Mum swears its how she ended up wid me bastard of a dad. He woo'd her with them devil sea songs she says. Convinced her to marry him, a man who would always leave her. You sees, me own dad was a merchant sailor, a shanty man. Those sea songs he left me mum wid was me lullaby's so I knows em all. Me ol mum was a farm girl, for she met me dad. From a fairly well off family, but dad drank through her dowry for I was even born. She turned to making spirits to keep him in drink and keep us fed. She always seemed happier when dad was at sea. May ave been the only time money was well enough to feed me and me 6 sisters. So how'd I end up in Port Royal, ye ask? I came ere as a young girl. Mum was gettin up in age, and well me sisters and I wid few men left to marry were becomin a burden she couldn't bare. So I stowed away on a merchant ship at 14 disguised as a boy. I was a fool wantin' the free life of a sailor, ain't no free life at sea! not on a merchant vessel, just hell and back breakin work, and need I mention near 2 years behind the mast... I was starting to show signs of being a girl, if yas know what I mean. So I skipped ship and decided to take my chance in Port Royal alone. Was sure wid me mums recipe's for spirits I'd make me fortune in no time. Sure enough turns out its rum thats in me blood. So ere I am... setting up shop in Port Royal on High Street wid an ear to the skuttlebutt in me pub, looking for my next adventure.

I wrote this song using our crews back story The Ballad of the Bone Island Buccaneers Across endless deserts of sea Sun scorched and cursed men, we be Forever our sails made We're bound to this rough trade We search to unravel the key Reese charted a map long ago To fortune and riches untold The church bound to hide it We swore we would find it and make Reese's treasure our own So dressed as a priest Jai did go Stole the map so we sailed for the pole But the Arch Angel followed and Sterling, he bellowed "Make way, or the locker you'll know" Bloody Spike Pierce ruled the day Through maelstroms, storm squall and spray to the earths frozen center we never surrendered We fought them like hell all the way X marked the spot was Atlantis A temple of gold quite fantastic A tree life eternal both crews now immortal locked in great battles were tested Atlantis destroyed in our haste The mystery now is laid waste We're marked to remember the symbols surrendered in the rubble of that sacred place Our captains left arm be our guide to unravel this secret through time the first to the key is the crew to be free No longer men cursed by the prize. Across endless deserts of sea Sun scorched and cursed men, we be Forever our sails made We're bound to this rough trade We've sailed here for many long years Forever our sails made We're bound to this rough trade as Bone Island Buccaneers. music and lyrics by Terry Lynn Conrads aka Rusty Nell Riley
