  1. Redd, what say ye t' Sunday bein' particularly leaned towards the piratical? Given the other costume things on me agenda (some of which take more makeup work than others), that would be my best day.

Sadly, I miss Carnivale  But that be life, methinks!

  2. I'm trying to throw some of it together in my LiveJournal, slowly but surely.

The pictures I have are here, I just need to upload those too.

Ironically enough, no pictures of the award-winning costume of mine on this camera. They're all on everyone ELSE's cameras

    Bugger!

  3. *crawling in from the hole in the wall*

Ohmy. I be a tired lass indeed.

LOOOOONG weekend. But very VERY worth it :)

The final results were three awards for the Lucius costume: Best Documentation, Best Recreation, and Best Tailoring.

    But..here's the REALLY fun part.

One certain "Captain Jack Sparrow" got himself th' Best Novice Award!!!

Heh... Can ye hear it now, mates? Mr. Malfoy..in all o' his irritation..

    "....bloody PIRATE!!"

T'was well-deserved, mates. An' I can say I 'ad a wee touch o' my own help in this, because I talked th' blighter into comin' to the convention!

More on it all as I get to it. So many pictures to collect up and show...

    Arrr!! B)

I might have some stuff for you..just can't really email right now other than work things. I'll try to shoot you a line as soon as I get home.

[[[[[[lucky penny]]]]]] thought you feell overboard! nice to hear from you again lass! we missed ya!

Ah, luv, I've been around, just 'ave been quieter than normal 'cause of being so bloody busy.

Work AND home have me on my toes of late...an' I jus' feel like I'm missin' so much for every one thing I accomplish.

Bloody 'eck, as th' Cap'n Royaliste likes t' say...

  5. ..an' somewhere's in th' midst of all this...there was this lass named Penny, whose talents started in th' textile trade. However, one too many brushes with the "unruly sort" ("....pirates!") gave the girl a right proper corruptin', an' she found herself with a curiousity that would not let her be until she was sated.

So on a call for assistance let out by one "Poison Quill", Penny disguised herself as a pirate (while she could make herself LOOK 'nough like a pirate, she was still green as to th' life), an' found herself brought into a plot t' "commandeer" a proper gentleman's son on his natal day. It would not do t' kidnap'm with a needle an' thread, so she was supplied with a cutlass an' a pistol an' told t' go forward.

Now...this is where th' story gets interestin'. Lucky Penny, as we now know her, 'ad never truly been on a sea vessel. But somehow, she took to it like a duck t' water, in a matter o' speakin'. No one knows how it came about, but th' stories hint that maybe, jus' maybe, there be at least some true pirate in 'er, an' it was just bidin' its time for a chance t' get out!

Since then, the Lucky Penny's been followin' her destiny as a pirate, particularly fond of "sharp pointies" an' "things that go BOOOOM!" At times, however, she's maintainin' a seemingly proper appearance to those outside of her piratical circle. Many suspect that she be a pirate, but few if any 'ave had th' nerve t' ask her outright.

    ...their loss!

  6. An' yet again, Penny's caught bein' a ham!

I have to say I love the braided pirate 'do...complete with the rags tyin' it all together.

I want to make the braids smaller, but I would have to do them up the night before, and likely with a bit of help.

Thinkin' of visitin' a shop before Ojai to get it done right...which would be bloody amazin'...

  7. Again, Lady Washington and Hawaiian Chieftain, please contact us, our emails for the most part go unanswered.

Quill, I'm not sure about this, but it may well be possible that the crews of either ship may not be seeing anything online at the moment, what with being on tour and all. I could be wrong and they have regular net access, but I know our Cap'n is a hard person to contact when the ship's on the water, and I'm guessing there isn't all THAT much time to deal with online things when they're docked.

Perhaps someone that speaks to either ship's crew face to face in the near future can relay the message their way?

And as a casual aside..to those of you who might be in other forums elsewhere, or other places where all of this might be discussed...if there ARE problems that people are stating publically that seem like stuff that should be directed elsewhere, or any complaint for that matter...I encourage you to have them take these things to the appropriate people. Point them to Quill, as she's kindly offered herself as a liason for such things.

This, I believe, is the big thing right now. People love to either stuff their opinions to themselves, or communicate to all the wrong people..the ones who essentially can do nothing more than be the ear that listens. In some cases, that may be all that's needed, but I think this may be something where those involved NEED to know which way is up.

That, and for people to realize that any "nicknames" given to any ship we've played with have been given in the spirit of playful humor. I see it as when I call my younger sibling "the blister" because when she was little, she was the biggest pain in the rear you could imagine. I still love her to death and would easily put my life on the line for her, but I still consider her the "brat kid".

Likewise, I have a great appreciation for both the Lady and the Chieftan, but I'll still address them as "the Pineapple" and "the Intercepted" from time to time. It's like the old addage: "we wouldn't pick on you if we didn't care.." Mind, if I was told "OK, that's enough, Penny", I will respectfully stop my mischief...but one has to first tell me something is bugging them, correct?

I certainly wouldn't do more than giggle if we got called say, the "Royalpain" if it's a name given to us as a joke... ;)

Urgh. I shall be quiet now and drink rum. Arr. ;)

  8. Sorry t'be takin' this thread off-topic, but anyone interested in Comic-Con (another fine display fer costumes) can PM or e-mail me.

I'm calling this one "tentative". I'd LIKE to go, and if I can afford it and get all the travel situated, I could very well hop in on it. I'll probably hold off on doing the masquerade on that one (will need a break after CostumeCon and BayCon), but I'll definitely be wandering the halls, either as Lucius, or in my in-progress Mina Harker/LXG costume.

I wants t'see lots o'pictures from this Costuming Con ye be talkin' about.

I'm hoping to pull off as many as possible, though I do have that horrible habit of becoming so busy doing things that I don't pull the camera out. I want to get some of the "becoming Lucie" pictures together, however, so people can see the hell I go through to turn myself into a man!

In comparison, Mina will be SOOOO much easier.

  9. Wow. The things I miss when I'm not looking....

My comments on all of this. Take them as you will.

I was speaking with someone last night, and it only now came to my attention that anything was amiss with last weekend. While I was unable to get details because said individual preffered not to elaborate on them (mostly not to offend me, I gather), I got the impression that there are some severely uncomfortable thoughts floating about. What I picked up, however, qualified in the category of "the people saying these things really should be talking directly to the people that they have the problems with, and not spouting them off to the general online public."

    But that's just my opinion.

I sincerely hope any "bad feelings" that people are dealing with are resolved soon, because as much as I want to say "eh, this isn't bothering me", to know that there are those that are upset about some things does nick at me a bit.

It's all about the joy of getting on the water and having fun. I think that's what we all want here...I know it's what I want...

And I missed you guys, even though I wasn't out..but deadlines is deadlines...

  10. Wowie. Very impressive, lady.

I was wonderin' where the extra pins were comin' from..*hee* I thought me and Narcissa Malfoy were the only ones on sewin' terms

Preparations for CostumeCon and all...her and her hubby! Penny will be a busy lass, to say the least..

  11. Very cool of the Malfoy pix. I'm not a Harry Potter fan.. but dear God do I LOVE Jason Isaacs! He's so sweet...

A sweet man who plays some dastardly wonderful villians.

Tavington, Malfoy, Hook...he just doesn't seem to go wrong.

What's funny is that picture of me as Malfoy is one of the best of one bad mess of pictures in my opinion...

I will hopefully resolve that with CostumeCon. I may need to have someone in the audience actually catch my performance on video...

(so I can fully embarass myself for all of you!)
