  1. Yer right, mate. I scrape off these barnacles as soon as I discover 'em! Capt. William
  2. If so, I just killed him off in his early youth! Capt. William
  3. I also saw the strangest thing on Bourbon Street yesterday. A local lady was sprinking some cremation ashes on the street. Seems a friend of hers from Cleveland who'd passed away said that he loved New Orleans so much that he wanted a part of himself to be forever part of Bourbon Street, during Mardi Gras. I was stunned, but also touched. Capt. William
  4. I question that.... I'm not sure how much our Country has lied to us about that... Iraq is all kinda fucked up... Hussein kinda kept that (yah icky( but kinda together).... If we can decide to hang Hussein... can wwe do the same thing if it can be proved that Bush lied to us? Kinda that Blibical bit... bout throwing the first stone.......... Saddam Hussein was a brutal dictator. However, he was of no concern to us until we decided to invade his country. America is like the world's traditional nosy neighbor. We spend our time, blood, and treasure sticking our nose into other people's business, while our own home and family falls apart. Capt. William
  5. I liked SEA OF GRAY, although his point of view conflicted with my pro-Confederate tendencies. Capt. William
  6. See you there, Hurricane! I just read some stuff for my talk there, "Cannon crews and their history." Am now reading Frank Sherry's REBELS AND RAIDERS (piratical), and THE BEST OF H.P. LOVECRAFT (non-piratical). Capt. William
  7. AFTER that day: read a lot. Keep my house clean. Do some gardening. Do a lot of reenacting. And be perfectly content. Capt. William
  8. When and where does all this happen? Capt. William
  9. I've never been to PIP: hope to some day. And as a cannoneer, I'd be glad to be part of the cannon demo. I enjoy educating the public about cannon, even more so than firing them. :) Capt. William
  10. I get the feeling that the other end of Duval Street must be like the other end of Bourbon Street! Capt. William
  11. Whoever he is: that's a pretty pirate lass he has his arm around! :) Capt. William
  12. Good cite, mate. I think that trying to shave with a straight razor on a rocking wooden ship on the high seas would be enough to make me forego shaving for the voyage! One thing that I hate is seeing a bloke with a beard wearing a snowy white wig. The combination just makes the guy look dirty, somehow. Capt. William
  13. The Battle of New Orleans reenactment is over, Mardi Gras is over, and now PirateCon is the thing on my mind for here in my beloved New Orleans! :) Capt. William
  14. I like to look at women of all shapes and sizes. But playing the "built to order" game: she'd be anywhere from 5'2" to 5'6" , slender, but with large breasts and behind. And there is something about the combination of long legs with small feet that drives me wild! :) I also love Rummy3's avatar! :) Capt. William
  15. Coffee, strong and straight, to wake me me up and keep me awake throughout the day. Tea, for when I want something soothing. Herbal or decaffinated is best for the purpose. Capt. William
  16. I have a "smoothrifle" with 42 inch barrels. Personally, I think the shorter barrels would be more practical. Capt. William
  17. I trust technology so much that I live in the old part of New Orleans, where God and nature gave me some dry ground and a little elevation. Most of the city was built on reclaimed swampland. But hey, don't worry, we have the levees and the pumping system to keep the water out... Capt. William
  18. What have the barrels been shortened to, Calenish? Capt. William
  19. Mardi Gras here was surprisingly "PG": good sized crowds, but not as rowdy; more family-oriented than usual. And the revelers seemed to put more effort into their costumes than usual, which was a nice touch! Capt. William "If you live any other place, today was just Tuesday." Capt. William
  20. No listing for the Gulf Coast, sadly. Capt. William
  21. Aye mates, for most lubbers, today was Tuesday, but for those of us fortunate enough and whacko enough to live it New Orleans, it was Mardi Gras! The Pyrate Queen and I made our usual voyage to Bourbon Street. We both commented that PIRATES seemed to be the most popular costuming theme this year. Aaarrgh, may our crew increase! :) Capt. William
  22. Too bad it didn't get there in time to achieve its intended purpose. :) Capt. William
  23. Hear, hear! And another self-serving bit of nonsense that I got sick of hearing in my SCA days, when someone would point out to an offender that something wasn't period: "they'd have used it if they'd had it." Capt. William
  24. That's good. What length are the barrels on yer rifle? Capt. William
