  1. Thought I might get some errands done before the snow hit this morning but -- YIKES! -- it already looks really ugly out there. We're getting "Lake Enhancement" in addition to the Colorado Low. I think "Blizzard" is a fair description of the conditions out there. So I'm staying snug inside today, writing belated Xmas cards and getting the house ready for my annual tree-trimming dinner with C. tomorrow night. Mr. H., the die-hard, insisted on going to work today instead of taking a Snow Day with me. He says it's a macho thing. Bet he wishes he'd worn ski goggles to walk to the subway!
  2. Oh, he was the MAN! (And a favourite of the new-wave-cover-band-that-shall-remain-nameless.)
  3. Ya, never trusty that slimey sea-life! Take the advice of Jollyship the Whiz-bang: "Kill it if it don't got feet!" http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=mLTl0bsg960
  4. Ron Matusalem Gran Reserva Gosling's Black Seal Lamb's Navy (for lunch, with a packet of crisps!) Appleton Estates Jamaica Rum (for daiquiris) Havana Club Anejo Blanco (for mojitos)
  5. Think I might have to strap on the X-country skis to finish my Xmas shopping!
  6. Merry Effing Xmas to the dog owner who let their pet poop on my front walk this morning and did not stoop & scoop. If I catch you doing that again, I'll force feed it to ya! Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la!
  7. Lean Cuisine Wild Salmon & Basil [i'm trying to be good!] Parcel full of pirate loot from N & C! Aw... how sweet of them! Jen (via e-mail), who doesn't sound too bothered, really. 7738 7718 [it's his own secret code! So, I think he'd make an excellent counter-intelligence agent for the Beach Party thread. Wonder if he has any tattoos?]
  8. The meteorologists at the CBC are predicting "Snow-mageddon" tomorrow, with another snowstorm to follow on Sunday: http://www.cbc.ca/canada/toronto/story/200...ow-toronto.html Looks like I'd better get that Xmas shopping done today, before it starts to fly. Tryin' to talk Mr. H. into taking a "snow day" tomorrow, but he's pretty stubborn.

Hey, Jill -- your tree topper sounds fabulous! Post a pic if possible, please. ^We usually wait until the last weekend before Xmas to put up the tree (real one). Then, being a traditionalist, I insist on leaving the tree and other decorations up until after Twelfth Night (January 6th). But, even if I get lazy, all Xmas decoration MUST be taken down and put away by Candlemass (Feb. 2nd, Groundhog Day) at the very latest. [According to folk tradition, it's quite bad luck to leave them up any longer than that.] But, I think my boxes of decorations need a really drastic culling. I'm not sure where some of this ugly dreck came from! < Facebook just announced that 2 of my mutual friends have "ended their relationship". Ouch! That's gonna be awkward! Meanwhile, I've been using Facebook & MySpace to discreetly 'stalk' a musician acquaintance that I had a crush on 25 years ago. Too shy to send him an actual 'friend request' (doubt he'd remember me anyway), but it's nice to see that he's still in the music biz and doing well. V What bizarre situations have you found yourself in as a result of Facebook or other social networking sites?
  10. Not cooking tonight. Going out for a pub supper with friends instead. Hoping the butternut squash soup and rabbit tortiere are still on the menu!
  11. Hangover, Jenny? ~~~~ Chocolate, almonds & tea A mountain of laundry Mr. H. Multiple musicians from "my youth" [and The 'Drew who blithely and drunkenly implied that that phase of my life is now past, blast him!]

^Just one week until Xmas, and I'm sorely unprepared. I'm a total Solstice Slacker this year. I did write Xmas cards last night, but they probably won't arrive in time. < Daydreaming of a grass shack in a surfer's paradise. [but IRL, I'll be off slogging through the snow to a cozy pub supper with friends.] V What last-minute holiday tasks are you trying to get done this week? Attending any great Xmas parties?
  13. I just hit 2,500. I guess that means I'm 'semi-immoral'. Or only half as chatty as Patrick. But hey, why doesn't the 2,500 post mark warrant a rise in rank? Seriously, I'm getting kinda tired of being a "Scourge of the 7 Seas". I'd rather be a "Punk-Rock Pirate": Oh, hey look: 2,500 DOES have its own rank -- now I'm a Pyrate LEGEND! Brilliant!
  14. This should really be in the "I Had Too Much to Dream Last Night" thread, but I couldn't locate it. [Note to Stynky: the "Search" function on this new forum kinda stynks! LOL] Anyhow, the other night, I dreamt that I was a music journalist and I travelled to Sweden to interview this really cool reclusive married couple (who I guess were musicians). I arrived with an entourage, and we had to take our snowboots off in the hallway before we went inside their house. It turned into a great party. The male reclusive musician was tall & thin and wearing a lime-green sweater and he kept flirting (very subtly) with me. For some reason, I awoke from this dream feeling quite relaxed & happy. Sweden seems like a nice place.
  15. Chocolate, almonds & dried berry mix Flaws The Grotties, via e-mail Billy Bell -- that angel-faced guitarist from my youth who's apparently aged rather gracefully! Yum!
  16. Saw The Waterboys live last year. Mike Scott's still hot!
