  1. Wow! That's priceless. If I had one of those, I wouldn't always be procrastinating about cleaning the bathroom! Cheers, Hester
  2. And a Scottish one: Lang may your lum reek! [... which is better than having your rum leak!] Cheers, Hester
  3. Um... Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy? No... I don't think Arthur ever got out of his housecoat. Cheers, Hester ... who somedays doesn't get out of hers
  4. Well, since I'm leaving for a month later this afternoon, I guess I'd better tie up this loose end. The quote is from Don Juan DeMarco, starring Johnny Depp. The young DeMarco is a captive of a beautiful Sultana. He is explaining to her, in extraordinarily flowery language [sorry, I can't find or remember the exact lines] why he cannot make love to her. He tells her it would dishonour the memory of his first (and only so far) lover, the woman who "made his manhood sing". The Sultana takes this expression quite literally, stares at his crotch in wonder, and exclaims: "It sings?!" and then sighs with longing. Indeed, for most women, it's not really that much of a stretch of the imagination to think that Johnny Depp's magic member is actually so talented that it can in fact sing. Cheers, Hester

    Pirate Food?

Hi, Red Dog: Thanks for that info! Hmmm ... "pudden" -- I wonder if that was the savoury Yorkshire type, or the sweet Figgy Duff type. [Either would be a Sunday treat.] Cheers, Hester
  8. Hi, Mission: Sorry, I thought the rules be more like "guidelines". And my quote is easy. I've even scattered clues to it in several other threads. If our young Jim Hawkins shows up, he'll guess it in a flash. Our new arrival, Inigo Montoya, might even have a chance. Cheers, Hester ... who was really just posting randomly to make it to First Mate status before she had to leave on vacation. ["You cheated!", "Pirate!"]
  9. black pudding [Gotta get those iron levels up! Blood sausage for brekky - perfect pirate fare - yum!]
  10. Corona [Ole! -- got a cold one waiting in the fridge as reward when I finally do finish cleaning the bathroom. This will be my first ever tast of the Mexican brew. I even have a lime on hand for the decorative wedge.] Cheers, Hester

  12. Aye, Rue: J.'s bringing his to use as a portable DVD player. But, there's no internet connection up there, so I won't be able to access the Pub with it. Cheers, Hester
  13. Hi, Siren & Bess: Well ... my bikini days are quite a few pounds ago. However, I do have a sleek black Speedo in my bag. Earlier this summer, I sewed this fabulous pirate patch onto the bodice: Alas, the ink was not colourfast, and the first time I swam in it, the patch ran. I had to meticulously pick out the stitches to remove the patch and salvage the suit. I'm now on the lookout for a replacement patch with a piratey theme (but I'll test its colourfastness first before I sew it on this time). Cheers, Hester
  14. Shhh, not so loud -- Coastie might hear you! We don't want to spook the new bridegroom-to-be. Nice dress, though! Cheers, Hester
  15. Congrats & pleased to meet you, Coastie. Cheers, Hester ... married 17 years and very happy she said yes
  16. "Boots or Hearts" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ [Tragically Hip song] Lyrics: Fingers and toes, fingers and toes Forty things we share Forty-one if you include The fact that we don't care Chorus: See when it starts to fall apart It really falls apart Like boots or hearts, Oh when they start They really fall apart Cheers, Hester
  17. This is not actually part of my wardrobe: ... I just wish it were. Granted, it might be a bit difficult to find an appropriate place or occasion to wear it. Cheers, Hester
  18. Um, isn't he rather, well ... chubby, for a Ninja? [Not to mention awfully pale and yappy?] Perhaps Phil can offer him some Tao training. Though, I did think the plotlines bit was amusing. H.
  19. Well, ever since punk designer Vivienne Westwood outfitted Adam & the Ants, pirate imagery has been part of high-end and mainstream fashion: So, what's the best piece (or pieces) of pirate fashion in your everyday wardrobe (Ren. Faire garb excluded)? For me, it would be my new bermuda-length white denim shorts trimmed with 2" wide metallic gold ribbon on the cuffs and pockets. ... paired with my cream & black striped Ralph Lauren cami. Cheers, Hester
