Was wonderin' what had happened to ya? Thought I caught you out of the corner of me eye at last year's Folklife but thought I was hallucinating again -- Seattle does that to me. Welcome back. -- Hurricane

Good point there Jim. I will have to look for sopranos and altos instead... I don't think this kitty would have been too cooperative anyway. Seemed fixed on eating a squirrel when we happened upon her. -- Hurricane

Can someone here help with tech support? I'm trying to put coins in to donate but they keep falling out of the photo. -- Hurricane

Geez, the cat is out of the bag on this one. I was just at the Humane Society looking for some willing kitties to be part of my replica of this divine creation... I'm nearly catatonic at the thought of performing at PiP on it --- I was thinking about playing I Hate Cats on it, or maybe Cats in the Cradle. I do have my first cat -- found it in my yard yesterday... Having a little trouble getting it to cooperate... (for those that don't know, that's a Florida Bobcat) Hurricane

Diosa and I will be down at the fort next weekend to see Harry and Spike. Will report back. I do know the Bone Islands are preparing the fort for the Halloween festivities there so it can't be too bad there. -- Hurricane

Ahh, special order. I had to go to Florida to get one and sign some paperwork. Oh, and it cost me a certain appendage I am very fond of if I decide I don't want it any longer. It's not for everyone... and I mean that!!!!! -- Hurricane

Wow! That is absolutely gorgeous. Great work. It would be an honor for a bloke to be run through with something this well crafted. -- Hurricane

"but....i have a mayan style hammock...pc cause they were sleepin in em 1000 years before columbus....anyhow....ya tend to sleep more diagnal in it instead of end to end like some of the canvas ones...." I gots ya beat there dogge, I have an actual Mayan I get to sleep with - screw the hammock part... Diosa's mighty cumfy!! :) -- Hurricane

We'll be setting up on the 3rd as well. We will actually be there for the whole festival but will be living a lavish lifestyle at a hotel until we're allowed to move in to the fort. -- Hurricane

We opt for the air bed route -- KW is famed for early morning rain showers (you being from Florida would know how that works around here too) and drying stuff out every day just isn't out balleywick. Have to do that enough during the rest of the year with the hammocks and encampment in our yard. We don't even bother with a piece of canvas over it since we just deflate them in the morning and pack them away. We don't pull them out until it's after dark so no one ever sees them. The baseline here is there's lots of options. In the fort, at the beach or in contemporary camping. I can say I never left the grounds last year (except for the Walk the Plank championship) -- spent three days just pirating my guts out. So the experience no matter how you decide to sleep is as immersive as you want it to be. I believe much of the night singing this year will be out at Silkie's ordinary than in the pub. Less hot and more room are the benefits of the beach ordinary. I think it's cool everything is spreading out to make full use of the fort and its grounds. Does anyone know if the beach restoration project is complete? -- Hurricane

Welcome aboard lass! I am Hurricane, captain of the Pyrates of the Coast. We're a bit north of ya, being based out of Melbourne, FL. We man the Catt & Fiddle Tavern inside the fort, and sleep there too. We also are running a period tea shop there, with herbal teas for what ails the flotsam and jetsam that pass by. The Catt & Fiddle is our little corner of the world. Stop in, play some period games, sing some songs. We aren't playing super period as we did last year in terms of clothing. Everything else we try to get as close to correct as possible, right down to the vittles our crewe eats. Stop by and say hi... you can find out more about us and out motley crewe at http://www.piratesofthecoast.com. A few of us will be down at the Key Largo Pirate Festival on Saturday, Oct. 18th if you happen that way. Diosa and I will be swinging through on our way back from Key West... -- Hurricane

It's 82 and sunny here in Port Royal. Going to Up All Night tonight in town and eat Jerk Chicken with the locals. -- Hurricane

Wow! That's no fun... :) We don't seem to get our panties in such a bunch here in Florida. I racked of five rounds powder outside of a park hall for a school reunion a month ago -- no one even blinked. Our best effort was in Savannah along the water front. Three of us fired (two doglocks, one percussion), thinking they would fire individually. They all fired at the same time, creating a deafening roar, akin to one from our cannon. It bounced off the buildings down the entire river. The convention crowd at the convention we were attending went nuts over it. In North Carolina at Bald Head's event, the Devil Men of Cape Fear were drunk, firing at will in a thick crowd, and no one seemed to care (Note: We would never do that. They were downright dangerous.) In our yard, we fire the cannon and guns regularly. No one cares. In Florida (at least in Brevard) it's a noise ordnance issue, nothing else. No permits. No permission. We just do. Guess we're lucky. At PiP, all weapons are covered by the park's system. Inspections are the first morning. Then you follow the rules of Harry. Very simple process there... and a great place to play with the guns. -- Hurricane

Diosa read this plan to me last night on the way home from pirooting. Can you imagine how that would stimulate the economy vs. giving it to a single company that still might not make it out of its problems? -- Hurricane

Thanks for the link. Very interesting read... not only on the movie but on the process of making one. -- Hurricane

They should have made this instead of "World's End." I give it five belaying pins. -- Hurricane

We've had 21" in the last 24 hours and another 10" is expected over the next 24. Fun! Fun! I was just outside the front of the house watching a catfish walk by my driveway and I'm no where near a river. Now I've seen everything! -- Hurricane

I loves Port. I'll be sure to bring plenty of rum punch along as well. Already stockpiling the muscovado sugar for it. -- Hurricane

I have never had bad customer service from Loyalist. They have been patient in answering even the stupidest questions promptly and fixed anything I ever needed. That includes five doglocks from them and now the shoes. I think the bigger problem is taking prototypes to production. That is always a problem, even for a large business (ask Apple about its MobileMe service). Loyalist isn't a big company and they are trying to expand their wares beyond their core business which has been weapons. And the shoes are damned nice... I think you would be surprised. I expect they will last me a good 20 years of hard use. I will caution any others ordering. Let someone else measure you while you have full weight on your feet and measure each day over two or three days. Feet can swell, depending on the amount of hydration. Then average the measure before submitting. And make sure you do both feet the same. They can be very different. If you do this and follow the directions exactly from Loyalist, they will be fine. Matusalem -- purchase some leather stretch from Walmart in the shoe section. Spray the innards well, then wear them for an hour. The leather stretch will let the show conform to your feet. I use it on my boots in the tropics when the tops get tight - it works wonders in making shoes or boots comfy. I carry a bottle to every event. -- Hurricane

I will unselfishly volunteer Animal to be our drunken bastard for ya! -- Hurricane

I could send some your way. I have 5" of rain in the back yard. It's a balmy 80 degrees here, 65 mph winds (thanks Fay) and 5 to 15" of ran expected. Typical tropical storm fun. Here's the back 40 near the Pirate HQ the barrel mark the spot... Me after a rousing Singin' in the Rain number for video (sorry, didn't upload that one). A shot of the rivers that drain my yard so nicely into the back acre that dad-in-law owns. -- Hurricane

Loyalist gave me the additional direction I needed on the buckle issue. Once you decide on placement and get the things set right, you can trim the last that has the buckle on it or overlap it and tuck it in the shoe. They made them identical so people had options as far as using other buckles than the ones provided. Since other pairs I want will run me $45 and more, I think I'll make the included ones work fine. They will be side buckles, as designed, according to Loyalist. -- Hurricane

Can't our respective surgeons help out with the "fundraiser" for ya? A spleen here, a kidney there, who will miss them? -- Hurricane

The incoming class of 2012 knows some of the following: 1. Jay Leno has been the only host of the Tonight Show. 2. IBM never made typewriters. 3. Pee-Wee never had a playhouse. Check out the others here -- goes back to the Class of 2000... http://www.beloit.edu/mindset/2012.php -- Hurricane
