  1. Splittin' hairs on that one. He is still the leader de facto of the Mercury gang. -- Hurricane
  2. Those are awfully big shoes to fill too. -- Hurricane
  3. Same here William. Not my cup of tea. I think I've seen Blackbeard's Ghost more (kids here... that's my story and I'm sticking to it!) Cutthroat Island - 50 to 100 times Black Swan - a dozen The Buccaneer - 10 Nate and Hayes - 5 Crimson Pirate - 10 Captain Blood - 4 Against All Flags - 25 Hook - 20 Lots of other fun movies out there that I like better, that's all. -- Hurricane
  4. That would be a tremendous loss, indeed. We would miss you greatly. But I fear this may be the case with many this year, given the increase in airfare combined with the cutback of schedules and the potential loss of several airlines. We're even having a booger of a time getting our miles redeemed into tickets for us to travel this summer. -- Hurricane
  5. Unfortunately it was a guy, and not a very interesting one at that. But boy, he new his chemistry. As for chemistry... I only did well in the relationship kind. -- Hurricane
  6. Love steel wool in the night - it looks terrific and is a real crowd pleaser. -- Hurricane
  7. Thank you! One of our crewe mates works with all the propellants they put into the shuttle and she's been looking to have some fun with chemistry pirating. There was a time here that she came up with a project for the kids and asked if we had any liquid nitrogen around. What a hoot! So this is just the ticket. Me, I cheated my way through chemistry in college... -- Hurricane
  8. Well, how cool was that? Any chemists here? Which chemicals would you add to change the color of the flash to say blue, orange or something else? -- Hurricane
  9. But if we rely on solar energy what will the people of Seattle do? :) -- Hurricane
  10. Electricity can come from many sources: wind, solar, hydroelectric, wave power... it certainly makes more sense than relying on a resource that is limited in the end, no matter how much we dedicate to finding the very last drop. Oil is and has always been a limited resource that will run out. After living through 11 presidents now, nothing seems to change no matter what the issue. As soon as one devotes vast sums of money for a green cause, the next one pulls it all away. Any progress we ever see is dismantled as soon as the next administration from an opposing part gets in. Nothing really gets done because of this see-saw between special interests and the people they put into office. And we will never start a revolution here. If it didn't happen in the 60's, it isn't going to happen now (besides, the hippies are now running all the corporations - the sellouts!). We are lazy and comfortable in our little world. Funny how our ancestors made due without oil or even electricity. The end of result won't be revolution, it will be war with other countries over the last remaining oil in the world. That is how we solve things here - beat others up for what they have and what we want. Like little kids in a sandbox. -- Hurricane
  11. Want to know what happened to the electric car? This movie is amazing! http://www.sonyclassics.com/whokilledtheelectriccar/ -- Hurricane
  12. As long as they keep those pukey non alcoholic beers away, there's no such thing as a bad beer. Can't understand people who actually want to drink beer for it's flavor - it's about the alcohol content, folks -- taste be damned! -- Hurricane
  13. Ah yes, great idea. Diosa makes her own chain mail (what doesn't that girl do?) but she won't lend me any of hers. She says she's making me a special outfit out of old beer can pull tabs. She says I'm too old for all that heavy armor... -- Hurricane
  14. I live with this hell cat. I wish you well too sir. Touch her man and the cat goes wild... thought 10 men weren't enough... wow, can't imagine what will happen now! :) I've already met my match, so meeting my maker shouldn't be a stretch. Besides, Diosa's taken all these strange policies that pay her once I'm dead. So there could be something in it for you once she's done mourning. By the way, when you going to come down and teach us all to fight like Diosa. We're dyin' here, literally! -- Hurricane
  15. My bet's with Diosa on that one. Did I hear a dog barking? (Wuss! Wuss!) -- Hurricane
  16. It's nice to hear about the good of people, even celebrities, these days. Thanks for sharing this! -- Hurricane
  17. A trip to Cayman's Pirate's Week is in order then! They still serve turtle fresh and delicious - my favorite is the stuffed that is cooked in lye that the little old ladies make at the festivals - the way they did it before the 1970s when they got power on the island. -- Hurricane
  18. Thanks Mission. That's a pretty interesting take on things. It is certainly the town that just won't die. Last year they a hurricane and resulting storm surge sent 4 feet of water into all the homes. And, of course, in the 50's, a hurricane destroyed everything except the fort, the hospital and two buildings. They are amazingly resilient people... But they don't speak of the chance of another earthquake and the town's history of them isn't taught in schools there. The kids have never heard of the 1692 earthquake there and with good reason. The next quake is supposed to take the newer side of the town where all the nicer homes are. -- Hurricane
  19. Damn! 29 to 31 miles a gallon? I want it back!!!!! :) -- Hurricane
  20. I must say that the Loyalist dogs are accurate little boogers. We were firing balls out of them for the first time this weekend and all three of the ones were using were spot on center of aim. The old door we were using in the back yard has some really big holes in it now. I would recommend the .575 balls instead of the .600s, which were too tight with a patch. The load was 30 grains with a pillow case patch. Had about the kick of a .45. But otherwise, wow -- never more fun! Here's one result. Popped one into an oak tree 20 yards out after it went through the hollow core door. Now my yards seems so much more piratey! -- Hurricane
  21. Any loose pet would be a potential meal, I should think. Danged pirates get hungry in the tepid heat. They were looking at one of our powder monkeys like they were visualizing him on a spit over an open fire yonder. -- Hurricane In all seriousness, Harry's the one to ask. Find one of his posts and email him or go through the fort's site. He's the man on all issues related to the fort and PiP.
  22. Hold it for six minutes and we'll let you be the Davy Jones Locker Champ too... -- Hurricane
  23. You mean you didn't get a share? Bad crew. Bad crew... -- Hurricane
