  1. Thank you very much. Yes, watercolor on paper. Then drum scanned and digitized, final version as a poster.

    I really must credit Seaskull for the inspiration, though. It was one of those rare occassions when I was able to create something just for the joy of it, and not connected to a work project.

    It's not really my avatar. I was just trying it on... like a pair of socks. :huh:

  2. Argh, well, thank you Sir. But I'm not exactly his mate! I just lust after that fine n' dangerous gentleman bandit black-hearted womanizing scurvy dog of a pirate. He's too slippery to get a rope around, so I don't even try. I just attempt to mezmerize him with the colors n' stuff. Get him in a hypnotic trance an alla that.

    'at's why I got myself a big box of crayons. :huh:

  3. Happy Birthday Seaskull

    ARGH !!

    Thanks Cap'n Weaver. It came out of me little mind and through my fingertips. That's my brain on drugs, sorta. That good kinda drug.

  4. Waterfront

    John Lee Hooker

    I cover the waterfront, watchin' the ship go by

    I could see, everybody's baby, but I couldn't see mine

    I could see, the ships pullin' in, to the harbor

    I could see the people, meetin' their loved one

    Shakin' hand, I sat there,

    so all alone, coverin' the waterfront

    And after a while, all the people,

    left the harbor, and headed for their destination

    All the ships, left the harbor,

    and headed for their next destination

    I sat there, coverin' the waterfront

    And after a while, I looked down the ocean,

    as far as I could see, in the fog, I saw a ship

    It headed, this way, comin' out the foam

    It must be my baby, comin' down

    And after a while, the ship pulled into the harbor,

    rollin' slow, so cripple

    And my baby, stepped off board

    I was still, coverin' the waterfront

    Said "Johnny, our ship had trouble, with the fog

    And that's why we're so late, so late

    Comin' home, comin' down'

  5. Sea-Fever

    John Masefield

    From: Salt Water Ballads (1902)

    I must go down to the sea again, to the lonely sea and the sky

    And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by;

    And the wheel's kick and the wind's song and the white sail's shaking,

    And a grey mist on the sea's face, and a grey dawn breaking,

    I must go down to the sea again, for the call of the running tide

    Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;

    And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,

    And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying

    I must go down to the sea again, to the vagrant gypsy life,

    To the gull's way and the whale's way where the wind's like a whetted knife;

    And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover,

    And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick's over.

    Argh, I know this isn't the poetry thread, but anyway....

  6. Crossing the Bar

    Alfred Lord Tennyson

    From: Demeter and other poems

    (I think this is about dying...not sure what the last line means?)

    Sunset and evening star,

    And one clear call for me!

    And may there by no moaning of the bar,

    When I put out to sea,

    But such a tide as moving seems asleep,

    Too full for sound and foam,

    When that which drew from out the boundless deep

    Turns again home.

    Twilight and evening bell,

    And after that the dark!

    And may there be no sadness of farewell,

    When I embark;

    For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place

    The flood may bear me far,

    I hope to see my Pilot face to face

    When I have crost the bar.

  7. Nope. None of the above.

    I knew I shouldn't have made an avatar out of it. But the person for whom it was created now has it in his possession. Well, an electronic version anyway. I have the original in my possession, matted n' framed and hanging on the wall in color 36" x 48" and it's bloody gorgeous, if I do say so myself.

    Maybe you'll see it tomorrow. Maybe not. I'll let the person for whom it was made make that call.

    ARGH. Art for art's sake an all of that!
