  1. We found a praying mantis in our bathtub when I was a kid. We did the noble thing and caught the poor confused creature and released it into the wild. A few weeks later, we started finding thousands upon thousands of baby mantis' (mantices?) in the same bathroom. Coincidence? I think not.

  2. Sounds great, I was struggling with the deadline as well...just got back from MTA, had an eventful trip home, and am still trying to catch up with everything at home. I'll have my cards ready to go in the mail by the end of this week most likely.

  3. Thank you for sharing the pictures, Mr. d'Dogge...this is one of my favorites.

Fun part was, we didn't have to TRY very hard to get that dirty! I had a great weekend, always wonderful being with the crew. And kudos and thanks to all of you, I learned more listening to the crew talk to visitors than I did from studying up before the event.

Working with Goody Bess and Cookie was a treat, thank you to both of you for the entertainment and cooking education!

Trip home was a bit sucky...spent the night in the Atlanta airport after missing my connection due to being sent to Augusta for hours because of bad weather in Atlanta. Made me wish all the more that I was back at camp with the lot of you!

Was able to snag a few pictures with Jack's camera, here are some of my favorites:

  4. I did a few events while pregnant, and the only real adjustments I had to make were drinking more water and being careful not to get too warm. That seems to lead to fainting. And, of course the obvious, no grog. As for clothing, in the beginning I just wore my stays a little looser...towards the end, I opted for a men's waistcoat over my shift and petticoat. Not entirely PC, but necessary for me at the time. My little girl hasn't been to any overnight events yet, but I bet Callenish and Salty could give you some pointers there. They're the pros.

  5. I don't even look at Black Fox's pics because he has told me I can't use them. There are usually some really good ones and seeing them just makes me want to put those that relate to the Surgeon's Journal on my web page.

Speaking of which, if you want to see what happens during the event with added silly narration, check out the previous PiP SJs. You'll find links to them in the PiP Index Thread. Admittedly, this year I focused less on the regular stuff and more on various people and unique events than I have in the past, but I did that because all the standard events are in the 2007 & 2008 versions. So you can get a pretty good idea of the overall event in them. That's part of the reason I do it...to show what it's all about in what I hope is an amusing way. (Well, I also create it to entertain Brig who pesters me until it is finished. One of my third twins is demanding.)

Why are you here? Why are you posting? Aren't you supposed to be working on something? :P
