  1. Well, the event was a blast! My Entire crew had fun but I'll start out at the beginning.

We were traveling down from Orlando on Thursday eve/ Friday morning. I was up all day Thursday getting or rental van umm... ship. Then the crew from Savannah arrived about 1:30 am. We got on the road around 2:30am. Arrive in Key West about 10 am and set up our camp. (We were not in the fort unfortunately.) Around 1300 we take off for the festival. We got there in time to see a redcoat single-handedly take the fort. That was a feat! Our crew and I hung around for a few more hours until I began to crash.

We hit up the Publix on the way back and grab some vittles. Got back to our campsite and had a few drinks and food. I kinda over did it. Lets just say there was a mess on the ground the morning. B)

So the crew begins to rouse and we get dressed and run off to breakfast. We decide to pillage the Denny's and invade. With twelve of us, it really did seem like an invasion. Our server was one of the best I'd seen. Without a pen or paper he got all our orders correct, for all twelve! So after that our ladies of the crew wanted to do a little shopping. So we swaggered down Duval Street. (Now that I think of it, we parked on "the other end of Duval St.") ;) We ended up at Mallory Square and took some photos and let the ladies do some shopping.

I and me boatswain, Mark, picked the ship. Drove..errr... sailed back and rescued the crew from marooning. We headed back to the festival. As soon as we walk in there was capt'n Jim recruiting as many of my crew as he could for the battle. Soon enough we head and begin waving our swords and shouting insults. Once the redcoats arrive, my first mate Brig takes a hit. I stoop down and begin pick her up for the rest of the battle. Afterwards "it tis but a flesh wound" and we go our merry way. Our crew runs out and grabs meal and supplies to return back to the fort.

When we return the scene is spectacular. Everything is lit with candles or lanterns. I came strolling up to the archway and peer in. There is the pub. On me left there be the tap and down and to the right there be the tavern. The orange flickering glow of the lantern lights dances along the wooden table and benches. There is a wonderful candle lit chandler draped from the ceiling. Me and my crew snag a good corner to the right, next to one of the windows. They start up and good game of dice when Barnacle Beau shows up with guitar and mandolin.

I had brought me tin whistle and harps (harmonicas). So we join up and start playing. Some of the other patrons began to join in singing. Barnacle Beau was generous and let Mark play the mandolin. (Mark was kicking himself for not bringing anything to play.) We played for about and hour and moved it outside due to the heat. It was just to warm inside the tavern. There we played and sang and had a good time.

We called a night and got up the Sunday morning and packed up. It was a short trip but a fun one. My wife and I are coming back next year and this time we are camping in the fort. I will have a flintlock pistol or two. So I can join in on the fun. We had a great time and hope to everyone and more next year.

    Linky to some pictures!!

  2. Yes its a shame me and my crew had to miss that. I would have loved to seen them. Alas there is always next year, I plan on staying in the fort this time. It will be nice to have to be capt'n of 12 next year. I will post the "Rooster Killers" story tonight. Stay tuned.

  3. Aye, me and my crew had a fine time while we were there. I believe me and my wife are planning on camping in the fort next year. One suggestion is, if this hasn't been brought up yet, we need more redcoats. If it is a costume thing I would be willing to make 5 or so coats and pants. Something basic, just so some pirates can dress up for the battles and then go back to there regular grab later. I just need the patterns for the coats. Anyways we had a blast. I hope to come next year as a vendor. My wife and I are going full steam ahead with our business and hope to make PiP next year our grand opening as it were. So it was a pleasure meeting all of you and hope to see you there next year.

  4. Ahhh... well the rest of me crew had to be back to the grind stone on monday and some even had to travel all the way to savannah Georgia . Yes we all were upset about not being there the whole time.

  5. Ayee, I will be postin some pics of it tomorrow. We just got back in town and I'm going to crash. I had a 40 hour day the first day we were there and haven't caught up since. I be postin the pic tomorrow.

  6. I looked around and for the moment the fire was contained. The Shipp was still burning along with 2 or 3 others. We've been hauling water for over 2 hours now. There are three chains drawing water.

"Pretty bloody amazing we got this organized." I muttered under my breath.

"Aye sir, I would agree." replied a man back.

I turn to see from whom the voice was coming from.

  7. Sweat was dripping off my chin. Struggling to get this water up to the buring buildings. "Spash, sizzzzz..." I threw the water on what I could reach. Ithe fire drew back but only briefly. Despriation settingin, I saw there was many people trying to tame the blaze. "We need to work together. Like on a ship" I thought.

"HOho, my friend.." I shouted to a man next to me. "Gather as many men as we can, we need to start a cain."

    "What..." he replied.

"We need everyone to form a line and help run buckets back and forth. I think we 'ave enough people."

"Aye! We need more than a few buckets at a time ehh." he said as truned to his other mates.

    "Aye" I thought to myself.

I picked up as many buckets as I could hold and ran down to the sea wall. Looking for something to help lower the buckets someone slapped me on the back, "Wot can I do to help?"

As I turned to reply I spotted a grappling hook and had an idea.

"Aye, lower these down with that hook 'n line." I said as I handed him the hook and a bucket. "You start to draw the water, I'll hand it off."

I turned and saw people lining up behind me forming a chain.

  8. I always wanted Killingsworth to kill off my friend Ritter. Get that whole vengance thing going. Maybe the "brudders" could try at that one. I felt we got very lucky that Reggie wanted out. His character just needed to die. He was sooo evil. <_<

  9. "WATER, WE NEED MORE WATER!" I shouted as I ran down the street.

The flames started to lick the other buildings. Catching them on fire.

"It's starting to spread, we need more buckets!" shouted someone in the crowd. I grabbed four emtpy buckets and started to run toward the ocean.
