Hmmmmm..... Gettysburg is closer but I have never been to Colonial Williamsburg. Colonial Williamsburg is more expensive. Gettysburg the roll up the sidewalks at 10:00 PM. ....decisions, decisions.

Far from helpless women in those times! Just not very mobile. Aditionally, if one is flying to a festival it is difficult to take the "props" required to ply her trade along. For me at PiP I would need at least 3 sets of garb for the day. Business woman. Pirate (for battles). Bar wench ...or the like. Okay, I admit it wouldn't be a requirement but it would be nice. I could remain in the fort and fight from the ramparts as a business woman defending the place. So that's two outfits ...with lots of fabric each.

Pictures of "where the magic happens"?

Neither. I live in a three bedroom house alone. I am spread out and I leave no flat surface uncovered. ::sigh:: -
Aye Chole, it has. However it has also created an additional problem for me especially at pip. I now need day "business woman" garb, battle slops and "evening ware"! LOL ...as it I didn't have enough baggage this year! LOL

Mythbusters busting pirate myths?
Silkie McDonough replied to Cap'n Pete Straw's topic in Pyrate Pop
As to the eye patch I know of one thing that is somewhat related. When working on stage under bright lights, just before the lights come up or as they go down, it helps to close your eyes for a moment or two before moving. Makes it much easier to see. -

Foxe, read "Green Eggs and Ham" by Doctor Suese. "I will not eat green eggs and ham, I will not eat them Sam I-am." Except for the ending ...mine is for "mature" audiences.

Jim Warren was the first from above to the berth. As his foot found the deck at the bottom of the companionway step his piercing light green eyes met the blank stare of Megan Wardell while she released her words. Time stopped, those present were frozen in that moment. A heartbeat later everyone moved to action. The nearest piece of canvas, a hammock, was cut from where it hung and tossed to Jim who quickly wrapped Miss Wardell. He turned to lead her up the stairs to the surgery. Those on the stair either jumped to the deck below or headed upward clearing the way. Meg did not move. Without warning her knees buckled beneath her Jim took on all her weight lifting her into his arms and carrying the lass up the stairs while another tar helped steady him from behind. She did not cry, her head did not bob or fall onto the sailors shoulder, she was void of all emotion all signs of life save for her breathing and heart beat drained from her. The crew that moments before were involved in a frenzied attack on the interloper now refocused their energy and anger. Tawney's hands and feet were bound together behind him with little effort. They left him as he lay there, beaten and bruised, his breeches open, blood dripping from his mouth. Ajayi removed the blade from his thigh and warm crimson quickly began to soak his slops. Patrick tore the scarf from his head and tied it tight around the thick thigh of the dark man. Then he and another tar struggled to lift the big man to his feet. Supporting much of Ajayi's weight they made their way to the companionway as with some difficulty.

So here I am, at work. January 1, 2007. I'm thinking how much has changed for me since signing on to the pub so, I decided to share some ypdated info. Hands are doing fine since the surgery for Carpal Tunnel. The pain is gone! They work like new. Recovery was a long process and i still don't have all the strength back but I have no complaints. Dad has spent the last ten months in a nursing facility and had spent the year going from that facility to the hospital and back. Friday December 22 he was released to the care of my sister. Each day he is doing better We may not have him with us for long but at least he is improving. I fell in love in May and was single again by December. Life happens that way. I have been to two Pirate festivals and I love it. I am still gathering garb/kit but some day ...some day ...I may SOME DAY be ready for public exposure!

Pirate of the Year 2006 ?????
Silkie McDonough replied to Gentleman of Fortune's topic in Scuttlebutt
Didn't look at it that way since I'm not in the running so I don't need thick skin. I had thought of that, there are many who do things behind the scenes. Being new, I think everyone needs an award except me!
