  1. Now here's an interesting image. You can see clearly that what this young lady is wearing is not stays in the sense we know them. Jumps? Still under her very fine gown, but definitely not fully boned, or even as far as I can tell, partially boned, stays.

There are several images there Jen, which are you referring to?

  2. Jen,

Seems to me that artistic license is used here. That said I also think there ARE many taboos here that I can't explaine. As to the lady on the platform she is clearly an "above average" woman, she has a double chin. It does seem to be some celebration. I don't think the entire painting is shown here I can think of few paintings where characters are cut as they are here. ...then again perhaps not.

    and it is a wedding.

"Troost Cornelis The Wedding Of Kloris And Roosje"

I suggest that the taboos explored are a commentary of the times or perhaps something the artist was known for. It has been YEARS since I took art history and I have forgotten most of what I was to have learned. An artist would sell his work to the rich so the artist would have to appeal to the rich. To understand the painting one must explore the artist, the social structure, political happenings of the day as well as the style of the artist.

  3. I would very much like to move or remove the Facebook Like/Unlike link on the upper right hand of the home page. I would rather see "Recent Topics Added" followed by "Recent Status Updates". i tried clicking on the x to remove it but that x closes all of the right side bar. I tried clicking on "Like" to get rid of it but the FB like is STILL there. Any idea how to remove/move it? Why isn't there a minus side to shrink that part of the right side bar like there is for the other ones over there.

  4. Yes, in yours. The edge was simply a machine edge, no grommets. It is the one I used as my tent the first year you came to PiP (like that last tidbit of knowledge will actually help).

  5. Missing PiP 2009, heavy canvas drop cloth, waterproof, measurement something like 10 x 12, edges finished with a surger. It was used at the Hide to cover the plastic & styrofoam so it should have been packed in the trailer that the Hide was packed in.

Believe it or not it has sentimental value, it would very much like to recover it.

  6. Please add Island Cutter, Blackheart and a Feisty Redhead,Edward O'Keeffe and Lily Alexander and Double Dutch himself X, to the Archangel crewe...thank ye.

I thought Lily Alexander was the feisty redhead. LOL

  7. I agree, discussion is a good thing. I can see both sides on this one but I have to say...

    are you all sitting...

I agree with Hurricane and Mission on this one.

I have been visiting the fort since the 2006 invasion ...4 of us stayed at the fort that year and other than the ants it was okay. The beach is fantastic and I love staying there and who knows ...maybe next year. Finally, Logistically speaking having everything in the fort makes sense.

Bo, more than your donations of goods, and you have been VERY generous thank you, I think your idea of the DMC is one of the most valuable suggestions to any of the not for profit organizations involved in pirate re-enacting. I think we all owe you a big thank you for that one.
