  1. Well almost any given time... it will be used for the Wedding Saturday night...they might want folks out of the way to set up in there...
  2. Hmmm tis half past ten of the clock now...having trouble kicking out the stragglers what?
  3. Just a head's up on The Hide. This year the Hide will not be providing meals as it did last year. The Hide will be open during the day for folks to congregate and of course at night for after hours gathering. There will be a pot luck dessert on Friday at the Hide after the main meal Friday Dessert Thread And the Hide will be reserved for the Wedding Saturday evening. There will be a large fire pit at the Hide for any folks that need the use of one. Still waiting to hear back from the powers that be regarding fire wood, whether or not crews will need to bring their own or not...as there can be an issue with importing fire wood from out of state. So whether or not the park service will be providing the wood, is still up in the air as of this date. As the crews are on their own for dinner prior to Friday night and morning meals, crews do need to think about organizing breakfast for themselves and dinner for anyone arriving prior to Friday. Still waiting to hear back on lunches as well. So start planning yer morning meals and remember crews will need to bring their cook gear as well.
  4. Hmmm on Josh's last birthday...he made hardtack to bring to the class for his party. I thought he was crazy so we shipped in some cupcakes and juice as well... The kids in the class FOUGHT over the hard tack, Josh brought leftover cupcakes home...
  5. Ah but Rumba m'dear, M. La Gaffe is in the reenactor/living historian side of pyracy...not the Hollywood/Myth side.. so he does need to worry...
  6. http://www.marariley.net/myths/dyerant.htm some interesting thoughts on muted and less bright colours...
  7. Hmmm good to know...now the question becomes "how much more expensive?" grin. Again if middling class is actively participating in wearing black morning clothes in England, the cost may have come "down?" from say the 17th or 16th centuries dying production. Interesting...need to look into this more...thanks especially since I do not portray someone from the Nobility and Kass approved the mourning clothing last Reenactor fest or was it the year before?
  8. Although I understand that black was a more difficult dye to work with, it was being worn in our time frame by even the middling class for mourning wear.. so why make it sound like only a member of the nobility could afford such an item as a suit all in black? Not trying to be argumentative, just curious.. I am seeing Black runaways in black coats but not until the 1760s
  9. Thank you Anne... info is already forwarded along to those that need to know, so rest easy. Anyone else uncertain, please feel free to post your tent footprints here, it will get to the right individuals.
  10. There will be another thread devoted to the fire pits when Fayma is ready to post... for now just let it be said, that due to the Park Service, there will be a limited number of fire pits, including the community fire at the Hide, that is available for anyone to use, including doing any cooking demos. It is a possibility that the larger crews, such as the Mercury, will also have their own fire pit available to their crew... but we shall wait on Fayma/Spike to let us know what the Park Service will or will not allow. This year the Hide itself will not be providing any meals, although, as of now, it will be used Saturday night for the Saturday meal being provided and for the dessert night Friday, after dinner. The Hide will also be providing drinking water/gatorade in the large cargo coolers throughout the entire weekend. Hurricane, correct me if I am wrong, but I believe your group offered to provide "lemonade" as well at your pub... That being said, certain meals will be provided although folks need to start thinking about packing breakfast, snacks and possibly something for lunch, as, so far, they will have to fend for themselves in these areas.
  11. Thanks Willie...maybe we can put you right in the middle between both camps...
  12. Thank you Vintage Sailor... footprint noted... as to fire pits, that will be addressed in a separate thread in the not too distant future as these will be, unfortunately, limited, but then they always were. There will be a large community fire at the Hide available to everyone though...also anyone who has braziers will be allowed to use those as well.
  13. Thank you but already taken care of...
  14. Ah William, Maddogge needs more than a 6 x3ft space... he was only joking... I have his actual tent footprint
  15. Archangel crewe would be interested in 10 10 footers...
  16. Thank you William for stepping in to handle the Mercury Crew... much obliged. I will continue to forward along any Mercury members' info to you
  17. Still nailing this down... Hawkyns, please see pm...
  18. Those wishing to ship things down to PiP, please contact me at archangeljhsterlingcpt@embarqmail.com... once again I am handling this personally in order to lighten the work load on the event organizers. I will forward along the shipping address to you and the information you need. Items will be shipped to Fayma and she does not wish to have her personal address posted on an open forum... I am certain all here can understand such a request. Also she recommends dealing with UPS or USPS.... she knows there is a UPS Store in town in order to arrange return shipments after the event..she does not know of one for Fed Ex...so you will want to stay away from that...
  19. Quote from Island Cutter... "Perhaps not the place for this post, yet the discussion of transporting tents brought it to mind. Is it possible, practical or permissible to ship (UPS) canvases down to the Fort and have them stored until our arrival? I am not suggesting something random, but a somewhat organized shipment(by parameter of dates). I do understand what this might entail, but the possibility could really make or break the visit for someone flying in to the event, or those with limited space in a vehicle. I am also going to investigate a "commercial alternative" such as shipping to a "Mailboxes Plus" or similar, and see if they will hold a shipment for "immediate" pick-up. "The Devil is in the Details" isn't he, though!? 'Cutter "
  20. Fayma understands this.... she is looking into it and will get back with the answer as soon as she knows
