  1. Pat, this thread has been up since June 11....more than ample time! Seriously though, there is another Lockhouse in November...weekend of the 3-4... Nov. is the one the crew of the Archangel is really aiming at. Unfortunately with gas prices the way they are this summer, and two big August events up in the northern midwest, moving 30 some odd folks over and down from the midwest for a one day event in July is really pushing it cost wise. Car pooling or not. Hopefully things will be a whole lot better in Nov.. still we are committed to the Nov. event. (AND hopefully things will be a whole lot better gas wise NEXT summer... it really is putting a damper on travel) It is also critical that we make the Nov. event as a pre-PiP practice... go over the hangings, swordplay, and tis when I am collecting all the tents, gear etc, of the rest of the crew, since I will be driving down from Virginia and they will be flying in... so if you can make both Lockhouse, then great.. if you can only make one... the Nov. might be your best bet for meeting lots of folks... either way, Blackjohn will treat ye right. He is a gem of a host.
  2. Oi speak fer yerselves! Here, here...I second that. Some of us perfer higher profit and lesser risk. Lesser risk?! Now where be the fun in that?
  3. Someone promise to cut me down if I'm stilling hanging on the gallows...
  4. And he calls me a fancy dan... look at them bright red stockings...just aim for the legs lads, ye can't miss him!
  5. ...to remind me I am not the only lunatic in my crew.
  6. The crewe of the Archangel would also welcome you if you plan to come in yer red togs as we shall be playing pirate hunter come this event. Mercenaries always appeal to us.
  7. Giles Milton's White Gold and Daniel Vitkus's Piracy, Slavery and Redemption (again)
  8. Try as hard as he might wish, Sterling knew that even with two good eyes, he would never be able to see in his new accommodations without the use of a candle. And with naught but the small clothes on his back, payment for such an extravagance was out of the question. Like the blind man he now was, he moved gingerly about the cell, bound hands stretched outward, moving slowly over cool stone surfaces. At one point he tripped over a small wooden stool and fell, landing hard upon the cell's floor. Years of dirt and rotten straw erupted in clouds of dust about him. He climbed to his feet, sneezing, brushing the filth from him, before he could continue his exploration. All the while his mind should have been turning over thought after thought as to why he was where he now found himself and how he could rectify the situation. An ordinary man may even have toyed with the thought that he could not even remember when last he had eaten, but only one thing harried Sterling. "Tis an easy thing to bed such a one then toss her aside. I have already annulled the marriage!” Two simple sentences plagued him like nothing ever had before… that… and the possibility that now, he would never be able to tell his wife the truth.
  9. You know with all you lot, next event, we will be laughing so hard amongst ourselves in camp, I quite doubt we'll ever make the field!!
  10. Now that would be too easy...kind of like buying brown eggs at the market instead of having fresh ones cooked over the camp fire for breakfast... geeze I think I need some lunch.
  11. **Captain rolling eyes** obviously ye know nothing about living on a ship...as far as transportation to events, I shall check with the local vet, as I would be surprised if some sort of paperwork were not the order of the day.. and allow the experts, Swansons, to handle all that... and ye, m'dear, are an actress, not a pyrate at all...
  12. Has anyone ever come across any sort of information, whether written or some sort of picture, showing cages/containers for chickens during the GAoP time frame? Unfortunately we cannot have the real things running free around camp.... thanks for any help.
  13. Oi I do have a question about that soy milk... how well does it taste and how long will it keep once opened without a cooler and ice? I was thinking it might do well for camping at events until we get a goat.... or do we have one of those already??? I know we now have a parrot and chickens that will be attending to play their parts....
  14. Sterling glanced to cocky brother-in-law and smirks. "What? Ye must be smuggling clysters now?"
  15. Haven't had one of those...sounds interesting... CG?
  16. How about a coffee...I think I need one...
  17. Marshallsea was in turmoil. As Sterling was pushed further into the prison’s innards, he felt as if he were swimming against a powerful current of soldiers. Men swarmed about them, pushing their way past in the opposite direction, heading to see to the damage inflicted by the blast and to try to restore sanity to the inmates. When finally Sterling was brought to a halt, he found himself before a full oak door, substantial, weighty, and ominous. The only bars were located in the grill work that now lay hidden behind a small square door within the door. As heavy object was unlocked and shouldered open, stale air from years of disuse escaped out into the passageway nearly bowling them over where they stood. As first man entered small area of confinement, torch sputtered and dimmed, casting nightmarish shadows on walls that were solid stone. Gone were the iron bars that separated cell from cell, in fact, this hell hole was all that seemed to exist in this section of the prison. Pinon entered next, glanced briefly about then, with nod of approval, made his way back out into the passage. Icy gaze was focused on Keeper and anger was finally unleashed. “He should have been placed here from the start!” Pinon barked. “Surely I made myself plain enough when first I gave you your instructions! If he has managed to send word to the outside, I shall be sorely disappointed and you, sir, shall find yourself and family out in the gutter.” Keeper bristled at commencement of tongue lashing but held his own in check. “What other instructions have you not comprehended?” Pinon continued. The other man shook his head. “None, sir, we have done as you have asked. Other than the prisoners in the cells about him, he has had no contact with anyone save the guards or myself.” “He should not even have contact with you!!” Pinon screamed. “I have taken what little coin he had upon his person,” the Keeper interjected. “He has nothing left with which to tempt anyone.” Pinon turned suddenly, ice cold eyes making a quick study of Sterling’s person. Silver buckles glared up at him from Sterling’s shoes. Long, slender finger jutted to point. “Take them! Take his shoes!” Pinon whirled on the Keeper. “And so help me if anything more goes amiss before his trial….” “No wait!” Sterling interrupted Pinon’s rant as one of the soldiers bent to Pinon’s order. He backed away as best he could, leg irons still hindering his steps. “Why are you doing this? Surely there is something that you are not telling me. I am innocent of the charges you have brought against me and even if I were not, others in such a sorry state are not treated thus.” Pinon’s hand darted forward, fixing about Sterling’s throat and forced him back even further until the wall and not his chains, brought Sterling to a standstill. “Innocent?” Pinon offered, his tone as cold as the expression in his eyes. “And what of the Trade Winds’ overseer?” Head pinned back against the hard stone, Sterling’s eyes lowered. “For God’s sake, I do not even know if that be true either. Surely that alone does not require such treatment as I have received …I …surely…” eyes closed. Why would Reiley have lied regarding the murder of another man? If he had taken a life for reasons other than battle or self preservation what right had he to argue? He remained quiet as his shoes were taken from him and then he was cast into complete darkness as oaken barrier was hauled to a close.
  18. To the Ladies and Gents of the Archangel crewe... once again we seem to be hijacking a thread that should be used to share photos and express the good times had at PW. For all other scuttlebutt, feel free to use the The Crewe of the Archangel News thread over in the Pirate Crews area... Thank you, His High & Mightyness The Captain
