I got such a good laugh out of the topic title that I had to relay it to Saber! It cracked him up too! Who makes the pirate town? Maybe I can find it on-line someplace for you.

What funny things have happened to you when you were out in public dressed as a pirate? One time, I had to pull into a drive-thru ATM while dressed in my pirate garb and driving my Mitsubishi Eclipse. The Eclipse was very low to the ground and despite my long monkey arms, I couldn't quite reach the buttons on the ATM machine. So I reached over and grabbed the nearest thing from my sword belt, which happened to be my flintlock and started punching the buttons with the muzzle. It was then that I remembered that the ATM have security cameras and here I was, waving a pistol at one of them! I can just imagine that somewhere there was a frantic security guy sounding the alert that a hold up was taking place by some nut in a pirate outfit! Needless to say, as soon as I realized what I'd done, I put away the 'lock and finished my transaction with my fingers, leaning out the window of my car!

LOL ye must have thought I was admiring the view from the gunport, eh?!!! -

I got mine through Pedersoli also. They have a good price going at $210 and a long history of good service. You will need to go to a store which sells gun supplies and get a .50 caliber brush to clean it, the rod it goes on and a ram rod to load it. The Queen Anne doesn't come with them. You'll also need black powder and a newspaper. Be sure you have someone experienced to coach you or go to a gun range where they have someone on staff to coach you if this is your first time using a flintlock.
-
I absolutely LOVE my Queen Anne. It is a beautiful piece and what I like best about it is that it is very well balanced and comfortable. The larger heavier-barreled 'locks tend to feel heavy in the muzzle to me, and I really like the feel of the Queen Anne. A word of warning. DO NOT USE PYRODEX OR OTHER BRANDS OF SMOKELESS BLACK POWDER SUBSTITUTE. USE ONLY GENUINE BLACK POWDER. It will leave a sticky oily residue that will clog your touch hole, coat your frizzen and cause misfires. I can't stress this one enough. It takes many times of cleaning and many times of firing it to get all the crud off. The flintlocks can become quite unreliable being fired with this stuff. Don't use it even once. Order black powder if you can't find it locally and don't use a substitute.

Last Sunday we had a great day of sailing. We went beyond the Golden Gate Bridge and out to sea along the coastline as far as Bolinas and then headed about 10 miles out to sea before coming back in. There were dolphins everywhere, both gray and black, leaping out of the water alongside the Royaliste. We had the unusual experience of winds carrying us northward along the coastline and a following sea pushing us from behind. The waves were large, about 8 to 10 feet, lifting the Royaliste high up into the air and sending us on an all-day rollercoaster ride that rivaled the best air-time on The Big Dipper, our local rollercoaster at the Boardwalk. This was NOT the best day for me to try sailing without the aid of Dranimine, but all the stores were closed at 8am on Sunday morning sooooooooo... out I went, and about half way out, I had to turn the helm over to Saber and lose my breakfast over the side. Not just once, but I was deathly sea sick the whooooooooooole time! Not to say that I didn't have fun none the less! I loved the rollers, even sick as a sea dawg!! Finally, I was so out of it that I actually fell asleep on my knees in the gun port, so I stood up to try to stay awake and feel asleep on my feet! At that point Saber sent me below and I slept until I felt us pull into the harbor and came topside to help. I got a rousing cheer from everyone on board as I staggered out!!! The Royaliste is now fully stocked with both Dranamine and Alkaseltzer and I'm rarin' to go for the next sail!!!

All is well with the bay area pirates. We didn't feel a thing. We were either on the ship or out to breakfast about that time. All is well here.

A Pirate Parade Float In the Making!!!
TalesOfTheSevenSeas replied to TalesOfTheSevenSeas's topic in Thieves Market
You need to go to wherever you downloaded the file in your hard drive and double click it. If you're not sure where you downloaded it to, run a search for SJHP.AVI in your hard drive. It should have launched after you downloaded it on it's own. If double clicking the file doesn't work, you may need to download realplayer or another player that plays .AVI files. -

Now that's odd.... Saber told me that was HIS old photo from way back when! That be a photo wot been handed from pirate wench to pirate wench, marvled at from east coast to west. But who he really be remains a mystery! Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.... me thinks we should seek him out and find the equivalet of a glass slipper to try on him! If the cutlass fits the scabbard, we'll know we've found our Pirate Charming!

'Quill looks around at all the writing on the privy wall and decides that the bawdy ladies of the pub would get a kick out o' a pirate pin-up on the privy wall and figures the privy humor be 18 n' over and after all, the lad is clothed... well, sorta. Well if it be too extreme I be a-rippin' him down at the first request! *un-rolls the poster* *gawks* Lad, I don't know who ye are or where ye be, or even if yer endowments be real or Photoshopped, but... but... damn, whatta pirate!! I loved Norringtons comment- "These guys (the pirates) all look so cool! And I look like an ice cream cone!!!" It was also fun to discover that Norrington has a first name- James.

The Land Shark's On-Line Naming Party!
TalesOfTheSevenSeas replied to TalesOfTheSevenSeas's topic in Scuttlebutt
I'll do that Pete!! I just saw a video tape of the telecast last night and we got GREAT coverage! The announcers got a big kick out of us and were laughing at our antics and making pirate jokes, so that spent an exceptionally long time with us! I'm going to try to make an .AVI that I can upload to the web by playing it on our big screen TV and re-recording it with the digital camera's movie function. I don't imagine the quality will be too good, but I'm hoping we'll be able to give everyone a look at the footage. -
Lucky Penny's Housewarming Party
TalesOfTheSevenSeas replied to Lucky Penny Hawkings's topic in Scuttlebutt
Since the genetically altered glo-fish are thus far illegal in California, I think it would be the perfect fish for a pirate! I can see it now...You'd have to smuggle the little fishy across the border with him flapping about under your hat, while the border patrol searches your car for contraband, fruit, plants and illegal aliens. *Imagines Penny talking to a border patrol officer in shades, with her hat hopping inexplicably up and down on her head as she says "fishes? We don't need no stinking fishes!!!" * -

Congrats on the new place! High ceilings are great! It makes a place feel open and gives it a unique look and atmosphere. Pirate Twister eh? That might be tough with a cutlass!!
