  1. I knew we would see a run of pirate related movies in the wake of POTC2. Was I surprised to find this little gem. Pirates is a movie made by some person who goes by the name "Joone" and is listed as a photographer and film maker. Most of the featured women of the movie have the look of the adult industry about them. I found the movie kinda funny and the effects weren't bad. If you have a bunch of adult friends in port and want something fun to go with the rum and aren't looking for "art"this movie might do the trick.

  2. Milwaukee has a very nice musem andsome great book stores. Try Half Price Books if you get a chance, 3 locations to serve you better.

And don't forget Bristol Faire is just 30 minutes south!

  3. Details are few and far between right now but the Mall of America in Minneapolis MN is hosting a promo party for the Minnesota Ren Festival. The Date is Saturday July 22. The Pyrates of Portobello will be doing our musical thang at some point.

    More details will follow...

  4. I can only hope that they will include the deleted scenes on the DVD. I found the deleted bits from POTC 1 very nice and helped create even more depth (my fave was when Elizabeth asks Jack if the rumors are true and he shows her his scars, rather dark but very effective).

Glad the 3rd movie will answer these questions and more.

Now for a question from my wife who wants to know if Jack's ears are pierced (I think Johny Depps are)?

  5. Okay, I saw POTC 2 and had good time but there was A LOT OF STUFF GOING ON IN THAT MOVIE. I fear I've missed a few things. If you have ideas or answers on these topics let me hear you.

And if you worked on the movie I'd love to hear your insights.

First, what/ was that creepy place from which Jack escaped via the coffin? Oddly, why are they throwing coffins in the ocean instead of just wrapping the dead in a section of bed linen with a big rock to sink them?

I assmused that Jack was moving toward the goal of deadmans chest before he was visited by Bootstrap. What do you think?

Monkey steals coin at the end of POTC and monkey is now undead. Where is the coin?

Weasel-like offical of the East India Trade Company has power over Port Royal how? And I understand he was the man who branded Jack but what did Jack do to him?

What happens to Davy Jones' crew when they finish serving time aboard the Flying Dutchman? Maybe no one has ever lived to tell the tale.

Jack stole a ring from Tia Dalma and is wearing it opn his thumb correct? And it resembles the music box that Davey Jones has?

Will sees Jack and Elizabeth kiss and yet does nothing when she gets in the boat. Is this resolved, I think no since he didn't seem to eager at Tia Dalma's vodoo lair?

    Let hear your ideas...

  6. The MRF management can be a wee bit up tight. I suppose they might worry about a patron passing out during the parade run. I don't think it would be a problem but since they have issued my "Letter of Marque" I best remaind on the boss's good side.

  7. Rumor on the pirate weekend is that it will also be beer tasting.

I'll see if I can get a bunch of you who come in pirate garb in the parade that weekend if I can swing it with management. That is if you are interested.

  8. So I'm in Blockbuster yesterday I a spy this new arrival entitled "Pirates of Treasure Island". I figured that with the popularity of POTC 2 that a few other pirate movies would appear to cash in on the pirate fever. I scooped it up. It had Lance Hireknsand (sorry about the spelling) from Aliens, Terminator, and the TV show that was similar to X-files back in the late 90's. Can't be all bad if it has that kind of talent in it right?

    Wrong!

It was painful to watch. They must have a had 4,000 budget and just shot it in a local park. This movie might be fun to watch if you drink everytime they do something awful. :o

  9. I finished a book on the Bounty not more than a month ago. Although it was after the GAOP it did mention that many of the Bounty Sailors got tattoos while amoung the South Pacific tribes. Many choose to have the date of when they landed on the various islands as a traveling mark while other had different art based upon local designs. Fletcher Christain himself was said to "inked" while amoung the natives.
