  1. Welcome back!
  2. Excellent! Glad to have you!
  3. Welcome back!
  4. We're up to five participants with a week to go in sign ups. Thank you for joining in!
  5. So glad you're in! I'm excited to see who else will join us this year!
  6. With the return of the Pyracy Pub comes the reanimation of Pyracy Pub Gift Exchange! I'm looking for a crew, from far locations, willing to come together for a special mission. This crew will be elite, capable to carrying out the most difficult of tasks...putting things in the post. Sign up now! In all seriousness, the Pub Gift Exchange has been a lovely tradition going back many years. I've missed it; the creative gifts it has spawned and the good cheer for all. However, please, before you commit to participating in this event be absolutely sure that you will follow through on the terms as provided below. I'm sure you all can understand how frustrating it is to be the person who is still waiting for their surprise well after the New Year...So don't create that situation. So here's how it’s going to work: Who is eligible: Any current member of the Pub is eligible. Regardless of membership status, by signing up you solemnly agree that you will provide some sort of pleasant contact with your designated recipient. If you don't I'll be distinctly displeased with you. I've got no real authority except my opinions. What you'll do: Sign up. See below for information about how to accomplish this. After the sign-up cut-off I will PM you the name and address of your Designated Recipient. Sometime in the near future you will put something in the mail, timed so as to arrive before December 25, for your Designated Recipient. What you will send: Often these sorts of arrangements come with a dollar amount limit. I’m not convinced that is appropriate for some place like the Pub, and things have been pretty successful in the past without one. Please don't let this lack of specification make you uncomfortable. Also know that you're not buying our friendship, respect or any other sort of attention, so don't bother showing off. Consider your own situation and be reasonable with how a gift exchange will fit into it. Things that people have done in the past: Holiday Cards, CD's, dice, a deck of cards, belt pouches, glass pens, etc.... Basically anything goes as long as it is kind and reasonably well intentioned. If this section is really stressing you out PM me, and we'll come up with something or I'll give you quantitative limits to make you feel better. The most successful gifts are often hand crafted, but they don't have to be. How to sign up: Send me a PM with your name (or something the post office will recognize as a name capable of receiving packages) and an address. Each interested party must contact me themselves, from their own account. I won't sign anyone up on someone else's say so. Simply expressing interest here is like wise insufficient. You must send me a PM with your name and address. This is a test. I MUST RECEIVE YOUR PM BY FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 24th. FOR YOU TO PARTICIPATE! I will then mix up all the entries and pair up everyone, plan on this taking one week. I'll then send you a PM no later than December 1st containing the name and address of your Designated Recipient. General Information: Once you have your recipient, you will then find, craft, beg, or barter something for them and post it off to the supplied address. Please let me know when your package has shipped. After the Gift exchange is complete everyone should purge their PM's of sensitive identifying information (like names and addresses) and I will do the same. You're free to open your Gift whenever you get it (or to wait for some special day) and post here in great detail about it. You are free to post here, in this thread, general information about what you are interested in to help your Designated Giver. You're also free to remain entirely mum.You can also PM me details and I'll share them with your Designated Gifter. If you've any questions please post here or send me a PM. I'm looking forward to a season of festive or at least interesting cheer! Thanks, Duchess.
  7. What you do with them after they leave my hands, is out of my hands! 🤐
  8. Hello my friends! I've completed printing on the Traveling Yards! They ended up a bit rustic and rough, a look which in this context I find charmingly pyratical. We're on to the drying and finishing stage, which I expect will take a couple of weeks. I'll be reaching out to you via pm to confirm shipping addresses shortly.
  9. I'm heading off to the final weekend of my localish renaissance festival tomorrow. I entirely failed at any plans for new garb despite my carefully laid plans. So this evening I've been digging through my bins to cobble something together from things I made nearly two decades ago. A small leather folder contained this note and some handmade goods from one of our departed friends and I find it is suddenly a maudlin evening here abouts.
  10. My very first car was the Spruce Moose. Haven't named another since. I do have a 3lb ball pein hammer called Mr. Happy.
  11. Thanks for sharing, it all turned out great!
  12. Please post final pics of it all for those of us who can't make the event, but have been following along!
  13. It's been 20 years and I know it's unreasonable to believe that none of us would sail on. But I find I'm willing to entertain quite a bit of unreasonableness if it means that folks I've known are out in the world simply carrying on with their lives. For whatever reason and all the reasons, this hits hard today.
  14. Very cool! I've started doing some leather work this year and I know it's not easy!
  15. Neat! Is Pearl Leather your work?
  16. Last weekend I worked up a proof of concept for what I'm thinking of doing for our Traveling Yard. This bandana uses 5 separate blocks, which were all made for other projects, not designed with cohesion in mind. (And two of the blocks were considered failures for their intended purpose!) While this is a time consuming printing process, I think it will work out nicely. I'm excited to see what you all come up with for your blocks and how they can be brought together in the final product. If you have any questions, need suggestions or want to talk through your ideas, let me know! Note: The imperfections on this piece will likely be similar to those on our final Traveling Yard. If I had to reject every incomplete, misaligned print or smudge, I'd run out of bandanna blanks, time, money and sanity.
  17. Sure! I'll see what I can do with layouts, like I said smaller pieces might make that easier. Could you rank them so that if I can't include them all for some reason, that I make sure to include your favorite? Should be just fine!
  18. You're not supposed to make this feel like work for me.
  19. Excellent! It looks like it's just the four of us: Mary, Stynky, me and Pete with Michael's blocks. So let's plan on no larger than a 12"x12" design from each person, ie 25% of the available area. From a practical standpoint it will be easier for me to create an overall design if your block/image is significantly smaller than this, but if you want to roll at this max size, I can probably work with it. If you'd like to run through some ideas, let me know. I'm available for messaging or a video chat if you want. If anyone else thinks they might like to jump in and can get me a block by the September due date, let me know!
  20. Let's save the Mercury one for the Mercury crew or a separate project. But I want to point out it's a great example of a relatively straightforward way to produce a print block. So folks who are interested take note, you just need a hunk of wood and a knife!
  21. The Traveling Yard sign up is open over in Arts of Pyracy! I'd love to see a couple more folks sign up so we can really build an eclectic piece of fabric. https://pyracy.com/topic/19754-the-traveling-yard-2023-information-and-sign-ups/#comment-420707
  22. If you're interested but intimidated or don't know where to start, let me know! I can offer some advice and store suggestions for supplies! If the cost of supplies and postage is stopping you, send me a DM, I'm willing to subsidize a person or two who wants to participate but is concerned about the cost. Let's get a few more folks in on this!
  23. Removes are generations. So this person is six generations after the person that is your 13th cousin. You and your 13th cousin would have to go back 14 generations to find a common ancestor.
  24. Yes! This is going to be good!
