  2. ERIS, Check out me website, www.Blackbead-jewelry.com, and follow the links to the pictures of me handmade swag. I plan on putting up more after this weekend. Thank ye for the good wishes! I'll be reportin' in about me successes next Monday! Blackbead
  3. Ahoy, Eris! No, ye ain't a thread killer. I don't know about everybody else but I have been going nuts the last week or so - making jewelry like there's no tomorrow for a show next weekend; enjoying the energy coming off our book and the latest review; my day job has gone through the roof; and the young man that I mentor wanted to go on a double date! LOTS goin' on! But, I'm going to try and get some pictures and put them up. The book sounds great - let me hear from you about it when you get more into it. Blackbead
  4. "EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeee-Immanuel Kant was a real pissant Who was very rarely stable Heidegger, Heidegger was a boozy beggar Who could think you under the table David Hume could out consume Schopenhauer and Hegel And Wittgenstein was a beery swine Who was just as schloshed as Schlegel There's nothing Nietzche couldn't teach ya 'Bout the raising of the wrist Socrates, himself, was permanently pissed John Stuart Mill, of his own free will On half a pint of shandy was particularly ill Plato they say, could stick it away Half a crate of whiskey every day Aristotle, Aristotle was a bugger for the bottle Hobbes was fond of his dram And Rene' Descartes was a drunken fart 'I drink, therefore I am' Yes, Socrates, himself, is particularly missed A lovely little thinker But a bugger when he's pissed!"

  6. ROFLMAO!! Excellent! WELL done, mate! Well, c'mon ye 'lubbers! Where be the rest of ye?!?
  7. I like the guy's style - he says he's doing the Titannic next!
  8. Check out http://www.msn.com/ frontpage video story today! A gentleman from Argentina named Bernardo Casasola worked for over seven and a half years to make a model of a Spanish galleon entirely out of matchsticks! I know what you are thinking but it is incredible! The ship is over ten feet long, fully rigged, and complete down to the last detail. The thing is beautiful! If you get to the page after they take it down, search for the man's name in any search engine and you should get a link to the video of the ship.
  9. Out of the Caribbean sailed a pirate named Sven, Who was forever expelling odiferous wind, One night the mess was broccoli, Which caused the bo'sun to shout shockily, "Run for your lives! Sven's at it again!"
  10. I don't have a problem working on spec ....meaning that if I make money fine and if not that still works for me; credit and by-lines is always a good thing for the purpose of getting further work Excellent, mate! For further signals, drop me a line at blackbeads_tc@yahoo.com. I'm looking forward to hearing from you! Blackbead
  11. If anyone else responded to the offer in the original posting in this thread, please drop me a message through the forums messaging system. Thank you.
  12. Ahoy, mates! I'm back after a long Christmas revelry. How about to start this off smartly, ye both sketch me what ye envision from the following and we'll start the discussions. I was sailing aboard the brig Adventure, A nimbler square-rigger I've never seen, She was stiff, she was yar, she was weatherly, And her lines were true and clean. And as far as a general statement about this business deal - it has to be a joint venture. We both donate our talent, I'll pay for the set up and production of the book, and then we split the profits. This isn't something that I'm expecting to make me rich but it's something I want to do. Savvy? Blackbead
  13. Hmmm, we have nothing like that in Texas (surprise, surprise) but I'm actually thinking of using a new marketing scheme on those pieces that include vintage beads - I'm going "green." I'm still trying to decide what to call them but those pieces will have a special tag on them. Whadya think?
  14. Oh, Go' BLESS ye, mate!! Quick, let me get me ration 'cause I hear that the temp here is going up to almost 60 before the day is out and then we'll be back in the 20's by Saturday! Ah, the weather in Texas! God help those with a stiff spine and a lousy attitude! Blackbead
  15. I've had several people ask and so - PLEASE feel free to use this poem for your own purposes. All I ask is that you leave it in its present state, leave my name on it, and leave the copyright symbol and date as is. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
  16. Ahhh, Ransom, the response to my site has been suckee! If you don't count books or toys or flintlocks, the only thing I ever sold over the web was ONE bracelet! I don't know if I just didn't get it out there for people to see or my stuff sucks or if people just want to touch, fondle, and try on jewelry before they buy it. I do so much better at faires and art shows that I have actually taken down my commercial site. One of my goals in the coming year is to revamp the site and start creating a better internet presence. I'm going to start writing a blog, as well, and see about getting some of this affiliate dough! My luck with skulls has been catch as catch can. I'll just use the internet if I HAVE to have something now. I have some heavy, brass skulls which are very nice but they are more for pistol tags and that sort of thing. More to come! MERRY CHRISTMAS!! Blackbead
  17. As a six year veteran of the business, I only have one suggestion: Charge all ye can; ALL SALES ARE FINAL! Seriously, sounds like you are ready. I'm still trying to turn the bend, so to speak. It's a sideline for us but one we want to retire into. I did pretty well last year but not something that we could live off of unless we wanted to live in a van, down by the river. The goal is to set up a shop somewhere at some point but keep doing shows and try to get a larger internet presence. Stay the course! And best of luck to ye! Blackbead
  18. I thank ye, mate, and I'm glad ye enjoyed me work! Merry Christmas to ye! Steve "Blackbead" Sanders
  19. Cap'n Bob: PLEASE, feel free to pass this on just so long as you preserve the name and copyright date. And, if anyone you send it to is interested, more poetry from this poet is available in Raising Black Flags: Original Poetry By and About Pirates, ISBN 978-0-615-25535-4, Blackbead Books, 2008. The book is available for sale from www.Blackbead-jewelry.com, Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble.com, and many other fine book retailers on the web. Go'bless ye, mate! Blackbead
  20. Wishing everyone a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and hoping that my friends have the best year ever in the coming year and my enemy gets what he truly deserves before the end of 2009! The Pirate Christmas Party Fifteen men ‘round the Christmas tree, Ho, ho, ho, and a bottle of rum! All were pirates including me. Ho, ho, ho, and a bottle of rum! The party was loud and runnin’ wild, Celebratin’ the birth of the dear Christ child, But this were no place for the meek or mild! There was meat and drink for all to spare, The table was laden with Christmas fare And red and green rigging for all to wear! Ho, ho, ho, and a bottle of rum! Fifteen men with presents for all, Ho, ho, ho, and a bottle of rum! Some were great and some were small. Ho, ho, ho, and a bottle of rum! The cap’n brought a brand new blade, The mate he brought some socks he made, The bosun brought silk of ruby shade. All went under the Christmas tree, Boxed or bagged so none could see, While the crew carried on the festivity! Ho, ho, ho, and a bottle of rum! Fifteen gifts for the pirates and tars, Ho, ho, ho, and a bottle of rum! Some in boxes and some in jars. Ho, ho, ho, and a bottle of rum! Cookie boiled some special sweets, Bucky broiled some smoky meats, Each gob they brought some special treats. And they were piled so shiny and bright, They looked just like the stars at night, Bound in paper and tied up tight Ho, ho, ho, and a bottle of rum! Fifteen pirates all feastin’ and drinkin’, Ho, ho, ho, and a bottle of rum! Each manjack there was sittin’ and thinkin’ Ho, ho, ho and a bottle of rum! “Which package should I choose to pick?” “Which of all will do the trick?” “Will Cookie’s gift there make me sick?” Then came the time to choose a gift, Under the tree we all did drift, To see which present each would lift. Ho, ho, ho, and a bottle of rum! The good captain chose the ruby silk, Ho, ho, ho, and a bottle of rum! The mate he got some coconut milk, Ho, ho, ho, and PUT IT IN THE RUM! The bosun got the captain’s blade, Cookie got the socks handmade, And Bucky got a ring of jade. I wound up with the boiled sweets And passed them out for all to eat That way I stayed upon my feet! Ho, ho, ho, and a bottle of rum! Fifteen pirates loudly carols singing! Ho, ho, ho, and a bottle of rum! Christmas bells are merrily ringing! Ho, ho, ho, and a bottle of rum! The crew is like a family this night, With food and drink we all delight, And presents that fit us all just right We welcome the Christ child to the Earth, With laughter and joy and peaceful mirth We sing His praises for all we’re worth! Ho, ho, ho, and a bottle of rum! Stephen Sanders ©2008
  21. Scupper, Well, I searched the hold from fore to aft and I never did find anything that I carry that a 14 year old lad would like! I have toys for the kiddies and all of the jewelry in me current inventory looked too "lassy" to work. I'm sorry indeed to not be able to be a part of this great 'venture but I applaud your efforts, standing tall. Good on ye lad, especially at this time of the year! Blackbead
  22. Hmmm, many things from the sea can be nasty to the human body. I'm a doctor but not that kind of doctor; I would suggest ye query someone with some knowledge in that direction. Usually the body will spit out anything that don't belong, though. Sorry I am to hear of your misfortune! The last time I be trying to ream out a pearl, it broke all to pieces in my hand! They can be tricky things these components!
  23. Damn the luck! AND the seadog!! 'Tis a pity, to be true! I wish ye the best in finding yer goods!
  24. Ahhhhhh! Go'bless ye, ma'am! On such a day as this (34 degrees with 25 mile per hour winds) this be mighty fine! I'm gettin' ready for a show this Friday at me lovely wife's workplace and me hands are bleedin' from all the earrings I been makin'! Tonight, I get to rest and try and set up the new wireless modem so's I can get back to taking images of me work and puttin' them up on the "shelves" for all to see! I just finished a piece using blue flourite, dyed (silver grey)pearls and Bali silver. Now all I got to do is find some head pins that are strong enough to hold 'em and thin enough to go through the holes! For the earrings, don't ye know! The missus is always sayin' I got to have earrings with every piece I make! Ahhhhhhhhhhh . . .
