  1. Rosalinda, ye kin put an order in if'n ye like! I sold all the ones that I had made, but I have a great cache of beads, from colored glass, skulls, and black cats all the way up to genuine cherry amber, sterling silver, rock crystal and jet. I wore the prototype all three days of the Iowa ren faire and got a great many compliments on it. (That and the red dreadlocks.) Cuz I be the red Nameless Pyrate! Poison Quill, I'll be sending the last one I have made up yer way tomorrow. Rosalinda, I always wanted a Galileo thermometer, maybe we could work a swap, arrr.
  2. Oh, hey, I made a bunch o' those Cap'n Jack Sparrow beaded thingys that hang in yer hair for the Iowa Ren Faire, and I only have one left...d'ye think he'd like that? If so, I'll send it on directly.
  3. And don't forget Rumba Rue's chocolate ships! Yummy!
  4. Hot Topic has a whole host of pirate-y accessories, including those red and white striped sox. How about some temporary tattoos? (I suppose a hook would just be in bad taste, unless ye have a kid AND parents that can take a joke VERY well. Me own hellspawn would appreciate it, but then, nobody ever claimed that they were normal children... )
  5. Don't forget me anna hellspawn!
  6. I just bought an interestin' flintlock/boarding axe combination. I have no idea how authentic it is, but it sure looked kewl
  7. Yep, tryin' to plan on it...I can make KC in a few hours, puts it on me list of regular events to attend. I like Columbus day because ye get THREE days of faire in ONE weekend. The hellspawn and I and anyone else in our entourage usually stay at the Best Western (Or is it Holiday Inn?) big chain hotel in Lansing, KS
  8. I don't remember that it was "flavored" at all, other than terbacky flavor. Me brother in law never smoked, but was a longtime user of that other great tobacco-related vice, chewin' terbacky. And he switched to snuff in an effort to wean himself from chew. (Didn't work too well, so must not be as addictin' as chew.) As an aside, he also liked snuff on his boat better 'n chew OR smokin' terbacky. You can probably get it in any tobacconist's shop, he used to get his in Omaha somewhere.
  9. Well met, Cap'n Shaunassey! I had hoped to make it to KC for pirates weekend but have committed to vending at the Iowa Ren Faire that weekend. I think me an' the rest o' the Nameless Pyrates (we're not very creative) might put in an appearance over Columbus Day weekend, though.
  10. Ye talk about it like it's a habit of the past. Me brother in law enjoys a pinch of snuff to this very day. I've tried it, but, well, ouch, and ew. It comes in a little red box with a pour spout.
  11. Yep, as I trudge around in me business suit and pantyhose in the height of the sultry 100+ degree midwestern summer, (complete with brutal humidity), I'm thinkin' it'd be mighty fine ta go sailing again meself.
  12. Well, me an the Hellspawn would love to come, but absent a winning lotto ticket I don't think we can make it...we'll be thinking about all o' ye, tho. ARRRR!
  13. And the Cap'n bravely mans the helm of the shuddering tall ship, grasshoppers in 'is teeth and corn tassels whippin his weathered face...whoops, wrong thread
  14. The Iowa Ren Fest is in the Amana Colonies, about 90 miles east of Des Moines on I-80. The Nebraska Faire, in Mid-September, is in Ashland, about half hour from Lincoln on I-80. Probably the closest one to you is KC, weekends from now till Columbus Day, and my home faire, the Nishna River Ren Faire, about 40 miles east of Omaha on I-80. Nishna is the first weekend in October, so mark yer calendar!
  15. Probably the closest one to you that I will be attending is the Nebraska Ren Faire in Ashland, NE. Ye can find a full listing and discussion of all the Midwestern events at At the Faire.com
  16. Well, ifn ye be THAT much of a newbie, then I suggest that ye join us at the Iowa Ren Fest, to be held in the Amana Colonies on that same weekend. Me an' the Hellspawn will show ye around, an if yer lucky at all Cap;n S.M. Tymburs will take ye under her wing....
  17. Har, Castaway O' the Cornfields here -- I'm involved in one way or another with many of the Iowa goins on and can point mebbe point ye in the right direction...Did ye know, fer instance, that the KC Ren Faire has a pirate weekend coming up, on Labor Day? Sadly, I have already committed meself to the Iowa Renaissance Faire, to be held that same weekend, so I won't be able to go pillagin' in Kansas City over Labor Day
  18. That is SO KEWL! Er, I mean, ARRR matey, tis quite the find ye have there!
  19. I've been reading "1421: the year the Chinese discovered America," a non-fiction and truly fascinating account of the great Chinese voyages of exploration which predated those of Europe by hundreds of years.
  20. Aye' Cap'n -- the Royaliste is the best of the bunch, and what makes her even better is that she's not to be had for any price! ARRR! A true pyrate ship, she is! And 'twas a great pleasure and a privilege to be there as she showed her stuff on the bay!
  21. Mine is a picture of me taken aboard the Royaliste last Saturday by me own dear Hellspawn.
  22. oooo, human sacrifice, my favorite
  23. Heck no, we wuz talkin' 'bout the raised lettering on the 'Royaliste six pounder to port. still undercover
  24. No brandin' me heine... but line up on the port side the Royaliste, 'undercover'
  25. Woo-hoo! Now, what's it take to install 'em? Need midgets?
