  1. SPECIAL GUESTS - THE CRIMSON PIRATES!

For those of you who were lucky enough to catch the festival in Sleepy Hollow over July 4th, the Crimson Pirates and the Birgands did a joint show, which was just about the most fun we've ever had performing. For the Pirates Other Salty Ball, the Crimson Pirates have agreed to come and do a set of their fantastic music. Do not miss this show if you can help it !

Ship Happens... it certainly does !!

  4. The Brigands bring you The Pirates Other Salty Ball, a night of mutiny, mayhem and music. To be held at the Baymont Inn and Suites in Manchester CT, from 8-12PM. Admission is $10.00 per person. This will be a BYOB (or R as the case may be) evening . The Baymont has reserved a number of rooms for participants at the crazy rate of $69.00/ night, please mention the Salty Ball to get that rate.

The Brigands will be releasing our newest CD, "SHIP HAPPENS" there.

  5. Bo, I feel for ya. We got 5 bikes in our stable now, one of them a 82 KZ440, in abysmal condition.

But it would give pain to get rid of any of them.

You needs you a GoldWing to ride proper now.

Good Luck on sellin it, that is a good price for a classic.

  6. Pretty sure he means Skip Henderson's tune Billy Bones. I had the opportunity to play with Skip a bit at St. Augustine Pirate Gathering last year and forgot to ask him for the chords etc. How I regret that! He is real trip, we talked with him between flights at the airport for an hour!

  7. Master Hook, t'were a pleasure meeting you ! I had no idea we had such venerable pirates here on the Island of Long! If'n ye liked "Guns of Hampton" be sure to pick up a copy of "Ship Happens" when it's released later this year. It will have "Guns" on it plus many other new tunes we have been working on - all liable to reside in your ear for an extended time!

  8. Chaos, one of the prime considerations for a Brigands tune... does it stick? Does it reverberate in your head for a few days? If the answer is yes, then we consider it for adding to our song list. If you think that one has glue, try listening to 'Pirate's Way'. That one was in my head for weeks, so of course we added it.

    Glad you like it, though.

  9. Bo, a caution if you will in the use the kegs for black powder. We used to have a brass bound small keg we used for our cannon powder - it does look cool and all. But after a few years of being bounced around in the Hellion, and being topped off periodically, I found that there was an ever increasing amount of black powder dust being generated within the keg. BP dust is extemely explosive. I tried emptying the keg, rinsing with water several times, drying and refilling. But the amount of dust present when I would totally empty the keg out was still far too much for my comfort. I suspect the water did not get all the dust out, formed a cake-like lining in the keg, which abrasion with new powder then liberated back into BP dust.

If I am not mistaken, powder kegs were not re-used on board ships, they were heaved overboard when empty. Whether this was for weight/space considerations or for the above reasons, not sure. Just keep it in mind should you use them for black powder.
