  1. I REALLY like the pewter buttons, but I was wondering, is there any detail on the pewter buttons or are they flat surfaced ? How much would the hand buttonholes up the price ? BTW, is the frock your hubby is wearing dark blue, charcoal, etc. ? It's hard to tell on my work computer. The monitor is almost period
  2. So Kass, how much would a frock like that run ?....or should I just PM you ?
  3. Kass, I have to say once again, INCREDIBLE WORK ! .....but, er, are your husband's sock tan lines period for the GAoP ? Don't shoot, don't shoot. I'm only kidding
  4. I just checked out your myspace site. Monkey Knife Fight is a crack up. Good stuff :) ....Oh and by the way, thanks for the add !
  5. Heres a quick wikipedia bio of the French pirate Francois L'Ollonais http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fran%C3%A7ois..._l'Ollonais
  6. Heres a little tid-bit about the origin of the Jolly Roger. Though it is only one of a few theories, it does involve the French. http://www.cindyvallar.com/flags.html Follow the link and scroll down toward the bottom of the page. You should see French text in italics.
  7. All I could find on Anne Mills was this : Ann Mills was another British dragoon who fought on the frigate Maidstone in 1740.
  8. Yep, there are a ton of us on there. Here's my link : http://home.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseActi...9CB5ADE17102297
  9. Pirate death metal ?.......Try Swashbuckle ! http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fusea...03-d269711195bc
  10. Why Patrick, you mean to tell us that you don't scale the rigging in your silk frock coat with gigantic cuffs ?
  11. In the painting "Falstaff Examining His Recruits", Falstaff himself seems to be wearing what look like slops. So is the guy standing next to him (blueish green slops). Except, Falstaff seems to have a sort of knee belt clamping the slops just above his knee.
  12. I've read soooo many different points of view on this matter it's almost comical. What I will ask about the incident is this : If the headbutt had happened in any other forum, besides a bar or ultimate fighting match, would the action be deemed acceptable ? Does France allow it's elected officials act that way ? No Would they allow a cop, fire personel, or crossing guard do that ? No Would they allow an average Joe do that ? No ....but bring in France's golden child and it's more than acceptable, in fact, they'll defend his right to do it. They'll even bring in lip-readers that will mangle what Materazzi said and turn it into an issue of racism. I agree with Jim, even if Materazzi called Zidane's mother a maggot ridden whore to Algerian terrorists, he should have sucked it up, played the rest of the match, and afterward beat him to a bloody pulp. But he wasn't man enough. He wanted one quick shot that would have been broken up if Materazzi fought back. COWARD ! Instead, Materazzi used it to his advantage and got Zidane thrown out in the middle of millions of viewers. The shame Zidane felt while walking off of the pitch was probably worse than anything Materazzi could have ever said. All in all, Materazzi laid an expert trap that Zidan ultimately fell for :)
  13. From the historical prints I have seen, many of the pirates pictured wore scabbards on their belts. I heard somewhere (can't remember where) that baldrics were not really used during the GAoP. Seems that they were being phased out by belt scabbards. In the historical prints of Blackbeard, specifically, they picture him with a sort of twin bandolier that he holstered his pistols with. I don't know if this helps, but there you go
  14. I just saw it last night as well. As far as I'm concerned, I thought it was great. Even my girlfriend enjoyed it and she usually can't stand sequals. She says they're way too predictable. She said Dead Man's Chest was incredibly engaging and that she couldn't believe how they ended it. I just grinned. I can't wait to see it again as well. Sorry ladies, I can't relate to the whole Norrington transformation but I will take my hat off for Ms. Swan :). More than once if need be !
  15. Thanks for the heads up. I'm going to see it tonight. I'll definately wait for the end.
  16. That was a great read, Story. Thanks, I really enjoyed it. I love reading about superstitions and the supernatural in the GAoP.
  17. I agree that the refs were horrible, but as a diehard Azzurri fan I just have to say that the ref only set up the chance for Italy to kick. It was the Australian's keeper that couldn't stack up to the competition. The Azzurri sent that goal in there, not the ref !
  18. Yeah, Anaheim, Anaslime, Anacrime. Its all the same, but that Los Angeles Angels BS is ridiculous. I know legions of devoted Angels fans that would like Art Moreno's head on a pike for that. He steps in after the ANAHEIM Angels win the world series and he immediately attempts to pass the team off as Los Angelean. .....Tragic Kingdom, guess we have Gwen Stefani to blame for that one. But hey, at least she hasn't forgotten where she comes from. Someone should give ol Artie Moreno a friggin' map.
  19. ~Puts spoil-sport hat on~ Sorry to be such a schtickler, but Disneyland is not in LA, it's in Anaheim, California. It is considered part of Orange County. I was born and raised there. I lived within ten minutes walking distance to the park. The thing that irritates Anaheimers most is when folks refer to it as LA. That would be like me referring to Sachsen, Germany as Berlin. I mean no offense at all, Charity. I just wanted to let people know.
  20. I don't know about the guy that won. I think Ace could have beaten him in a heartbeat :)
  21. I actually own that sword you posted Phillip. Yeah, not having a scabbard is a downside, but it will definately not break when you swing it in the air. It is made of carbon steel. It is battle ready if you want to sharpen it. The tip of the blade is what I like best. 2 inches from the top, the back of the blade is tapered to be sharpened as well. Nice little pig-sticker. :) I think you would like the rusty finish if you are after the gritty look.
  22. Hey Greg, no good deed goes unpunished, eh ?
