Master Hawkyns, Jas. Townsend & Son has been a favorite of mine fer a long time and I've made more than me share of happy purchases. But Mountain Top Trading Company looks to be a another great resource, thanks fer the link mate! Have you tried out any of their clothing? A waistcoat be what I'm interested in. . .

Aye Master LeClerc, after your first couple of attempts, I now spy a fine pair of boots indeed. They appear well broken in and comfortable, great pictures says I. Thanks ya sir! Now did ya be doing the stitching of the “hang me down cuffs” bits yerself, or did you have a trade craftsmen do that fer ye?

A bit of sand paper rubbed in the usual wear spots and edges of fabric can help distress and tatter fabric as well.

Well you do be needing a place on the internet that you be calling home port, were you can put and store your picture stuffs. So the answer be yes, you need a place, an internet website to put your pictures on and then have the message board point to with the command. (berp) You could try uploading directly to the Photo Album part of the Pub but I don't think that there be any way to call on them or display them here once they are there. . . Send me a PM, Personal Message and I'll do me best to help you if you need it. And man no matter what, don't be calling yourself stupid out here in public like that. Someone might hear and see us talking together and think oddly of us, or me anyway. Besides (berp) some say there be pyrates a foot, really. Did I answer your question? (berp)

Arr, well lets see them. Do you have pictures to share?
-
Ahoy Commodore MacVox, do there be a chance that we this here notice you refer to could be moved from the bottom of the screen to the top? It often gets by me eyes unnoticed.

Arr Lady Zephyr your company be sweet enough. I’ll have me ice tea no sugar unsweetened, hold the lemon. And it tis a bit gritty and funny tasting Mister Lasseter, with the left over coffee grounds crunching away, broken teabags and a few staples. Probably should have removed the shirt from it as well. I’m thinking that the foam be a side effect of boiling up through the cloth I think. . . Could be some left over soap residue I suppose, it goes away once the heat be reduced. El Pirata, the tea soak idea be an old theater trick, been around for years if not centuries I imagine.

Arrr and for the rest of us, I mean you poser pirates, there's always boiling water, tea bags and coffee grounds. Not that I would ever need to. . .um. . . you know. . .

Well this be the belt and frog I have at present fer me rapier. What I would prefer is a baldric that would accommodate this frog, with holster(s) to accommodate wheellock(s). It would also be nice if the holster(s) be detachable as well so I could have the option of going without pistols. . . don’t know if that be possible. Arr, talk about asking for a lot. . .
-
Aye, I’ve got a couple replica wheel locks, a pistol like yours and a heavier blunderbuss, plus a frog - rapier that I would also like to carry. Not that I have to carry both wheel locks, too much to carry all that at once really. But something for the one pistol or blunderbuss and me frog - rapier could attach to would be nice.

Arr I think it's best to be letting people know what ye think, it might save some from the same fate as you.

Arr darkRose, I realize that PIP, Pirates In Paradise be a short time away and that you're busy gearing up fer that, but do you have a website or more pictures where you can direct us pirates to see more examples of your fine work? I really be like'n that holster there of yours, great stuff.

Arr fantastic Capt Grey, well met!! I'll try to post some pictures meself once we add a few finishing touches here and get done with kids costumes, they're tired of always dressing up as pirates fer faire events. . . Anyone else with some pictures to share?
-
Arr mateys, thank you everyone for all the kind words. Though it not be the other tricorne steam and shape tutorial that I mentioned some pages back, but I had these sitting around and figured I’d share the pictures before it be to late for some to enjoy ‘em. And WOW Captain Westyn Elizabeth Roberts, that new hat and avatar of yours is amazing! (drool) I want to see some better close up pictures, it doesn't look like I'm going to make your wedding.

Ahoy there Redd, the picture I be posting was actually from a quote that El Pirata had earlier posted about his his new cutlass. But speak of being warned, buyer beware, I just got meself one of these cheap on sale swords from Chivalry Sports Renaissance Store: Arr it be in the same class as me replica wheellock pistols, they be looking nice enough from a distance and as along as you don’t be taking it out and waving them around calling to much attention to them, they do just fine for costume appearances.

Arr sorry for waiting until the last minute fer this, real life and kid school projects be getting in the way of me ship and pub duties here. For those of you that be looking to make less serious pirate hats for Hallareen, here be a couple of ideas that be costing $5. - $10. if it not be to late to find the materials. For instance I be finding some summer like straw hats on clearance at Wal-Mart for a dollar each. After I be removing the cord that wraps it's self around the crown, I bent up the sides and back brims, stitching them to the crown with some leather laces. Be warned, they can become a bit floppy like the best of us, even if they be taken cared of and loved to death like in the case of this poor hat. So if you be wanting some thing to be lasting a bit longer, it’s probably best to just go with felt. . . I went to the local Five n’ Dime junk store and bought a felt hobo type costume hat for $5. bucks. It has a couple holes in it and originally had a brightly colored orange foam patch stapled to it. I took off the patch and steamed the felt for a long while. Then I stretched it over a small head size bowl shape, the hat was really small. Once it be a wearable size, I pulled up the sides and back using clothespins to make sure that the shape was roughly what I be after. Once I was happy with the height of the back and side of the brims it was time to stich them to the crown. I hadn’t really need much more than a pencil for the straw hats but felt is a bit tougher so I grabbed a screwdriver and punched through, both the brim and the crown, making holes for the laces. “KIDS DON’T TRY THIS AT HOME” Then it be just a matter of threading the leather lace through the newly punched holes in brim and crown. Put a feather in 'is cap and call it macaroni.

Happy (berp) Berfday ta, (berp) the both of ya! (berp)

Arr Master Hawkyn, but from the practical and fighting stand point of experience, by all means protect one’s face from that powder burn and flash is what be important. Yer explanation of left side up and the right side down to shield be making more sense when firing a matchlock, in me mind anyway.
-
Master Hawkyns, Thank you sir for that wondrous bit of history and information, I will rectify the egregious errors in me own caviler hat making at once. Unfortunately, I think me disinformation either comes to by way of the internet, ( I know not the best place for complete & accurate information) or the several general period reference books I have. Though I don’t have an example off hand point at, I have notice that a lot of the information seems to have been taken from similar source(s) or from each other and inaccurately, probably volume after volume over time and in contradiction to each other. In any case sir, I fear that I have been a pawn in the dispensing of false information. (referring to some of my previous posts) I graciously bow (in a Wayne & Garth I’m not worthy sort of way) to your superior intellect, knowledge and obvious firepower. Respectfully in your service,
-
Master Hawkyns, Is that right? I thought I read somewhere that the right side of the hat were to be bent up so as not to catch flame when firing one's musket.?. Though to shield ones eyes and face as or more plausible if not preferable...

Katey O'Tierney's (berp) Berfday, she be 27

(berp) lets do the, the, the (berp) time lapse jig dance thing of yars again Katey and this time show us yer eyes. (Assuming Stynky’s usual pirate crudeness, Pyrate Molly runs across the pub, hikes up a bit of 'er skirt while doing a spinning scissor kick, sort of a mix of styles between Masters Chun Li and Bruce Lee. While connecting straight to poor Stynky's head and leaving an obvious boot imprint to his face, Stynky falls to the ground. Pyrate Molly lands back to earth effortlessly with her usual poise and grace as the crowd cheers, while finishing Stynky's rum while he now naps quietly.) -
