Nay, we were there Lass, We arrived just after 11:00. . . I tried calling you from a pay phone in the Lobby, but wasn’t able to get through to ya, even with the help of an operator. I thought that you were already there on site and we went out looking for you. After a few hours or so, we called off the search when a member of our party started complaining for food. Figuring that since we were a half hour – 40 minutes late, you and Micah must have already gone off to Yorktown and we went off to Olive Garden.

Paisley me darling, We’re not planning on staying over night, we’re just going to drive in for the day, hang out with you and whoever else shows up, see and take pictures of the exhibits and then likely dinner over at Olive Garden before before we head back.

Creed, Not to be harshing yar Pirate mellow, but this ain't that sort of event. . . fer dress-up I mean. Save it for Hampton Festival.

stynky- think there might be something going on with his job. . . I don't know, work doesn't sound like a good enough excuse to me. . . That tis just as lame of an excuse as having a bike ride scheduled. Aye, I got the email on the cheap hotel. Sorry for not replying, I had assumed it were part of a mass pirate emailing until just now when I saw that only a few of us from the board be planning on going. The grabbing up, is always a good pirate thing do. As for garbing up, this is a 'Living History', wander around, see and explore the exhibits type of event rather than a dress-up act-out faire or festival type of thing. I'm sure that people that work there will be dressed in period costume doing demonstrations. And though Jamestowne would have been lost - abandoned, if not for English Privateers coming to the rescue, I wouldn’t expect there to be any Pirates, Seadogs or Privateers.

Aye, I can handel it. Plus it looks like Creed and his boarding party might be showing up. I love that place, plus getting to climbing aboard and wander the ships, I always have fun. I must have been sleeping and missed the MTA, Military Through the Ages event this year, happened back in March. They use to have a colonial style pirate encampment, Merrick's Privateers from Maryland use to do it, I didn't see them there last year though. Speaking of no-shows, why isn't Zorgy going to be there

Well it looks like the rest of me boarding party might have other plans that day, but I still plan on attending the Jamestowne Landing event! . . .not likely to camp though. . .

Aye, an even cheaper way is to just make your stencil out paper and use a water soluble glue stick to tack down the leading edges of your stencil to the fabric. Make sure that you mask off the areas of your flag that you don’t want paint to get on, you would be surprised what effect a cloud of aerosol paint can have once it lands.Speaking of aerosol paint, it’s been my experience that most brands of white spray paint come out sort of watery – translucent and you have to use several coats to cover a dark fabric surface. Last time I checked, Rustolium seemed to spray the most opaque, but it’s been a while. An alternative to white spray paint is a cheap metallic silver, it usually covers anything in one coat and actually does a great job when spraying on black material. Once you’re done painting, be sure to pull up your stencil before it bonds to well with the fabric. If any glue from the glue stick is visible, a quick run through the wash usually does the trick.

Aye our wee boarding party plans on attending both the Hampton Black Beard Festival and any of the OOTW, Out Of The Woodwork Rennaissance Faire events that we are able to make. May 1 & 2, Roanoke, VA. May 8 - June 13, Lake Anna, VA Now the OOTW Roanoke festival be the closest to us here I think and we'll likely attend that event. Then depending on available resources, we might attend some of the others. Selestia, DuCouer, let me know what dates you plan on attending, maybe we can make it all at the same time and meet up! Which VA Ren Faire location? Are you speaking of the ren faire held in Fredericksburg in mid-June? Hampton is approximately 2 1/2 hours (a little more or less) from Fredericksburg. I'm planning on being at the Fredericksburg faire this year.

Actuall Iron Bess, Since ya be having a sword that ya be knowing how ta use, not to mention that ye be a moderator as well, you can pretty much do anything ya want.

Actually Clair, the California Blackbeard's Wake is really cool and doesn't have anything to do with what I posted. There have been some comments that it's difficult to negotiate this section at times to find and follow actual pirate events. And rather than delete or move those posts after the fact, I'm just asking that people think before they post and make sure that what they post is on topc.

Aye, I love Jamestown! Since I moved to the east coast almost 2 years ago, I’ve visited the reconstructed fort, toured the living history bits and the ships a few times now. At some point I want to actually tour the archeological dig site that's just up the road from it. If I remember correctly, there be some camping sites off that way as well. . . Anyway, it’s to early to tell for sure about the camping bit, but I’m game for hooking up and doing a visit.

Aye, I can't remember for sure now, but I think I stole the flaming marshmellies from Darkmalkin . .*Looking around nervously* But if she not be around to defend 'er claim, I’ll be glad to take the credit.
