  1. Ahoy, is there anyone that be attending said event? (beerp) Arr, well I say 12 - 12:30 for people to meet and greet, stynks. Half an hour is not enough time to tie message board names to the real life faces of new and used shipmates. Not to mention hanging out to chat or just general carousing. Last year it were a disaster, crews broke away early and then dispersed instead of coming back to where the Pyracy Pub be gathering. Picture opportunities were lost, a lot of people didn't meet and a lot didn't get met, real world friends weren't made. Shouldn't the main event here really be about everyone from the Pub meeting? . . . Should I be marooned?
  2. Well it looks like me eldest daughter be wanting to attend an anime convention opening week-end of the Virginia Faire. So we won't be going opening week-end after all.
  3. Well, . . .(beerp). . . tank, tank, tank you me Lady Charity.
  4. Just finished sewing on it. Almost 6' height by 11' in length, sewn design on both sides the black material is a cotton-synthetic blend and the design is unbleach cotton canvas.
  5. I think we be going to at least one day opening weekend, May 21 or 24, and another day closing weekend, June 18 or 19. We also plan to attend the the Hampton Blackbeard Festival, June 4 and 5. If we spread out our excursions to these three weekends, we can have a week of financial breather space between happenings.
  6. Lady Steele, Though me starting point is already from within the Commonwealth of Virginia, me own carriage ride to Hampton is 4 hours in the one direction, I think the trip is well worth making.
  7. Have anymore information about it? When? Where? A website perhaps?
  8. I didn’t mean to squash anyone’s enthusiasms here. . . I were just asking.
  9. My schedule is open, Gute go ahead and pick us a day shipmate.
  10. *As Stynky steers the ship off topic. . .* Of course, I'll be there again.
  11. Aye, tis a small faire to be sure. And even though we must have picked the hottest days to go last year, the green grass of the Lake Anna site was a far cry better than the ankle deep mud of some of their previous sites. The year before last, they had a great Queen Elizabeth and a wonderful crazy lady character that ironically played Queen Elizabeth last year. Anyway Paisley was the only one of us smart enough to have brown bagged it, they lacked good fooding stalls. And while Pyrate Molly took our wee ones around in search of treasure and trinkets, Paisley, Duncan and meself hung out in the shade of the libation tent. In any case I know we're planning on attending again this year.
  12. Some dress up. Some wear street clothes. Aye, well I understand that to be the idea, I'm just a wee bit curious if it be an invited and welcomed option. . . (beerp)
  13. Does anyone be knowing if the Blackbeard Festival, North Carolina, Morehead City - Beaufort be happening this year? Last year it was canceled, but the year before that it happened sometime in the middle of May. All me links to it seem to dead. . . (beerp)
  14. Is this an actual 'Dress-up and Play Pirates' event?
  15. I be using a Kenmore model of some sort that I bought for Pyrate Molly. And no I didn't buy it presuming upon any gender related domestic role. But I haven't a clue how to work the thing beyond pressing the pedal and changing needles as I break them. It's suppose to have some cool gadgety stuff, but I can't remember what now. Neither Molly or meself know how to access them, the manual was lost long ago during one of several moves. Now I just wrote the model number down so I could hopefully find the user manual online. . . I know it's here somewhere. Well, more rum will help me find it.
  16. Alright Hurricane, I‘ve taken ya off me list of wussies.
  17. For shame, all of you guys are wussies. Except for Duchess and Isabella. . and maybe BlackJohn. I’ve sewn all the trim on the hats I’ve made, 8 so far I think. I just pin on the trim and run it through a sewing machine. (sewing machine!?! How period is that.) If the felt is too thick to go through my machine, then I do sew by hand, maybe punching holes in the felt first. (talk about a braggart and over simplifying the issue) But now that I think about it . . . tacking the trim on with some light glue first before sewing might be a better way to go instead of all those pins.
  18. . . .begins its tale in 1553 and ends in the 1660s, and is utterly readable. . . It's available from Amazon here Wow that Nathaniel's Nutmeg book sounds great! Most of my historical interests and reference is from about early 1400 to the early 1800s. (that’s pretty much where my interests fall off) And the bulk of the history I have on that time period is centered about the English Civil War and the related weapons. This book sounds right up my alley, very cool! Thanks for the referral Um, . . . I mean, Arr thanks me matey. (burp)
  19. Bastards! I hate you all. . . . at least the ones that be going. Nice pictures. . . More please.
  20. Ahoy there Scupper & Free Men of the Sea, Is there any chance that the Armory has a discounted or promotional room prices for those of us thinking on attending?
  21. Long time Pyracy Pub member Deacon Frye passed away on Tuesday, August 24, 2004.
  22. Paisley Darling, That picture doesn't do you or the garb any justice. In person on her, they look great. Worn and distressed spots and edges, a little rust from the grommets, very cool. Fits her to a tee.
  23. Yeah, I would love one of those coats if they were in better shape. Cool stuff though.
