  1. While reading up on black fabric dyes, I found this other article re: the logwood adventure. http://findarticles....ag=content;col1 (Published in 2006, Our Debt to the Logwood Tree: The History of Hematoxylin by Cristina Smith. it includes the previous article Logwood and Brazilwood as a reference.)
  2. Here's a nifty illustration of a period marketplace in Alsace featuring all manner of goods. This image is from Schönes Zinn and can also be found reproduced in PEWTER at the Victoria and Albert Museum. The artist is reportedly unknown. (Note predatory parrot on center canopy waiting to wreak havoc on its next unsuspecting victim.)
  3. From the album: Old Things

A period artistic rendering of a market in Alsace c1700 with a pewter stall in center. (Artist Unkn)
  4. Good link Mister O. According to the thread below we'll be stalking Mister Bagley for said buckles unless some used ones turn up... or another source puts some together. (We'll probably be using some sort of modified, center-bar harness hardware until we can upgrade.) http://pyracy.com/in...s-shoe-buckles/
  5. It is rather frustrating Stynky. I mean, the only real reason we initially signed on to the forum was to use it as medium to demonstrate our work in interior design. That, and perhaps garner a few recipes for cooking with bacon. I'm simply at a loss for words to describe the disappointment that our family has to deal with now. It's literally shaken us to the core.

  9. We'll re-adjust imagery using transparent backgrounds to accomodate any future makeovers. (Probably should have set sail with these initially but hey, we're learning as we go.)

  12. That was a damn good review. BM would make a fine ghost writer for one's autobiography.
  13. New book out by Marley. We can't vouch for its accuracy as we don't have a copy. If he wants a review, he'll have to send us a complimentary one via USPS. (Give it up David... we know you follow this board.) Daily Life of Pirates ISBN 0313395632, 9780313395635 http://books.google....=gbs_navlinks_s
  14. Happy BDay DDC. We were working on a tortoise-shaped cake for you over the weekend but the model wandered off into traffic so we ended up having to scrap the project.
