  1. Lord Have Mercy....You actually take enough time ta taste Rum.. I always figured it ta be purely medicinal, and as such, should be drank with ultimate fervor and expedience. It's wat ya drink so the water don't kill ya.....Next ye'll be tellin' us cigars taste good....As fer me, give me Rum as quick and stiff as it can be, and smoke out the 12 pounders. and make sure they both keep comin..........

  5. Aye... I just made me first attemp at wormonology., and my sizing method was quite primitive and uncontrollable...I missed me bore diameter by 1/8 of an inch...Good practice, but not near as pretty as yours....I would honestly be interested in purchasing some of your work if I can afford it. I'd need two right-handers if yer interested.... My work just isn't anywhere near yer quality....I have to admit I'm still honing my Smitty skills, but would be proud to have something that nice to use on the Twins till I can get that good... If ya want ta email me direct my address is troller1775@sbcglobal.net.....Again excellent work....Iron Hand
  6. Just a silly question. Cap'n Bo, are you making these for sale? You've done a beautiful job. I've ne'er seen smaller-bore worms as this for sale....
  7. Right That.....Kinda Pricey as well....
  8. Bartholomew Roberts(Black Bart) One of the fiercest and most successful pirates of all
  9. Matt.....That is a nicely shaped blade...Have ye decided on a handle shape yet?
  10. Have ye tried just wetting the ramrod at the point it enters the top thimble..If the rod is not varnished, wetting should cause the wood to whisker and swell. Could make an easy fix. Rosin buildup might even do the same thing. Barsoap rubbed on the rod might help as well, works on Horn plugs....Even a thin coat of varnish on the same spot could help.
  11. Lost Souls of the Iron Brigade Captain Terry(Iron Hand) Roller... myspace under both names
  12. Was playing today and came up with "What's yer Pyrate Attitude"....Whata ya think
  13. "Welcome to the Dark Side, Lassie", says I whilst raisin' me achin' head from me table. Fair winds and a followin' sea to ye......Iron Hand
  14. Check this out. This will give you an idea what to shoot for..I've heard during the 1700's these pouches would hold 2 ro 4 cartridges. BAR only allows 2 cartridges to be carried at one time...http://cgi.ebay.com/RUSSIAN-IMPERIAL-ARTILLERY-AMO-CARTRIDGE-POUCH_W0QQitemZ270356598933QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item3ef2825095&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A0%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50
  15. That wasn't the one where we all had to turn in our ammo boxes over to the safe camp.... I have an old Army m-60 ammo can that I painted red, and it has my name on it.... I keep my loading gear and powder (in the can) inside it..... At the first Northern California Pyrate Festival, they made us turn in all of our powder to the safety camp.... and they just left my ammo box (powder and everything) sitting on the table, slightly roped off from the public (but anyone could have just reached across and grabbed it....) I'd rather be in charge of my own powder, than have someone else do it..... Yeah Patrick...That's the one.....I forgot about the "Powder Magazine", which consisted of a wooden box containing everones powder stores, left on a table(sometimes un-attended) inside a roped off camp...Like a rope will stop somebody who wants something on the otherside of said rope.....Wasn't too comfortable about that situation, or turnin' over me stores to someone I didn't know...I'd rather keep me powder close, Ye never know, There may be Pirates skulkin' in close proximity.....Yarr
  16. Good That, Crudbeard........I ran a copy of the AAA's Safety Procedure, and will keep them in me Ammo boxes....... I've never had to follow them precisely and have not ever been regulated by them at any pirate event.....Closest I've ever ran into was we had a National Civil War Artillery Line Marshall at the first Norcal that he had no problem with either our ammo boxes or ammo. I mean no disrespect by any of these statements. Their Rules are Good ones and we follow most of them as required....I just prefer paper over tin when yer not firin' on a bonafied artillery range....I've never run into a firing range at any pirate affair yet, that I've attended. I've fired cannon using both Aluminum foil and paper and simply prefer paper cartridge in Scirmish cannon firings...IH
  17. I've always found, a Pyrate with an unknown past is hard to pin down, or hang.....I will say me Grandfather was from Scotland, and hung for Piracy being betrayed by the Nobles who commissioned him. There dastardly names arrayed on his Letters of Marque, which he was never allowed to recover for his defense. As soon as I could I went to sea to avenge this mis-justice. And as for now, Have met with much success around Barbados.....But still want the Lords that betrayed me Gran-Dar....Mostly I seem a happy go lucky Rogue, but I do have me Dark Past, which I keep hidden from all but a select few. I usually stand up in defense of the underdog..." A friend in need, is a friend indeed." I try to stay out of the "Limelight", and avoid divulging my business openly....Those what know me, know I'm a good and Godly man. Those what don't, be ware....I can be very Dangerous, and as such, shouldn't be crossed or betrayed.........Iron Hand... Commader of the Iron Brigade and Captain of the goode ship "Revnge"
  18. This is one of my favorites, on board the Royalist, with my wife next to me.Wind in me hair, a singin' pyrate.... http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a103/troller1775/Nov17005.jpg
  19. Iron Jack showed me a peculiar way to make cannon cartridge...It's labor intensive, but I have never had unburnt cartridge at all usin' his method for my swivels... Ya take a coffee filter, fill with 2 oz. and roll up like a rat turd as Jack calls it, tieng the top closed. ya can make it as pretty or simple as ye want. I always tie a couple wraps of linnen thread around the body though.... They work great with little or no residue or unburnt cartridge in or out of the barrel.... I did roll some cannon cartridge the other day using the musket cartridge method...It works nice and quick....I just need to test it in the field to make sure it all burns....Don't wanna send embers into the winds or brush....If ya get me drift....Never did like makin' cartridge oughta foil, just my own silly feelins. It does make a lovely cartridge though......Iron Hand
  20. I blame the moose milkers union... Never tried milkin' a moose, but I magine it's tough.Specially for a short Pyrate.......
  21. I'm chimin' in a little tardy, but I agree with what Patrick and Lady B say....It is expensive to be totally period correct, and God love the ones that are. This is what happens when you totally emerse yerself in a hobby(for lack of better term, that describes what we do.) Patrick's done Civil War, and I Rev and French and Indian War prior to comin' over to the Darkside. Ya larn alot along the way. one important thing I larned was that I had a starting point just like everyone else. I don't like to tell people what's right and what's wrong, but am happy to help with advise when I can.. I gotta laugh everytime I see 10-20 Capn' Jacks at the same event, but, Hey, that's their gig and it's what the tourists get fired up about. Most everybody grew up on Movies bout Pirates, and that's what sparked most our interests in piracy, so what better a startin' point. I been doin' this re-enacting thing for 33 years, and I'm still not sure where it's going next. Would love to pull off a Sir Francis Drake, but I'd look more like Henry VIII and I don't wanna wear tights and poofy pants. Funny part is I look more like Yosemite Sam the Pirate. Ahh well....We Do what we can....Ya scurvy varmints......IH
  22. .......Revolution.....Revolution........Revolution.......Revolution.......I beleive in Ancient Greek, the word "Politicain," means anyone payed outrageous amounts of Gold and Silver to ignore the general populaces needs and destroy their Liberties..........Amuck.....Amuck....Amuck....... ph34r:
