You can buy Liver of Sulphur form Dick Blick or other craft/hobby suppliers. I have used it for "antiquing" silver lost wax cast jewelry items. About $3.00 for a 4 oz. bottle. Works on silver and copper. You would want to follow up with a electric buffing tool (SOFT Polishing- like a craft dremel tool) to remove the highlight areas leaving recesses black. Dick Blick

I too always held out there was hope for Bootstrap...(and rec'd much chiding fer my belief). That's why in the Portland, Oregon version of the POTC Interactive script we always yell "Go Find Bootstrap Monkey" after the credits and during the monkey scene. My theory is that the monkey finds Bootstrap, and adopts him as he no longer has a master since Barbossa is dead. Poor Monkey all alone! The little sneak is likely to announce Bootstrap to just the wrong people at the wrong time! Just me foolish theory Buckos! If'n I was telling the story. Bootstrap and Barbossa could still just turn up in flashbaccks or dream sequences and not in real time, as it were.

New old favorite... I finally bought meself a copy of Captain Bogg and Salty's, Kevin Hendrickson and Paul Iannotti's' earlier Portland pirate Rock n' Roll Band... Pirate Jenny- Never-Sea Land (1996) "We sail and sail and never see land. We never got rich, cause we didn't have a plan. Now the treasure just rusts in the corner of the galleon." Aye, Shayna is a purveyor of good inexpensive, imported garb for that gypsy Pirate look. I own several of her skirts and a shirt and they've held up well for dancing and raiding parties. Colorful bits 'o shine too. The gal is a friend to the PDX Pirates! I can reccommend her.

We came up with some Piratical verses to the tune of “Cape Cod Girls”, Sort of a Pyrate news wire take on the oldie, if ye will. Any one else game enough to add another, or two? Wonderful job. Have added it to the PDX Pyrate Crew website links! Especially like the flags section! You might explain who Microprose is, for the less game savvy.

Need "kid friendly" pirate movie
lorien_stormfeather replied to Black Hearted Pearl's topic in Pyrate Pop
I'm the mum of a couple 'o powder monkeys, ages 11 and 16... All of the movies mentioned are grand, but here's me review in terms of youngin's.... But remember most kids 3-11 won't want to sit still for an entire movie at a party anyway.... Here's another huge huzzah for "Muppet Treasure Island".. The adults will probably enjoy it too. " Professional Pirate" sung by Tim Curry is worth watching the movie for. In fact there is a "Sing Along Songs" edition by Disney (about 30 min) with only the songs on it. Great for short attention spans. You might try your library, Amazon or EBAY to hunt that one up! "The Wiggles" have Captain Feathersword and a song called "Pirate Dancing" for the preschool set .... "The Crimson Pirate" is loved at my house (as long as you tell them it's a corny antique, they'll appreciate it) "The Man in the Iron Mask" (new one) has pirates (and of course Musketeers) in it- Also written by Terry and Ted . Hook is a bit heavy with kidnapped kids and an actually dying teenager in it. Rufio gets run through. Princess Bride a bit slow in spots for pre-teens I can't remember anything amiss except a couple of amourous scenes in "Cutthroat Island", though there may be swearin' . I admit we like that one too. But if POTC is out (cause of the skeleton scene?) then you probably wouldn't like this one either. In my experience, kids take things happening to other kids (Goonies, Hook) worse than if it were the adults. -
Aye, Swagger and Drunken Lullabye both gets me vote as beatin' the new one out ... I'm a pirate I ken vote twice. And me hopes were dashed. No FM melee up here in the NW in the immediate future. The fan e-mail tells a tale of Florida and other nasty bits. Now if Captain Bogg and Salty would just announce a gig it might make up fer it.

Maybe it will be "the Lost Abess" sorry, couldn't stop meself!
