Thanks milady Pynch!
Here be me kit, minus a belt I'm waitin' on.
-
My Waistcoat arrived today along with my Baldric, just had to get one even though I don't have a cutlass. I'm just waiting on a belt I bought to arrive then I'll get a full garb pic up.
PS. Now I'm broke, I guess its back up into the attic for stuff to sell on ebay.

Well my shirt arrived today, just waiting on a couple more items to arrive and my first round of plundering be through. I might not be period authentic, but I be a pirate at least by "Hollywood" standard's and that be a start.
Updated my personal picture.
PS. GO YANKEES!

Oh! did I say eight, I meant twenty-eight.
PS. They also make good dog treats. I can always tell what the dog has been eatin' when I clean up the yard after him.

Great video!
If only I were eight again.

It is time for the grand unveiling of my hat so I added a picture to my profile for your viewing pleasure. I ended up sewing on two buttons to hold the front bends up and on the rear I just put a stitch through so it holds but you can’t see it. I was going to add some trim to the edge but if proved to be too difficult so I scratched the idea.
PS. I'm still waiting for me shirt to arrive!

Here is the picture of me boots and hat so far. Hat Pic

My hat arrived from Jas Townsend, fast and easy! I've trimmed off the crimped edge, but I'm still deciding on how I want to bend it. The brim bends up easily and I’m thinking just a few stitches of thread is all it will take to hold the shape.
I’ll keep ya posted.

Hey Crimson,
I think I'll pass on the full coat/jacket for now, though they be nice.
I'm thinkin' more on the lines of a vest, something without sleeves, but I did come across a short gunner jacket I liked.
Thanks for everyone's imput, and speaking of boots, I do have an old pair of "Cowboy" boots that I think might work for now. I'll try and post a picture of them to get your thoughts.

I picked up some do rags at
Seven Brothers Mercantile, they fit well but I thought the material would be a bit thicker.

Aye, after many weeks of searchin' the web, I've come across some pirate garb that is within me budget and can git me started. I've ordered from several different sites hopin' to 'ave it all by Halloween so's I can dress up with me daughter, she'll be a pirate as well, she has one of those cheesy kid costumes, but she loves it anyway. I'll post a pic as soon as I can.....Arrrr!
PS. I'm still trying to decide on a vest or a jacket of some kind, any suggestions would be helpful.
Thanks!

I ordered a hat blank from Jas Townsend, I'll keep ya posted as to how I make out with it.

Well my wife and I traveled down to Wildwood for the interactive theater and all I can say is kudos to Cutthroat Kate for putting this gathering together. She found a great venue, a vintage movie theater which had all the charm of days gone by. It was a pleasure watching the POTC with a group of pure fans and interacting with it was fun and different for sure. If ya have the chance, head on over tomorrow (Sunday) and catch the next showing at 1:00pm.
PS. Definitely bring a small pen light along with your script.
Thanks again Kate. :)

Anyone, anyone at all?
Please forgive my shameful bump.

Soooo... is anyone goin'?
Thinkin' 'bout headin' down, me mother-in-law has stepped up to watch the youngin's, so it be hard to pass up on a night out with the mrs.

'Ello mates! ...me crew and I have made our return from MDRF and suffice me to say it be a grand affair. Though we did come to the conclusion that it be a long journey for the day, for ya need more than a day to take in the sights in a leisurely fashion. It was great to meet a few of the Pub crew face to face, a splendid troupe they do make when gathered together. ‘Tis talk amongst me crew concerning next year and the word camping was mentioned in order to spend the weekend. In the mean time I’ll try and post up a few pix's I managed to take.

I’m glad to report that I shall be making me way toward the Maryland area and its grand fair grounds of Revel Grove! Yes it be true, after much hint dropping to the Mrs., she has agreed that it would be a fun day to get out with the kids. Of course me wife thinks we all be “Daft like Jack” with all this pirate stuff, but still my seven year old daughter be lovin’ pirates.
So me better half will take on the role of navigator on our journey southward with my daughter taking the roll of the wee bonny cabin lass, or gunners mate, depending on her mood. That leaves me teenage son, who believes everyone over the age of 25 is old and a dork, will take the position as… well, we be just taking him along for ballast. I won’t be in any kind of garb, just me boring every day clothes. My son would really hate me if I dressed up for this event, bad enough I’m draggin’ him along.
At any rate, we most likely will arrive around high noon, I’ll be keepin’ a sharp eye out for black buttons and green arm bands. I'll be sure to bring me new fangled picture taking box to document me trip. :)

Thanks for all the great idea's and imput!
Perhaps with your help I can avoid some of the pitfalls of starting this endeavor.
Thanks again,

I'm sending this out to those who have themselves a fine crew of pirates and asking how might one go about starting their own local group, I have a few idea's but thought I would check in with some experts.
Thanks a heep! ...and the rums on me!

Just read in the paper that a local nautical gift shop is having alittle get together for TLA pirate day. Their giving away some plunder too, nothing big I imagine but I'll have to take the kids over to check it out.
Also, just came back from a family party where their was quite a few who knew about talk like a pirate day, at least now my wife doesn't think I'm the only nut in town.
I took the opportunity to tell them about the POTC interactive theatre coming to a near by town and they loved the idea and all plan to attend, and their going to drag my wife along.
We shall see.

In honor of "Talk like a pirate day", the kids and I are about to sit and watch POTC for the umpteenth time, much to the dismay of their mother.
:o
Pass the popcorn ya filthy bilge rats!

Dang! Wish I could make it down, perhaps next time.
