  1. I'll be keeping my fingers and toes crossed that all goes well!
  2. My emotions have been running the gamut lately. It's been an odd couple of weeks for me. I've been confronted by (in no particular order) life, death, obsession, change, nostalgia, why people who take the usual path are are so fascinated by those of us who tend toward the road not taken, wisdom, my own life choices, happiness, lust, aging, friendship, naivete (not mine, thank goodness), luck, old secrets and not-so-secrets, respect, adulation and fear. A lot of this has fortunately sorted itself out but I still have a bit of figurative mopping up to do.
  3. Spot on, Captain Sterling. You're up!
  4. Oi - missed it! Hope it was a good one, though!!
  5. I think Political Correctness has been around in one form or another since the dawn of time. There's always been one thing or another that just wasn't done or said.
  6. There's also the other side of the coin - the belief that human nature has changed over the years and that "back in the day" people were different than they are now. Folks read about the gladiator and other combat for entertainment during the latter part of the Roman empire and exclaim "what barbarians - we could never do anything like that now!" but have no qualms about seeing two men (or women) beat the crap out of each other for money in a boxing ring (or cage match.) The more things change, the more they are the same. Eh - I'm digressing but wanted to bring up another side of this argument.
  7. Better brush your teeth afterwards - cavities, ya know...
  8. Not extreme by my standards. I felt pretty good by then and it was a lovely day. Heh, "jumping Jack" - that's later tonight...
  9. There was no burning or acid feeling. I kept trying to pin down a description of the pain, but couldn't. It just hurt - centered in the sternum area and radiated out. I looked at some heart attack pain diagrams and one matched what I had felt exactly. So I got worried all over again. But, to prove to myself that it wasn't a heart attack I went on a brisk two-mile walk and was fine - if it had been a heart attack I don't think I could have finished that walk.
  10. Had a scare early this morning (really early - 3:30 am.) I woke up to some extreme pain in my chest and for a minute thought I might be having a heart attack. I couldn't imagine how this would possibly happen since I'm in good shape, eat very healthily and don't have a family history of heart problems. And I'm not on HRT so that's not a factor. But the chest pain was unlike anything I'd ever experienced before. I waited for other symptoms and other than the pain radiating from my chest, didn't have them. So I got up - waiting to see if I got lightheaded, which I didn't - and went to the washroom for some Pudin Hara. That did the trick. Apparently, I had been experiencing the most painful indigestion of my life for reasons unknown to me. I'm fine this morning - a bit tired from the loss of sleep, but okay. I still need to figure out what caused this - everything I ate yesterday I've had many times before. Sheesh - I know it beats the alternative, but growing older sucks!
  11. ^ I agree with intelligence - backed up with a large axe. < Must admit to damn near killing a few men with that weapon that Cheeky mentioned. But they would have gone happily... V Second deadliest weapon?
  12. Alright, here's some lime chips: And lime chips are just not complete without a cervesa...
  13. Congratulations! Does this mean Phoebe will get her own action figure? And is he going to be kicking back some of that prize to her for doggy treats?...
  14. ^ Definitely the war at Cooper's Lake. I much prefer making bangs 'n booms to saying "huzzah" to a woman in a red wig. < And speaking of cannons, we'll be firing on the Lynx in a couple of weeks - woo hoo! V Other than an urge to work in the garden, how else does Spring inspire you?
  15. Okay, okay... "That's not our system."
  16. Welcome back!! Not a heck of a lot has changed here. Some new faces, some old...
  17. I'm so sorry to hear about your kitty. At least, knowing he was in your household, he had a good life.
  18. I suppose that depends on who is doing the ravishing...
  19. SO glad to see you back, Saltypots!! Mad Jack - care to elaborate? As they say, shared pain is lessened, shared joy increased...
  20. Found her on CNN - she's photo number six. The Photo
  21. Pat - talk to Rich and Greg. They're immersed in the steampunk world as well. And Jack and I have talked about getting into that also (more toys to build...) Are you still coming to the April Rendezvous, then?
  22. Congratulations! You managed to pass as a man in the army, and died like one, too, of lead poisoning from a bullet. Heh - sounds about right.
  23. My co-workers know what I do with my leisure time - I keep them amused with my sailing and piratical adventures. Plus I have a jolly roger in my cubicle.
