  1. Let's just say there wouldn't be one in Vallejo that I would go into unarmed and without backup...
  2. Hmmm.... I think pasta tonight, with veggies sauteed in butter, fresh herbs and garlic.
  3. ^ When I can, sailing. Nothing beats the heat like cool breezes on the SF Bay. Otherwise, it's lots of water and comfortable, natural fabrics. < Mmmm.... cheese and grapes! V Pass the question.
  4. I love my epilator - haven't shaved in years and never have to deal with stubble. Best thing since sliced bread sez I! And I'm SO glad it's cooled down, although we beat the heat yesterday by getting out on the bay in our sailboat.
  5. VERY HOT - we've been having unseasonably warm weather these past couple of months and it will get near 100 today. I'm glad I work inside.
  6. Yes - it IS easier said than done. I've gone through it. Try baby steps, Lady B. Start by setting small boundaries for yourself. And positive, affirming self-talk might sound like a cliché, but it really does work.
  7. You ALWAYS have a choice. It might not seem like it but you really do. Family is the toughest thing to get around. All of you keep playing the same roles year after year. Your role is making you miserable - so why don't you change it? (It can be done - I've done it. It's not easy but it can be done.)
  8. Designing and writing a software UI spec. (It really is more exciting than it sounds ... if you're a geek.)
  9. If memory serves, James Townsend has them. Jack bought a bag of them awhile back and said he did get a fair discount on them in bulk.
  10. Jack and I have been in that antique store - it was very hard to leave...
  11. Aye - a big pile o' money does tend to increase your stature... I'll bet Phoebe was a lot better behaved than the kids!
  12. This is what goes in that bag... Pirate bowling ball Check out the other bowling balls as well.
  13. And for Northern California, but right on the coast. Although what usually happens is we'll get lovely warm weather for three days and the warmth will pull the marine layer in. Cool and drizzly for two or three days then it will warm up again. Only thing is, you can't predict when it will be warm or cool. Best time to visit the SF coast area is September, hands-down.
  14. I hope this year is full of all good things for you! Happy Birthday!!!
  15. ^A wooden hinged box. I'm going to transform it into my toiletries box for primitive camping. < Also planning on building some larger boxes - I'm re-building my camp kitchen. V Pass the question.
  16. Try this: http://www.tomorrowland.us/sportscar/
  17. I'm a Porsche 911 You have a classic style, but you're up-to-date with the latest technology. You're ambitious, competitive, and you love to win. Performance, precision, and prestige - you're one of the elite, and you know it.
  18. I've talked about my various weapons from time to time - might as well post a couple of pictures. As you can see, I'm pretty much prepared for whatever kind of mayhem I might get into... The red-handled knife was hand-made by Patrick and the belaying pin was hand-made by the captain of the Aldebaran. Both the rifle and pistol were completely re-built by Jack. (And yes, that is a kitty in the upper right. For a cat that hates having his picture taken, he still has to get into EVERYTHING, even if there is the risk of having his picture taken.) Also, Jack did some inlays on the stock of my rifle - here's a closeup of his work (this is his first attempt!)
  19. Family isn't supposed to be anything. You are a member of your family by circumstances not of your making. No one chooses their relatives and quite frankly, most people wouldn't associate with theirs if societal pressures or a sense of obligation didn't compel them to. Very few people tell their families to take a flying leap and quite frankly, if merited, it's the healthiest thing a person can do, IMO. My family contains very few people related to me by blood and I'm very happy with it. Eleanor Roosevelt once said, "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent." If I were you, I'd set about divorcing your emotions from those less worthy family members and don't let them take up any more of your brain than absolutely necessary.
  20. You can't do anything about your family, but you can do something about how you react to them. Few of us get the family we deserve - just a part of life. I'm sure they have hobbies that are inconceivable to you (but I'll bet you give them the courtesy of not belittling them.) The next time a family member belittles your interests, you could either bring that up or say something along the lines of "Misguided as it is, you are entitled to your opinion, but quite frankly, I'd appreciate it if you'd just keep your mouth shut if you're just going to be negative."
  21. Did you say ice cream? Pistachio and rocky road
